Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has quietly implemented another adjustment to its popular ₹107 prepaid plan, cutting the validity period from 28 days to now just 22 days without any change in price. This change means that customers will have to recharge more frequently to maintain their mobile service, effectively making the plan more expensive on a per-day basis despite the unchanged recharge amount.

  • Unlimited data with speed throttled to 40kbps after 3GB.
  • 200 minutes of voice calls applicable for local, STD, roaming, and MTNL networks.
  • SMS and calling charges applied post free limits as usual.

This trimming of validity without a price change results in a de facto tariff hike as customers need to recharge more frequently to retain the same level of services. The move appears aimed at nudging users toward higher-value recharge packs, contributing to BSNL’s revenue optimization amid ongoing network upgrades and the upcoming rollout of 5G services.

Other popular plans, including the ₹197 pack, have also seen a drop in validity—from 54 days to 42.

FAQs

Q1: What is the new validity period of BSNL’s ₹107 prepaid plan?

The latest revision reduces the validity from 28 days to 22 days while offering the same data and calling benefits at the same price.

Q2: Why is BSNL reducing the validity instead of increasing the plan price?

BSNL appears to be quietly increasing tariffs by cutting the validity, which encourages more frequent recharges and helps the company push more customers toward higher-value plans, optimizing revenue without announced price hikes.
