A Board Game Based on Cyberpunk 2077 Is Under Development

Cyberpunk 2077, a tabletop roleplaying game, has been transformed into a different type of tabletop product in the shape of a board game.

Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City is a board game currently being funded on Kickstarter by CD Projekt and CMON. The latter company here publishes several physical titles, including those with external IPs such as Marvel, Bloodborne, God of War, and others.

As per the official description, it claims that the Cyberpunk Board game is a competitive game in which 1 to 4 people play as vicious gangs battling for control of the underground in the dazzling horrible place that is Night City.

Clash with rival gangs in the meat or on the Internet as your entrepreneurial band of toughs tries to take control of the criminal underworld that governs the streets. Only the most daring will be remembered, and your Street Cred will propel you to the top.

The Kickstarter campaign exceeded its $100,000 goal after its launch. It has received $279,503 from 3,735 backers at the time of publication. If you want to become one of those supporters, you can only do so at the $110 (R1 759) “Edgerunner Pledge” tier, which unlocks the board game core box, all bonus incentives/stretch goals, and an Edgerunner based on V.

This price ought to be weighed against the fairly substantial shipping rates, particularly for individuals in countries and regions where delivery is frequently discounted or even free. The breakdown of shipping charges can be found here, and the delivery fee for those of us in South Africa is absurdly excessive at $125 – $144 (R1 998 – R2 301).

Board Game Pricing

We appreciate that board games are huge and delicate objects that can be difficult to send, but we have to believe that this pricing will deter most people from participating in the project.

Having said that, previous CMON board games have evolved into retail products that are now widely available in local retailers. For example, the aforementioned Bloodborne card game is publicly available in South Africa.

A trailer is embedded above to generate interest in the project. The trailer, however, does not show much of the board game itself because it is made up of sequences from the videogames mixed with 3D models of the board game pieces.

Furthermore, we also came to know from the sources that a new Cyberpunk 2077 anime will be released in September, with the show’s protagonist already being mentioned in the game two years ago.
