A Chinese Artificial Intelligence company named Shanghai Zhizhen Intelligent Network Technology Co, Ltd, in short Xiao-i, filed a lawsuit against Apple. The company alleged that Apple has violated its patents.
The Chinese company demanded 10 billion yuan, that’s around 1.43 billion USD for damage and also notified to stop “manufacturing, using, promising to sell, selling, and importing” all the products that are infringed on the patent.
As per the company Apple’s voice assistant, Siri is the main reason for the step. Xiao-i applied for the patent in 2004 and was granted in 2009. Apple didn’t react to it yet.
This is not for the first time, Xiao-i sued Apple earlier in 2012 for its voice recognition technology.
