Let’s set the record straight. Bollywood’s internet detectives had been busy building a whole narrative — Deepika Padukone wasn’t posting about husband Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar: The Revenge, and clearly that meant something, right? Drama. Distance. A statement.

Deepika stepped in with exactly the kind of calm, unbothered energy that can only come from someone who genuinely has nothing to prove — and she did it in a single comment that made the entire conversation look embarrassingly petty.

What Actually Happened — The Full Timeline

What	Detail
Film	Dhurandhar: The Revenge (sequel)
Director	Aditya Dhar
Deepika’s comment	“The latter my friend… P.S. I watched it way before any of you did. Now who is the joke on?”
Worldwide box office	Over ₹1,500 crore
When Deepika supported Part 1	December 2025 — posted an Instagram story praising Ranveer and director Aditya Dhar
Her Instagram story for Part 1	Urged fans to go to cinemas, called it “worth every minute of those 3.36 hours”

When someone on social media asked whether her lack of public posts about the film was a deliberate statement or just the internet spiralling again, Deepika replied with sharp wit — noting she had watched the film well before its theatrical release and turning the entire “silence = drama” theory on its head.

Why the “Silence = Shade” Narrative Was Always Flawed

This kind of thing happens with Bollywood couples constantly. The moment a star doesn’t post about their partner’s film within 24 hours of release, the internet constructs entire emotional arcs out of thin air. Deepika isn’t new to this. She’s been navigating public scrutiny since long before her marriage, and she’s learned — wisely — that not everything needs a public response to be real.

What she actually did: watched the film before most people even got to see it. Celebrated it privately. Supported her husband. Just not for the cameras.

Her fans rushed to her defence in the comments too. One pointed out she was busy raising their child. Others noted that support doesn’t require an Instagram post to count. It’s a fair point — the idea that a celebrity marriage can be decoded through social media activity is, well, exactly the kind of assumption Deepika dismantled with one comment.

For context on how social media scrutiny shapes celebrity culture in India, the Wikipedia page on Bollywood gives useful background on how intensely the industry’s personal relationships are followed by the public.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge — A Blockbuster Worth Supporting

While the drama played out online, the film itself was busy doing what blockbusters do — making money. Dhurandhar: The Revenge crossed ₹1,500 crore worldwide, cementing it as one of Ranveer Singh’s biggest career wins. Directed by Aditya Dhar (the man behind Uri: The Surgical Strike), the sequel built on its predecessor and clearly delivered for audiences.

Deepika’s support for the first film was public and warm — she called it worth every minute and pushed fans toward cinemas. Did she need to repeat the exercise for Part 2? Apparently not. And, as she made clear, she didn’t need to.

Deepika Padukone’s Real Takeaway

What’s genuinely refreshing about Deepika’s response is that she didn’t over-explain, didn’t get defensive, and didn’t use it as a PR moment. She made her point — cleanly, cleverly, and briefly — and moved on. That’s the mark of someone who’s secure enough in her life to let the noise pass.

The joke, as she aptly noted, is on everyone who built a story out of silence.
