Less than 24 hours after their Kalinga Super Cup 2024 win, Borja Herrera is set to leave East Bengal to sign for FC Goa on loan until the end of the season. The midfielder will complete his move within the next few days, signing until the end of the season.
He will replace Victor Rodriguez at FC Goa, with the player suffering an injury that will rule him out for a considerable amount of time. The Gaurs intend to continue with their plans of recruiting high profile foreign players to bolster their squad, and have decided to reunite Borja Herrera with head coach Manolo Marquez.
Borja Herrera to sign for FC Goa from East Bengal
Rodriguez suffered an injury in the Gaurs’ 4-1 win over Mohun Bagan SG at the Salt Lake Stadium. And since then, the club has been on the lookout for a player to replace him. With a creative player like Herrera, they will be getting a great deal to help them challenge for the title.
Herrera has worked with Marquez on two occasions before. The pair worked together at Hyderabad FC, and Marquez handed him his LaLiga debut too, when they were both at Las Palmas in 2017.
The combination could prove to be a masterstroke once again, with FC Goa the only unbeaten team in ISL this far. To replace their number 26, East Bengal are preparing to sign Victor Vazquez, a former Barcelona player who plays for Toronto in the MLS.
