boltt 3+4 Software Commitment: Long-Term Software Support Finally Comes to Budget Phones

Buying a budget smartphone used to mean bracing for outdated software within a year or two. boltt is looking to change that narrative with its new 3+4 Software Commitment, promising Evo and Ace users years of meaningful support long after the purchase is made.

boltt 3+4 : Overview

What the Commitment Actually Covers

The framework is straightforward: both the Ace 5G and Evo will receive three major Android OS upgrades, keeping the software experience current across multiple Android generations, along with four years of security updates. Updates will roll out at least once every quarter, and critical security patches will be released outside the regular cycle whenever urgent vulnerabilities need addressing. The support timeline is counted transparently from each device’s official launch date.

Why This Matters for Budget Buyers

Long-term software support has traditionally been reserved for flagship devices, leaving budget and mid-range smartphone buyers with shorter update lifespans. boltt’s move signals a shift in how value is being defined in this segment — not just by specs at the time of purchase, but by how long a device stays secure, current, and dependable.

Founder & CEO Arnav Kishore framed the initiative as a trust-building move, emphasizing that value shouldn’t stop the day a phone is bought, and that standing behind the product for years afterward is central to earning consumer confidence.

Pricing and Availability

Both devices launch exclusively on Flipkart starting September 1, with special Day 1 pricing shaving ₹1,000 off the Ace 5G and Evo respectively. It’s worth noting that actual rollout timelines for updates may vary depending on chipset support, Google certification requirements, and other technical dependencies.
