Why Kochi?

Since 2011, Comic Con India has evolved into one of the country’s most anticipated pop-culture celebrations, drawing over 200,000 enthusiasts with a digital reach exceeding 330 million. After expanding to Guwahati and Jaipur, Kochi emerges as the natural next destination.

Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and MD of NODWIN Gaming, explained: “Kochi has always balanced heritage and modern creativity in a way few cities can. The same city that grew up on Mayavi, Luttappi, and old Malayalam comic traditions is now also home to thriving cosplay circles, anime communities, and gaming cafes full of young talent.”

Kerala’s Pop-Culture Heritage

Malayalam comics like Chandamama, Champak, and Amar Chitra Katha shaped generations. Today, Kerala boasts homegrown superhero sensations like Minnal Murali (a global hit about a tailor gaining lightning powers) and Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra (India’s first female superhero film rooted in folklore).

The state has rapidly transformed into a vibrant hub for anime enthusiasts, emerging cosplay communities, and gaming circles—blending rich cultural heritage with progressive youth culture.

What to Expect

Shefali Johnson, CEO of Comic Con India, shared: “Kochi has a warmth and openness that makes it a special place for creative communities. Our hope is that this edition becomes a place where Kerala’s fans, artists, cosplayers, and young creators feel supported and inspired.”

Attendees can look forward to:

• Interactive sessions with international and Indian guests
• Gaming arenas featuring the latest titles
• Cosplay competitions showcasing incredible talent
• Panel discussions on comics, anime, and manga
• Live performances, stand-up comedy, and musical acts
• Merchandise and collectibles from favorite franchises
• Immersive experiences across pop-culture genres

Kochi’s Cultural Alignment

Kochi’s cosmopolitan identity and centuries-old status as a cultural hub align perfectly with Comic Con’s ethos of diversity and boundary-free cultural exchange. The city’s openness to creative expression makes it an ideal destination for this global celebration.
