Brad Pitt Is Back as Cliff Booth — And These HQ First Look Stills Prove Netflix’s Most Anticipated Movie of 2026 Is Going to Be Dark

For weeks, fans have been squinting at blurry bootleg footage captured off living room TVs. The wait is finally over. High-quality stills from The Adventures of Cliff Booth — the Quentin Tarantino-scripted, David Fincher-directed Netflix event — have surfaced, and they reveal a film that looks very different from what came before.

What Is The Adventures of Cliff Booth?

Quentin Tarantino originally penned the script as a continuation of Rick Dalton’s lethal best friend and stunt double from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, before handing directorial duties to David Fincher (Se7en, The Social Network, The Killer) after Brad Pitt reportedly convinced Tarantino to pass the reins.

The film is reported to carry an estimated budget of around $200 million, with longstanding Fincher collaborator Kirk Baxter confirmed as editor.

What Do the New Stills Reveal?

The high-quality stills — sourced via The Fincher Analyst — give a clear view of a gritty, neon-drenched alternate history of 1970s Los Angeles, considerably darker in tone than Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Brad Pitt slides effortlessly back into Cliff Booth’s denim and aviators, while teaser footage features creatively animated censorship graphics hinting at the film’s exploitation-style, seedy Hollywood underbelly.

The teaser itself made its surprise debut during Super Bowl LX in February 2026, watched by around 120 million viewers — but Netflix chose not to release it officially online, leaving fans to analyse low-resolution recordings for weeks.

Star-Studded Supporting Cast

Alongside Brad Pitt, the film features Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown, Tenet), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen), Carla Gugino (Gerald’s Game), Timothy Olyphant returning as Jim Stacy, and Scott Caan (Ocean’s Eleven).
