If you needed proof that Indian cinema still has the power to make the entire country drop everything and rush to a theatre, look no further. Dhurandhar: The Revenge is delivering numbers so astonishing they almost don’t feel real. And Day 1 hasn’t even wrapped yet.
Dhurandhar Box Office Numbers at a Glance — Thursday Opening Day
| Metric | Figures |
|---|---|
| Tickets Sold (PVRINOX + Cinepolis) by 11 PM | ~4.70 lakh |
| Projected Tickets by Midnight | Just shy of 5 lakh |
| Previous Record Holder (Pathaan) | 5.45 lakh tickets |
| Day 1 Net Collection (projected) | ₹60 crore+ nett |
| Day 1 incl. Previews (projected) | ₹100 crore+ nett |
| 4-Day Extended Weekend Projection | ₹325–350 crore nett |
| Total Previews + Day 1 Tickets (National Chains) | 8.75 lakh — record |
What These Numbers Actually Mean
As of 11 PM on Wednesday night, Dhurandhar: The Revenge had sold around 4.70 lakh tickets in the top two national chains, PVRINOX and Cinepolis, for the Thursday opening day alone — and was expected to cross or touch 5 lakh by midnight.
To put that in perspective — the record for opening day sales at national chains is held by Pathaan at 5.45 lakh. But a fair comparison factors in previews too: combining previews and opening day, Dhurandhar: The Revenge had already sold 8.75 lakh tickets, which would comfortably be a record.
This is the kind of advance booking momentum that even Pathaan — a film that sparked its own cultural frenzy — couldn’t replicate when you account for the full picture.
The Eid Boost and a Monster Weekend Ahead
The opening day including previews is projected to clear ₹100 crore nett. With the Eid holiday beginning from Saturday, the four-day extended weekend is certain to cross ₹300 crore nett, likely around ₹325 crore nett — and including all versions, it could even top ₹350 crore nett.
That’s not a box office opening. That’s a seismic event.
