TL;DR: Dhurandhar: The Revenge or Dhurandhar 2 collected ₹44 crore net just from paid previews on March 18 alone — and trade analysts are projecting a massive ₹100–₹150 crore net on its official Day 1, putting it in the conversation for the biggest Bollywood opening ever.

Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar have pulled off something rare — a sequel that has already outgrossed the entire opening day of its predecessor before the official release date even arrived. Dhurandhar: The Revenge is in cinemas today (March 19, 2026) and the numbers are absolutely wild.

Preview Day Already Made History

The paid preview shows on March 18 collected approximately ₹47.90 crore gross in India (including blocked seats) — already exceeding the entire opening day gross of the original Dhurandhar (₹33.60 crore), which itself was a blockbuster.

Dhurandhar 2 recorded the all-time leader in BookMyShow pre-sales volume, with 14.81 lakh tickets sold 24 hours before release — surpassing Jawan’s previous benchmark of 11.02 lakh tickets.

How Does It Stack Up Against Bollywood’s Biggest Openers?

Film	Day 1 Net (India)
Stree 2 (2024)	~₹55 crore
Animal (2023)	~₹63 crore
Pathaan (2023)	~₹55 crore
Jawan (2023)	~₹75 crore
Pushpa 2 (2024)	~₹72 crore
Dhurandhar 2 (2026 – Projected)	₹100–₹150 crore

With Day 1 pre-sales crossing ₹30.5 crore gross as of 11 AM IST — the fourth highest day 1 advance booking for Bollywood — the film surpassed Stree 2’s ₹23.36 crore and is closing in on Jawan’s ₹40.75 crore record.

Why the Numbers Are So Big

Trade experts have noted that the film’s nearly 4-hour runtime has done nothing to dampen audience interest, with worldwide opening weekend projections exceeding ₹500 crore if current trends hold.

The film is riding a perfect storm: a festive Eid + Ugadi + Gudi Padwa release window, a pan-India 5-language rollout, and the goodwill from the first film’s ₹1,349 crore worldwide run. Adding to the buzz, Allu Arjun publicly called the film a “BLAST” on X after watching the premiere, pushing the hype even further.

Dhurandhar 2 is currently running across 21,220 shows in India — one of the widest releases in Indian cinema history.

It’s the kind of box office event that reminds you why big Bollywood releases still dominate India’s entertainment calendar in ways no OTT platform can replicate.

A Minor Hiccup in the South

Not everything went smoothly. Preview shows for Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam versions were affected by technical issues, with those shows shifted to March 19 — slightly denting what could have been an even bigger preview haul.

Verdict: Record Books Are Being Rewritten

Dhurandhar 2 is on course to post the biggest Bollywood opening day since Jawan — and possibly ever. Final figures will be confirmed tonight, but every indicator points to a historic debut. Keep an eye on our Bollywood box office tracker at TechnoSports for live updates as numbers pour in.
