Burnley have fourth straight game postponed vs Leicester due to COVID cases

Leicester City vs Burnley has become the latest Premier League fixture to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is Burnley’s fourth game postponed this season, but the first time that the club has requested for a postponement.

Here is what the league has said about the request made by them: “The Premier League Board accepted Burnley’s application as the club does not have the required number of players available for the match, due to Covid-19 cases and injuries.”

Burnley have yet another fixture postponed

The Clarets had three consecutive games against Watford, Aston Villa and Everton postponed due to the opponents being unable to field a team. They also had their game against Tottenham Hotspur postponed due to excessive snowfall.

The game against Watford is set to be played soon, but it seems like that fixture will be in doubt following the recent news.

The Foxes have now had their second consecutive game postponed due to coronavirus, after their game against Everton in midweek had to be rescheduled. Brendan Rodgers is also without several key players due to AFCON.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche only recently came out of isolation following a positive COVID-19 test. He was unable to stay on the touchline for the FA Cup loss against Huddersfield Town, with assistant manager Ian Woan replacing him.

The team is also having to deal with the loss of Maxwell Cornet due to the AFCON, and Chris Wood, after Newcastle United activated his £25 million release clause recently.
