Night City is calling again. At Anime NYC, Netflix and Studio Trigger unveiled the first seven minutes of “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” — and fans quickly learned this isn’t Season 2 at all. It’s a standalone sequel with an entirely new cast of edgerunners.

What Happened In The First 7 Minutes
The footage introduces Roman Carax, a 12-year-old filmmaker documenting Night City on a camcorder, before cutting to a trio of new mercenaries pulling off a heist at an Arasaka facility. One of them, a hulking edgerunner named King, starts glitching mid-job — hallucinating a woman from his past — and the operation spirals into a bloody, ballistic shootout. As King’s hallucinations intensify, a bystander describes him as slipping into “cyberpsychosis,” the show’s signature mental break caused by too much cybernetic augmentation. The sequence closes with a stylish ’90s pop-art title card set to The Cure’s “10:15 Saturday Night.”
Why Fans Are Excited
This is the franchise’s first new material since the original series wrapped in 2022, and the reveal leans hard into what made “Edgerunners” a hit in the first place — vivid, brutal action paired with genuine emotional stakes. Writers Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka are returning, keeping continuity with the tone that made the first run a critical and fan favorite, even while introducing an entirely fresh set of characters.
