OFFICIAL: Robbie Fowler is the new head coach of East Bengal

Liverpool legend and former England international, Robbie Fowler, is set to become the new head coach of East Bengal this season. The discussion between the two parties had started last month. East Bengal will start their ISL journey this month. FSDL has already confirmed the addition of the Red & Golds yesterday.

Robbie Fowler started his managerial career in 2011 with Muangthong United and made them 3rd in the league in his first season. After that, he didn’t manage any team until last season. Robbie Fowler has managed Brisbane Roar last season in Australian A-league who has finished fourth in the league. Unfortunately, the team lost in the knock out against Western United FC by 0-1.

According to reports, Robbie Fowler has signed a new deal with East Bengal. He will bring top-level coaching set up from England. Some of his staff will have Premier League experience as well. Some Indian staff will also be included in his coaching team.

East Bengal has already signed some of the talented Indian youngsters and also linked with some of the experienced foreigners like Andrew Surman, Scott Neville, and many others.

Owner of East Bengal Hari Mohan Bangur Said, “We have signed the contract last night (Thursday) and Robbie Fowler is expected to join the side directly in Goa within a week.”

“As of now, we have offered him a two-year contract which could be extended in due course.”- he added.

ISL is going to start from 20th November. East Bengal has very less time to settle. Bangur said, “We are already short on preparation, and will start with a handicap. So, he will assemble the squad as early as possible in Goa. We will look to make a competitive side.”

East Bengal is ready to maintain the legacy in the new league as well. Robbie Fowler will surely guide them in the right direction with his experience.

Chelsea outcast Victor Moses to be loaned out to Spartak Moscow

Following the completion of his loan spell at Inter Milan under former manager Antonio Conte, Victor Moses has returned to his parent club, Chelsea. However, he is not part of Frank Lampard’s plans for the 20/21 season, at the very least. 

The wing-back is supposed to be loaned out to Russian team Spartak Moscow for the full season. Though the transfer window is shut in England, it is still open in Russia and players can still depart their clubs. 

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Spartak Moscow are the frontrunners in securing the wing-back’s sighature on a season long loan. 

The Nigerian international wanted to rejoin Inter Milan in Serie A but the club are unwilling to extend his loan deal or sign him permanently. Which is understandable after the signing of Real Madrid youngster Achraf Hakimi this summer. 

With the likes of Hakimi and Young already at the club, Moses would be down the pecking order for minutes despite a huge amount of fixtures to be played throughout the year. 

According to sources, Inter did not make a bid for the Nigerian full-back due to the club owners not approving the move. Inter are stacked in options for the wing-back position and in all honesty, had no reason to make a bid for Moses anyway.

Things don’t look too good for him at Chelsea either, with James and Azpilicueta ahead of him in the competition for game time. 

The deal is expected to be completed in the next few days, and the player will spend the entire season on loan in Russia. 

It is a wise decision for both parties since Moses will be able to have a decent amount of minutes at Spartak whereas Chelsea will be able to cut out his wages from their payroll.

Semiconductor war is booming in the tech industry with many of the silicon manufacturing giants pushing for independency and increasing their tech efficiency. With Nvidia’s acquisition of ARM and Apple pushing its in-house processors for its MacBook along with Intel releasing its 10nm based 11th generation processors, it seems every semiconductor giant is pushing for a change.

However, we were yet to receive any update from AMD. But now it seems that the Advanced Micro Devices Inc. is finally revealing its cards.

The company is reportedly in advanced discussions to buy Xilinx Inc. this takeover is supposedly $30 billion in value. The deal is reported to be finalized as early as next week.

Analyst claims that if AMD successfully acquires Xilinx Inc., it would give AMD the right resources need to break intel’s stronghold in the data-center computer components manufacturing market.

It will be a tough competition for AMD however, as it is not the only company looking to snatch intel’s throne in the data center market. Nvidia is also behind intel with the release of its latest Bluefield Data Processing Unit.

