CES 2021: Intel’s 12th Gen Alder Lake chipsets based on 10nm process coming in H2 2021

CES 2021 has begun and we can’t wait to deliver all the interesting updates coming our way. Today, at CES 2021, Intel showed off its next-generation Alder Lake chips. This is Intel’s next major chipset and is previewed to be launched in the second half of 2021.

The Alder Lake chipset is said to follow a similar strategy to that of ARMs’ BIG.little technology. Intel has been quite bold in its claims and has stated that this next-generation Alder Lake chip is their most power-scalable system-on-chip.

The chip will look to maximize both power and efficiency by using cores in a single package. This cores will be high-performance and high-efficiency ones. These are similar to how the Apple M1 chips functions.

Unlike its previous chipset, Alder Lake chip is designed for both desktop and mobile processors. The 12th Gen chips will carry a new version of 10nm SuperFin designs. We have already seen 10nm SuperFin designs in Intel’s 11th Gen Tiger Lake chips. On the other hand, Intel’s competitor, Apple, has already launched 5nm M1 chips which are considered better than 10nm chips.

The new Apple MacBook Pro M1, MacBook Air M1, and the Mac mini M1 have already started coming in 5nm M1 chips. It will be interesting to see how Intel’s Alder Lake chipsets compete with that of Apple’s. This new chip is Intel’s best bit as they are its closest product to Arm-based chips. These hybrid chips show that Intel is committed towards its business and is ready to innovate in the future.

Along with next-generation Alder Lake chips, Intel has also released its new 11th gen H1 series, N-series Pentium Silver and Celeron processors.
