Official: Bruno Guimaraes signs new contract with Newcastle United until 2028

Following their massive 4-1 win over PSG, Bruno Guimaraes has officially signed his new contract with Newcastle United. The midfielder has extended his deal until 2028, which also includes a release clause worth over £100 million to facilitate a future transfer. 

The Brazilian has made 67 appearances for the Magpies since joining them from Lyon in January 2022, and has quickly become a fan favourite. He has scored 11 goals and provided eight assists for the club so far, becoming a fan-favourite and helping Eddie Howe’s side return to the Champions League after 20 years.

“The fans have made me feel at home since my first day here and I feel so loved in my life,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’m so happy here. It’s a place that is so comfortable to be and I hope to keep making the supporters happy and helping the team do well. That’s my goal, because there are no words to describe how happy I am to be here.

“I remember in my first interview, I said I wanted to play for this club in the Champions League and now it’s happening. We are doing so well and when I look around the pitch at my team-mates, I am so proud of them all. I’m proud of everyone; the team, the staff, the owners and the fans.

“The city believes again and it’s unbelievable what we have done for the team. I hope that this can continue. It’s amazing what has happened in my life in the last two years.”

After his impressive performances for Newcastle, he has earned 14 caps for the Brazilian national team while scoring one goal. Now, he has committed his future to the club at a time when they have returned to the Champions League and are one of the top clubs in the country again.
