Databricks just flipped the script on enterprise AI. At its annual Data + AI Summit 2026, the company unveiled Genie One — an agentic AI coworker that doesn’t just answer questions but actually understands your business, automates workflows, and takes real actions grounded in your own data.

What Is Genie One?

Genie One is Databricks’ latest addition to its growing suite of AI coworkers — tools designed to turn raw business data into trusted, actionable answers. Unlike generic AI assistants, Genie One works across any data type: structured, unstructured, analytical, or operational — whether it lives inside Databricks or not.

It’s built for real business teams — marketing, finance, sales, HR — letting them automate and orchestrate their day-to-day work without waiting on data engineers or writing a single query. Think of it as the AI coworker who actually does the homework before showing up to a meeting.

Databricks Key Features : Overview

Feature	What It Does
Genie One	Agentic AI coworker for business teams — automates workflows across all data types
Genie Ontology	A self-improving context layer that continuously learns your business from internal & external data
Genie Agents	Lets teams build and deploy reusable AI agents governed by Unity Catalog
Genie App Builder	No-code tool to vibe-code business apps connected to live data with built-in controls

The Secret Sauce: Genie Ontology

At the heart of the entire Genie family is Genie Ontology — arguably the most ambitious piece of this announcement. It’s a live, self-updating knowledge layer that pulls context from everywhere: files, tickets, chats, meetings, connected workplace apps, and external data sources.

Instead of AI guessing from incomplete context, Genie Ontology builds a web of organizational knowledge — from people, documents, data, and tools — and continuously refines it. The result? Higher accuracy, lower latency, and reduced token costs. It solves what Databricks calls “one of enterprise AI’s hardest problems”: making AI that truly understands a business.

This approach draws from the broader field of knowledge graphs — a well-established AI technique for mapping relationships between data entities — and supercharges it for live enterprise environments.

🔑 Bottom line: Genie Ontology turns scattered company knowledge into a single ground truth — so AI stops guessing and starts knowing.

Who Is This For?

Genie One is designed for non-technical business teams. With Genie Agents, any team can build reusable AI workflows. With Genie App Builder, they can spin up full business applications — all with access controls, permissions, and cost governance baked in via Unity Catalog. No IT bottleneck required.
