Daldal is an upcoming psychological crime thriller on Prime Video starring Bhumi Pednekar as a Mumbai police officer investigating brutal murders while confronting her own trauma. Premiering January 30, 2026, the series stands out for its dark, unsettling narrative that explores the psychological roots of violence rather than just solving crimes.

The Gruesome World of Daldal Unfolds

Prime Video has unveiled a teaser for its upcoming psychological crime thriller Daldal that leaves no doubt about its brutal, unsettling nature. The 60-second preview opens with a stark viewer discretion warning before plunging audiences into a montage of blood-soaked imagery, torture, and mutilation. With almost no dialogue, the teaser relies solely on escalating dread and disturbing visuals to establish the show’s dark tone.

The series premieres January 30, featuring Bhumi Pednekar in a powerful role as DCP Rita Ferreira, a Mumbai Crime Branch officer who finds herself facing a cold-blooded killer in a high-stakes game of survival.

What Makes Daldal Different

Unlike conventional crime thrillers that focus on the “whodunnit,” Daldal goes beyond the conventional mystery to ask “why,” weaving together themes of trauma, vulnerability, and resilience into its fabric. The series shifts focus from who committed the crimes to the psychological and emotional origins behind the violence.

Set against Mumbai’s backdrop, the series follows Rita Ferreira as she confronts a killer while navigating her own personal traumas and inner demons. Each crime in the investigation reveals a twisted psyche, with victims bearing grotesque marks—wrists slashed, mouths stuffed with raw meat and objects—each detail exposing layers of psychological disturbance.

Bhumi Pednekar’s Career-Defining Performance

Pednekar plays a character built around stillness rather than swagger, communicating through physical tension and subtle cues rather than dialogue. This approach demands exceptional restraint and nuance, marking a significant departure from her previous roles.

Bhumi Pednekkar appears as Rita Ferreira, a senior officer hunting a killer whose crimes go beyond murder into grotesque ritualistic violence, with hints at a deeply personal battle beneath the investigation through flashes of the cop’s own unresolved trauma.
