Chris Evans Is About to Set an Unbreakable Marvel Record — And It Has Nothing to Do With Captain America

Chris Evans has fought Thanos, HYDRA, and half the MCU’s rogues gallery. But Avengers: Doomsday is about to hand him a record no other actor can claim: facing Doctor Doom on screen for the third time.

Three Films, Three Doom Fights, One Actor

Evans first squared off against Victor von Doom in 2005’s Fantastic Four as Johnny Storm, then again in 2007’s Rise of the Silver Surfer. Now, as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday (out December 18), he’ll battle a Doom for the third time — just wearing a very different suit.

Why This Time Feels Different?

Unlike the Fox-era Doom — a billionaire-turned-metal-skinned villain — this MCU version is closer to his comic roots: a Latverian ruler with near-unstoppable power. Steve Rogers reportedly carries extra weight into the fight too, with rumors suggesting Doom blames him for incursions that destroyed his home universe and family, as we covered in our Avengers: Doomsday leaked trailer report.

Evans himself has teased the stakes, admitting the Russo Brothers “keep finding new ways to kick his butt,” calling this outing “brutal” and a genuine test of Rogers’ values. Marvel even hid his casting under the code name “Luke Cage” during production — a nod to the character’s rich history, similar to how Luke Cage himself became known as an unbreakable Marvel hero.

Conclusion

Steve will need help from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men to take Doom down. With Thor offering Mjolnir in the trailer’s final moments — and Steve proving worthy to lift it — this fight looks set to be one of the MCU’s biggest yet.
