Military drama fans have a new binge waiting for them. “SEAL Team,” the long-running action series that built a loyal following across two networks, is officially heading to Netflix — and it’s bringing serious firepower with it.

SEAL : Key Details

Detail	Info
Netflix Release Date	August 18, 2026
Seasons Confirmed	Multiple (exact count TBA)
Original Network	CBS, later Paramount+
Total Seasons	7
Lead Actor	David Boreanaz as Jason Hayes

What the Show Is About

“SEAL Team” follows Bravo Team, an elite unit of Navy SEALs, as they carry out dangerous, high-stakes missions around the globe while balancing the toll it takes on their personal lives. David Boreanaz leads the cast as Jason Hayes, the team’s respected but weathered commander, alongside Max Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., A.J. Buckley, Toni Trucks, and Jessica Paré.

The series premiered on CBS back in 2017 and spent its first four seasons on broadcast television before making an unexpected jump to streaming midway through season five. That move let the writers push into darker, grittier territory than network TV typically allows, and the show ultimately wrapped its run with a seventh and final season.

Why It’s Coming to Netflix

This release is part of a larger licensing agreement between Netflix and Paramount that’s also bringing other titles like “Mayor of Kingstown” and “Watson” to the platform. So far, only one major show from this deal — “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” — has actually landed on Netflix, making “SEAL Team” the next big addition fans have been waiting for.

While the exact number of seasons hasn’t been confirmed yet, “multiple” seasons are expected to drop at once, making it a strong candidate for a late-summer binge.

Don’t Confuse It With the Animated Movie

If the title rings a bell for a different reason, you might be thinking of Netflix’s own animated film of the same name — a comedy about a seal assembling a team to fight off sharks. This new release is the live-action military drama, not the animated feature, though both are worth a watch in their own right.
