Chumbak OTT Release Date: Neena Gupta and the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai Team Reunite for Netflix’s Newest Neighbourhood Comedy

Some shows don’t need murder mysteries or corporate conspiracies to hook you — sometimes all it takes is nosy neighbours, shared festivals, and a whole lot of heart. That’s exactly the vibe Chumbak is bringing to Netflix this September.

When Is Chumbak Releasing?

According to Moneycontrol and a Deccan Herald weekly OTT roundup, Chumbak premieres on Netflix on September 10, 2026. The series marks the reunion of writer-director Aatish Kapadia and producer JD Majethia — the creative duo behind beloved Indian television comedies Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi.

What Is Chumbak About?

It is a multigenerational feel-good comedy set in a lively Indian housing society, where five families end up living like one big, chaotic extended family. Expect community drama, festival chaos, unsolicited advice, and the kind of warmth that only nosy-but-loving neighbours can bring. It’s a spiritual expansion of the Sarabhai universe — trading one joint family for an entire neighbourhood full of them.

Overview

Why Fans Are Excited

It brings back Deven Bhojani and Sumeet Raghavan, both fan-favorites from Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, alongside a stacked ensemble including Neena Gupta and Arjun Bijlani. For anyone who grew up loving the comic chaos of that iconic show, this reunion between its original creators is reason enough to tune in — especially with the format expanded from one joint family to five entangled ones.
