Dhanush Gets Emotional Over Father Kasthuri Raja’s Habeebi: “Proud of My Father”

Family pride took center stage on social media as Dhanush penned a touching note about his father Kasthuri Raja’s latest film, Habeebi. Amid his own packed shooting schedule, the actor finally caught the film and didn’t hold back his admiration.

Dhanush on Habeebi

What Dhanush Said

Taking to social media, Dhanush shared that he could only watch the film recently due to his continuous shooting commitments, and expressed pride in his father for taking on the unfamiliar role of Yusuf with full conviction. He also praised director Meera Kathiravan and the entire team for crafting strong performances and a memorable cinematic experience.

What Habeebi Is About

The film follows Yousuf, a traditional weaver fighting to preserve his family’s handloom legacy, while a parallel storyline traces the quiet, enduring love between Abu Thahir and Nilofar against a backdrop of changing times in their community. It’s a deeply rooted, slice-of-life drama — the kind of regional storytelling that has long defined Tamil cinema as a powerhouse of authentic, culturally grounded narratives.

Dhanush’s Own Packed Schedule

While celebrating his father’s work, Dhanush remains busy himself. He was last seen in the action thriller Kara, which received mixed-to-positive reviews and is now streaming on Netflix. He’s currently filming Om, an action drama co-starring Mammootty, Sreeleela, and Sai Pallavi, set for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026 — and reportedly the first chapter in a planned franchise.

It’s a sweet full-circle moment: a son balancing his own blockbuster ambitions while still pausing to celebrate his father stepping outside his comfort zone.