Xilinx is one of the leading manufacturers of programmable chips that power wireless networks.

This gives AMD an added advantage to expand its business in the telecommunication market and build a 5G network.

The total share value of Xilinx Inc. is termed to be approximately a quarter of AMD’s total share value. AMD has been a long-time competitor of Intel in desktop and notebook grade CPU, but it still lacks Intel in terms of the server-grade CPU market. The acquisition of Xilinx will boost AMD’s server-grade technology and make it a neck-to-neck competitor of its long-time rival, Intel.

With the advancement in cloud computing and companies Amazon and Microsoft looking to expand their cloud computing ground stations, the demand to increase cloud service data centers’ efficiency is increasing. AMD’s latest interest in Xilinx indicates that the company is ready to enhance the technology for its future endeavors.

The Amazon Great Indian Festival sale is on the doorstep and the e-commerce platform is preparing itself in a very fast manner. As a part of it, Amazon India put the renders of the new Coolpad Cool 6 renders on its wall. Surprisingly, in the era of V-shaped and punch hole front camera cutout, the company is daring to land with the old pop-up camera mechanism.

The renders reveal some of the details regarding the upcoming smartphone. It includes camera specs, storage options, processor details, and color variants.

Camera

The new Coolpad Cool 6 is coming with a triple camera setup that unites a 48MP main sensor, two other shooters of 2MP each, and an LED flash. All are aligned vertically on the left side. On the other hand, the selfie camera with the pop-up mechanics is of a 21MP sensor. Both from and rear cameras are compatible with night mode, HDR, UHD, and pro mode. The rear camera module has panorama and intelligent scanning, whereas the front camera has built-in filters and beauty mode.

The Coolpad Cool 6 is powered by the MediaTek P70 which is a 12nm based octa-core processor. It has four big ARM Cortex-A73 cores, four small and power-efficient ARM Cortex-A53, and ARM Mali-G72MP3 GPU.

Coolpad is providing two storage options – 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB. Each one has a further two color variants – Blue and Silver.

Though there is nothing mentioned apart from the above information, we can easily extract the design details along with the presence of rear fingerprint scanner, and buttons placements.

In the front, there is negligible bezels, rather than the chin, and the left and right edges in the back are slightly curved. The Coolpad logo is placed in the same line with the camera module, at the bottom.

As I said earlier, the fingerprint scanner is there on the rear side. The power button and volume buttons are peeking up from the right side of the smartphone.

Yet to reveal

The details regarding screen resolution, battery capacity, charging features, pricing, and availability are yet to come out.

It’s sure that the Coolpad Cool 6 is an Amazon Special product and will be available during the Great Indian Festival sale. But the exact date and time is not announced.

Manchester United suffered a humiliating defeat, to say the least, against Tottenham Hotspur in the last game week of the Premier League. The scoreline read 1-6 at full time, and the international break could not have come sooner for United.

Media reports have indicated that there was a general feeling of anger and frustration at Old Trafford during and post the match. Obviously, a huge defeat does not naturally sit well with some players who are keen to show their worth. The fact that Martial was sent off for an alleged blow on Erik Lamela added to the general narrative. 

But for a team challenging for domestic honours and a place in the Top 4, cannot concede four goals within a first half even if the opposition is someone like Tottenham Hotspur. It only seeks to raise doubts and questions over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position as manager of the club.

An inquest had already been opened after the team’s 3-1 loss against Crystal Palace. With a good amount of investment made this season, the progress also needs to be made a few steps forward. The dressing room would not be encouraged by the fact that the club is heading in a direction, converse to their stature and objectives.

Quite honestly, the international break seems to suit all the parties involved to take a step back and re-evaluate with regards to what went wrong. Perhaps in retrospect, the players would think that some mistakes could have been easily avoided.

