Bokshi vs Reporting Live: Your October 9 Weekend Watchlist for Theatres and Netflix

After the Drishyam: The Conclusion rush, the second week of October is a quiet one for Hindi cinema. Just two titles arrive, and they couldn’t be more different. One will keep you up with the lights on. The other will keep you hooked on a very real-sounding scandal.

Both land on October 9, 2026, so your Friday night plan is basically settled.

This Week’s Movie Releases

Bokshi: Witchcraft, a School Trip and a Haunted Forest

Bokshi is an indie folk horror film, and its setup is chilling. A traumatised teenager named Anahita goes on a school field trip into the remote forests of Sikkim. There she comes face to face with ancient witchcraft and her own destiny.

Folk horror works best when the setting feels like a character, and a remote Himalayan forest is a great stage for it. Indie horror also tends to rely on atmosphere over jump scares, which is a nice change from the usual formula. If you like slow-burn dread, this one is worth a theatre seat.

Reporting Live: A Journalist, a Cameraman and a Sand-Mining Empire

Reporting Live is the streaming pick. An ambitious professional woman and her reluctant cameraman set out to expose a corrupt sand-mining empire. Then they discover they are the ones in the crosshairs.

The multi-starrer cast helps the film. Parineeti Chopra leads an ensemble that includes veterans like Amol Palekar and Shekhar Suman, plus Adil Hussain and Deven Bhojani. That is a lot of acting weight for a thriller.

Which One Should You Pick?

• Want a cinema outing and a good scare? Go for Bokshi.
• Prefer a cosy couch and a gripping story? Pick Reporting Live on Netflix.
• Can’t decide? Watch Reporting Live at home first, then catch Bokshi on the big screen.
