What’s Happening With Om’s Release Date?

“Om” was originally set to release on October 16 during the Ayudha Pooja weekend. But with “Jailer 2” now slated for October 15, the makers are reportedly exploring a Diwali release instead to avoid competing directly at the box office.

Why The Shift Is Complicated

Reports suggest Netflix has flagged that its streaming agreement expects “Om” to release on October 16, meaning any date change could affect the planned OTT rollout. Adding to the complexity, “Ramayana” is also arriving during Diwali, which could squeeze “Om’s” worldwide screen count if it moves to that window. Dhanush is said to be in discussions with co-production house R Take Studios and is expected to speak with the OTT team directly to seek approval for the shift — though none of this has been officially confirmed yet.

“Om” is billed as an action drama and marks the first installment of a planned duology, with music by Sai Abhyankkar. The film’s first single, “Alaakaa Loova,” is set to release alongside Dhanush’s 43rd birthday celebrations.