And it is when the going gets tough, that the squad as an entirety will look to bounce back together rather than playing the blame game and pointing fingers at each other. United now sit 13th in the Premier League table with 1 win and 2 losses. They will need to shore up efforts and put in a stronger show, starting against Newcastle United on October 17.

Chelsea’s new signing Mendy injured on International break

For just about a week or so, Chelsea fans breathed a sigh of relief due to the arrival of Edouard Mendy from Rennes. However, the keeper might be out for the next few weeks, as declared by the Senegalese Football Federation. 

The board announced on their official website that Mendy had suffered an injury to his right thigh during a training session on the 7th of October. He has since undergone medical checks at a hospital in Rabat and has subsequently returned to Chelsea where his condition will be evaluated further. 

It is almost safe to say that Frank Lampard will not be able to have Mendy in goal when the Blues play Southampton on October 17, following the end of the international break. 

The manager will most likely turn to his now second-choice keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Spaniard has been prone to making mistakes at the back, which caused Chelsea to sign Mendy for backup in the first place. 

However, speaking at a press conference during the international break, Kepa said that he is willing to fight for his place at the club.

Kepa is Chelsea’s most expensive player of all time and is the most expensive goalkeeper in the world. Going on his words, his attitude seems to be right. 

However, it remains to be seen whether he can remain confident on the pitch where his performances have been shaky to say the very least.

Everton dominate monthly Premier League awards

The Premier League monthly awards have been announced, and both the Player of the Month and the Manager of the Month have gone to Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Carlo Ancelotti respectively. 

Calvert Lewin has been the most in-form striker this season with six goals to his name in the Premier League already. He also looks to be in contention for the England squad set to participate in the Euro 2021 next year. 

Considering that he’s only played four matches, and has bagged the first hat-trick of his senior career, the stats don’t lie when it comes to the Englishman’s records. 

The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals across all competitions this season already, making his debut for England last night where he headed in his first goal for his country alongside fellow first-timers Connor Coady and Danny Ings. 

On the other side of the pitch, Don Carlo’s Everton have been seemingly unstoppable in the four matchdays already played, winning all of their fixtures to find themselves at the top of the table this season. 

Due to the impressive performance of the Toffees on the pitch, Carlo Ancelotti has become the first Manager of the Month award recipient for the 20/21 season. 

Following an impressive transfer window performance by the Merseyside blues this summer, the team has come alive in the early goings of the season, netting 4 against Crystal Palace and 5 against West Brom whilst maintaining composure on all fronts.

IPL 2020: Star Sports Hindi again the top-most channel as IPL continues the highest ratings for the second week

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 is now around three weeks old. Obviously, the matches are carried out in empty stadiums. The teams won’t have the support of their 12th man, which is the crowd!

One may think that can have an impact on the business aspect of the sport. However, exactly the opposite of that has happened. Due to the pandemic situation and almost every entertainment source being on hold, more people are tuning in to their TV sets or online platforms. The IPL 2020 is thus set to break all the viewership records.

The BARC India has released the ratings of the first week of the IPL (19th September to 25th September). The numbers were obviously through the roof. Star Sports 1 Hindi became the number 1 channel across all genres. This includes literally every genre like entertainment, news, etc. The channel for the first time had 1,247,407 (Weekly impressions in 1000’s). Other Star channels Star Utsav and Star Plus were at number 2 and number 3 respectively as well.

The BARC India has now released the ratings for the second week of the IPL 2020 and the results have surpassed even the first week numbers.

Star Sports 1 Hindi becomes the number 1 channel again!

The first week numbers were a tough act to follow. The second week numbers, however, the viewership numbers increased by a further 3-4%.

Star Sports 1 Hindi is still the number 1 channel across all genres for the second week on the charts. The Star Sports 1 Hindi had topped with 1,300,769 (Weekly impressions in 1000’s). Other Star channels Star Utsav and Star Plus are at number 2 and number 3 respectively as well.

The match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore became the top rated game of the week. The most for any television program of the week.
