DC Wraps a Banger Opening Week: Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Action Drama Nears Rs 50 Crore in India

It started small, but DC is finishing its opening week loud. Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi’s Tamil action drama collected Rs 4.75 crore on Day 7, closing week one at a strong Rs 47.25 crore gross — an impressive climb for a film that opened at just Rs 5 crore.

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, DC has been riding a wave of positive word-of-mouth throughout the week, keeping single-digit-crore days steady even past the opening weekend rush. With the Rs 50 crore mark expected to fall by end of day, the film has already been declared a Clean HIT.

DC: Day-Wise Collections (Week 1)

Where Is DC Winning the Most?

The film’s strength lies in the southern markets. Tamil Nadu led the charge with Rs 14.50 crore, followed closely by the Telugu states at Rs 13 crore. Kerala delivered a standout weekday performance, contributing Rs 11.50 crore, while Karnataka added Rs 5.50 crore. The rest of India chipped in roughly Rs 2.75 crore.

What’s Next for DC?

The film now faces its toughest test yet as Vishwanath and Sons hits theatres this weekend, which could slow its momentum in southern markets. Still, with a Clean HIT tag already locked in, DC has more than proven its opening-week strength. For more South Indian box office trackers, head over to TechnoSports.
