Four weeks in and Border 2 is still showing up. On its 4th Wednesday, the war drama starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty added an estimated Rs. 45 lakh to the tally, pushing its running total to approximately Rs. 302.50 crore nett. The theatrical run is clearly winding down, but the numbers it’s already put up tell a story of solid success.
Bollywood hasn’t had too many genuine war epics lately, but Border 2 — inspired by the legacy of the iconic 1997 original Border film — delivered the patriotic spectacle that audiences came for, especially in northern India.

A Hit Film — But One That Could Have Been Bigger
Let’s be real: crossing Rs. 300 crore nett is no small achievement. Border 2 is already a confirmed HIT venture, and it stands as the second-highest grosser of Sunny Deol’s career — a career-best for Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty as well.

The film fired hardest in northern circuits. Rajasthan is reportedly close to a BLOCKBUSTER verdict, while Delhi-UP and East Punjab delivered SUPER HIT business. The underwhelming performance, however, came from Gujarat and Central India circuits — markets you’d ordinarily expect to deliver strongly for a Sunny Deol patriotic drama. That gap is what separates a Rs. 300 crore finish from what could’ve been closer to Rs. 350–375 crore.
With a projected lifetime finish of Rs. 305–310 crore nett, it still lands comfortably in profitable territory for T-Series Films and JP Films. Just for context, Deol’s Gadar 2 crossed Rs. 500 crore — so while Border 2 doesn’t reach that stratosphere, it more than justifies its existence as a franchise revival.
