Chelsea’s third £70m Wesley Fofana bid rejected by Leicester City

Chelsea have submitted a third bid to try and sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City. The offer was worth £70 million up-front, and included some difficult to achieve add-ons. As a result, the Foxes have rejected the offer.

Brendan Rodgers has maintained that the centre-back is not for sale this summer. He recently renewed his contract with the club, after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The player had a verbal agreement that he would be allowed to leave in 2023 if the right offer arrives. As a result, a transfer this summer was always going to be difficult.

Wesley Fofana remains on Chelsea’s transfer list despite bid rejection

The Frenchman is keen on making the national team in November for the World Cup. Wesley Fofana is yet to make his debut under Didier Deschamps, and believes that the lack of Champions League football could be the reason behind it.

This has caused the 21-year-old to push for the transfer to Stamford Bridge, even though he was expected to leave next summer. This past weekend, he was left out of the squad to face Southampton, and Rodgers’ side ended up losing at home.

Chelsea will try again to sign the player since they have already agreed personal terms with the player for a six year contract. They are also working on departures, and are monitoring interest from Inter Milan for Trevoh Chalobah.
