Cody Gakpo signs for Liverpool: All details

Cody Gakpo said after signing for the Reds: “I’m really excited to be at Liverpool, looking forward to start playing for this amazing club. This is a great club for me to come in and try to show what I can do and try to help the team to achieve more beautiful moments, it’s also good to develop here”.

He further said: “It was really hectic because it went really fast with Liverpool… and it was Christmas! Crazy! Everyone I know texted me. Van Dijk told me that this is the right move for me to become a better player, that LFC is a really massive club but also a real family”.

Gakpo further told about his international and now club teammate Virgil Van Dijk: “Van Dijk called me in the past days, while talks were on. He told me the club is a really big, I think that also the family side is very important for me because I’m a family guy. Virgil said only good things about Liverpool, he wanted me to join the club”.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also excited about the new signing. He said about Gakpo: “Gakpo, great player but also a smart guy. We have managed to sign a player who we have known about for quite some time… and who we believe will have a really bright future with us. Trust me, he has huge potential”.

Klopp further said about the budget for more signings in January: “That’s the discussions we have in the board room. We know what we want to do, we’ll see if we can do it. He also answered whether Gakpo’s signing will influence Firmino’s decision on the new deal: “No. Not from me. You’ll have to ask Bobby about that”.
