Courtois aiming for clean sheet trophy while admitting Real Madrid would need Hazard to win the LaLiga

Finally, the LaLiga is about to resume on 11th June with the Seville derby. After 3 months of suspension, football will be back in action.

Barcelona will play against Mallorca away from their home on Saturday, while Real Madrid will host Eibar on Sunday. Barcelona hold a 2-point lead over Real Madrid with 11 matches left to play.

The title race for this season has been very competitive. Real Madrid has been the better side marginally, winning the El Clasico but they slipped up before the break for Coronavirus.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been in excellent form under the bars. He has the most number of clean sheets in LaLiga followed by Getafe’s David Soria on 12 and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak on 11. Courtois has played 3 matches less than the other two as well.

Courtois told Movistar: “Those trophies are always cool. I won two with Atletico Madrid and I’d like to win it with Real Madrid, but I know that the Zamora is an award that can only be won through teamwork.”

Courtois along with his other teammates are eyeing for the LaLiga title. Real Madrid’s €100m signing Eden Hazard has been sidelined for the majority of the season. He has made just 15 appearances this season.

The Coronavirus pandemic has been a blessing in disguise for Hazard as he has got enough time to be back to full fitness. He is now training with the team and hopes to win the LaLiga for Real Madrid.

Courtois admitted that Hazard will be crucial in Real Madrid’s bid for the LaLiga title. He told Movistar: “Hazard is just fine. The rhythm he has is surprising, but we have to go bit by bit.”

“We can’t expect him to be on top form without playing. I think he’s in shape and we’ll need him to fight for the title.”

Courtois further added: “It’ll be different [without fans]. It’s great when there is an atmosphere – even when you are playing away from home and it’s against you. It gives you adrenaline and it’s something which motivates me to pull off more saves. I’ll be just as motivated without the fans there.”

Real Madrid will hope to end Barcelona’s dominance on the LaLiga title by winning it for the second time under Zinedine Zidane.
