What’s New in Apex Legends: Guarded Airdrops Shake Up the Meta
The biggest addition? Guarded Airdrops hitting the ground with squads of hostile Spectres protecting Mythic weapons. Unlike regular Care Packages, these drops require tactical combat before claiming premium loot.
Available Mythic Weapons:
- Kraber – Devastating .50cal sniper with 6-10x variable optic
- Grand Slam – Melee baseball bat with knockout power
- Power Sword – High-damage close-combat weapon
You’ll need to fight through AI defenders AND competing squads, creating intense three-way battles across the frozen map.
Ice-Cold Wild Cards Transform Gameplay
Three new Wild Cards add strategic depth:
Flash Freeze – Silences enemy abilities on shield break
Do-Over – Free self-revive when teammates score knockdowns
Super Cells – Fully charge shields with a single Shield Cell
Returning options include Personal Space (increased melee knockback) and Hard Hitter (boosted melee damage).
Winter Olympus: Snowglobe Battlefield
Olympus receives a full holiday makeover with snow-covered landscapes, festive decorations, and winter-themed EVO Orbs. High-speed ziprails enable quick rotations and increased combat frequency.

FAQs
Q: Do I need to purchase anything to participate in Merry Mayhem?
Q: What’s the best strategy for claiming Guarded Airdrops?
Land near Airdrops with full squad coordination. Prioritize eliminating Spectres quickly using focused fire, then immediately establish defensive positions against third parties. Consider using the new Flash Freeze Wild Card to disable enemy abilities during shield breaks. Secure Mythic weapons like the Kraber first, then control high ground using Winter Olympus’ ziprails for quick escapes.
