Call of Duty: Warzone’s Pacific map release gets delayed until December 9

Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale video game released on March 10, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. A version for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S has been announced to be released sometime in the future.

The new Pacific map for Call of Duty: Warzone has been delayed by a week. It was supposed to launch on December 2, but Activision announced today that it won’t be available until December 9.

Owners of Call of Duty: Vanguard will get access to the new map 24 hours before the rest of the world—that is, on December 8th. The start of Vanguard Season 1, which was also supposed to start on December 2, has been moved back to the same day, and an Activision representative confirmed that the entire deployment of the new Ricochet anti-cheat system has been pushed back to the same day.

Activision hasn’t explained why the new map was postponed, but the new day places the map and Vanguard’s first season right on top of the Halo Infinite campaign, which is also planned to release on December 8. That’s probably not on purpose, but it’s a humorous reverse of the “delayed to prevent getting massacred” strategy we’ve been accustomed to seeing.
