Brendan Rodgers verbally agrees to join Manchester United

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly in talks with Manchester United to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjær at the club. The Norwegian has come under extreme pressure in recent weeks, losing both derbies against Liverpool and Manchester City in embarrassing fashion at Old Trafford.

According to Caught Offside, Brendan Rodgers has verbally agreed to take the job at Old Trafford. However, there are still some obstacles to the deal being completed. Solskjær does not believe that he is on borrowed time, despite the recent losses to both of their biggest rivals.

The Manchester United board held a meeting about Solskjær’s future after the 5-0 thrashing at home. They decided then to give him another chance to redeem himself, and he earned a 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur. However, a draw against Atalanta in the Champions League and another Old Trafford defeat to Manchester City have put the pressure back on his shoulders.

Brendan Rodgers has done a remarkable job at Leicester City, turning them into regular competitors for a Champions League place. Under the guidance of Rodgers, Leicester lifted the Community Shield and FA Cup last year, capping off an impressive season despite missing out on the Champions League on the final day.

Rodgers is surely set up for a bigger job in the future, but his history with Liverpool might prove to be a stumbling block in the move to Old Trafford. He has also been very successful with Celtic in Scotland, before moving to Merseyside, and now to Leicester.
