Delta Force Reboot is confirmed to be revealed at Gamescom 2023

Delta Force: Hawk Ops is an unexpected return to the Delta Force franchise. TiMi Studio Group, best known for developing Call of Duty Mobile, is presently working on the ninth installment in the long-dormant FPS game.

Delta Force debuted in 1998 as a PC-only series before spreading to consoles four years later. Delta Force: Urban Warfare’s eventual PlayStation debut did not go ignored, as it is still regarded as one of the best FPS games on the PS1. Until the 2005 Delta Force: Xtreme, California-based company NovaLogic released new Delta Force games on an annual basis. Its sequel, Xtreme 2, received generally unfavorable reviews when it was published in 2009, causing the studio to shift its focus to other projects. Following the cancellation of three such projects and financial issues, the studio was eventually sold to THQ Nordic in 2016. Since then, the Austrian publisher has shown no interest in resurrecting the Delta Force series.

Nonetheless, a new Delta Force: Hawk Ops edition is presently in development at TiMi Studio Group, which probably licensed the long-dormant FPS brand from THQ Nordic.

The Chinese mobile gaming behemoth launched its latest release on August 18 with a teaser clip portraying frantic action in a range of settings. The 30-second video is intended to serve as a teaser for the game’s actual announcement, which is set to take place on Tuesday, August 22 at the 2023 Gamescom.

Meanwhile, TiMi Studio Group has revealed that Delta Force: Hawk Ops would be a multi-platform release for PC, consoles, and mobile devices. The game will be released as a free-to-play experience, as are the majority of recent releases from the Call of Duty Mobile creator. Though the game’s economic model will unavoidably center on multiplayer, Delta Force: Hawk Ops will also have a campaign mode inspired by the 2001 Hollywood thriller Black Hawk Down.

Hawk Ops will thus be the second Delta Force game to be inspired by Ridley Scott’s legendary war film, after Delta Force: Black Hawk Down by more than two decades. Despite this resemblance, there is no indication that the next FPS will be a remake of NovaLogic’s 2003 game.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops is in development for Android, iOS, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
