Chelsea looking to extend Thiago Silva’s contract till 2022

0

Ever since joining Chelsea after his contract at PSG expired, Thiago Silva has helped to completely transform Chelsea’s defense. Frank Lampard had a difficult first season in charge of his former playing club, and the Englishman struggled to build cohesion at the backline.

The Brazilian is pivotal to Lampard’s new look centre-back partnership and has really settled in with Kurt Zouma alongside him. Chelsea originally recruited the 36-year-old on a one year deal. However, there was an option for the club to extend the deal by a year.

As per numerous reports coming out of the British capital, Chelsea are reportedly interested in extending Silva’s contract till 2022.

The saying that age is just a number is perfectly brought to life by the veteran defender. Despite him being well past his prime, he has adapted well to the English style of football, often deemed the most difficult league in the world.

Chelsea’s defensive numbers speak for themselves. They have conceded only one goal in the Champions League, and have the best defensive record of all the participating teams. Despite being three games into the competition, they had conceded no goals alongside fellow English club Liverpool.

In the Premier League, they have conceded 10 goals and have the joint-highest goal difference in the league alongside London rivals Spurs.

The player himself has expressed his happiness when it comes to playing for Chelsea multiple times. His physical prowess might not be at its best, but he can still perform on the pitch and offer stability to the Chelsea time.

Having the likes of Mendy and Zouma alongside him, communication is not a problem due to all three players knowing French. This has helped Chelsea immensely improve on their backline and extending Silva’s contract will be a great move by the club to secure the next season as well.

Apple MacBook Air with its M1 chipset buries the competition in AnTuTu benchmark

0

Apple’s A14 Bionic has taken the lead and is now the world’s fastest mobile processor. With the company’s M1 chipset also creating ripples in the semiconductor market it seems that Apple has some big plans for its silicon manufacturing unit.

In the latest AnTuTu benchmark testing, it was seen that there is one particular Apple device that has the best performance in terms of iOS platform devices. we are talking about the MacBook Air that has utterly destroyed the rankings of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro fourth-generation device. The device is after all powered by the company’s ARM-based M1 SoC. the MacBook Air manages to score a massive 1,119,243 points (+48.19%) while the iPad Pro 4 managed 755,294.

According to sources, AnTuTu has reported that the M1 system was recorded as an iPad Pro running iOS 14.2 but the MacBook Air obviously runs on macOS. Looking at the AnTuTu benchmark and the comparison with the current iOS benchmark leader, it seems that Apple was correct with its decision to switch to the ARM architecture for this powerful new SoC.

The individual specs of the new MacBook Air are also impressive. It has 8 GB of RAM along with 512 GB of storage memory. the individual UX is of +38.66%, MEM being +64.98%, and the GPU at +43.78% finally the CPU is at massive +50.65% scores. All the scores are ahead by a mile of the iPad Pro 4 (6 GB + 128 GB).

Of course, we are not comparing the overall features here, but the difference in the CPU and GPU performance is quite notable. With over 50% performance gain, the CPU part of the M1 SoC makes the impressive A12Z Bionic look practically outdated at this stage.

Facebook to settle consumer privacy violation suit by paying $650 million dollars to more than a million users

0

Facebook was involved in a lawsuit that claimed that the social media giant had caused harm to consumer privacy. According to sources, the social media giant was accused of collecting the biometric images using its phot-tagging feature without the consent of the general public. Apparently, the suit was settled with Facebook agreeing to pay $650 million in settlement to the Illinois residents and administration.

But recently Facebook has stated that it will only make payouts to about a quarter of the 6 million Illinois residents. According to the social media giant, the payouts will only be made to those residents that are eligible for the consumer privacy settlement.

According to sources, in the biggest consumer privacy settlement in Facebook’s history; about 1.57 million people will pocket more than $300 each. And about a third of the $650 million worth settlement fund will be set aside for Illinois attorneys and administrative costs.

Considering that the lawsuit was not dragged to court but was instead settled, Facebook managed to save itself from paying a lot more. Out of all the residents involved in the case, not everyone had filed for privacy violations and if the users had taken the company to trial; they could have easily sought damages of as much as $5,000 for each. It was not merely a case of personal privacy violation but also a violation of the Illinois Biometric Privacy Information Act, which is a pretty big deal. So Facebook saved itself from a lot of trouble there folks.

Apparently, it was not easy for Facebook to get out of this situation. According to sources, the company got the U.S. District Judge James Donato on board it added an extra $100 million to the original settlement of $550 million. To add the cherry, Facebook offered that it would ping its users directly through their accounts to alert them of the cash jackpot. And thus the final approval of the deal is scheduled for early in 2021. With the settlement, Facebook surely has to pay the biggest consumer privacy settlement but also will avoid what could have been the biggest blunder in its history.

Square Enix allows its employees to work permanently on a work-from-home basis

Covid-19 has taken its toll on the entire world. The economy of countries worldwide has been in turmoil and is slowly showing signs of improvements. With companies like Microsoft and Facebook already allowing their employees to work from home, it seems like it is becoming our new norm.

Recently, Square Enix, the studio behind games like the Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Tomb Raider games, has stated that it’ll allow most of its employees to permanently work from home. The policy will come into effect from December 1st. according to sources, the policy will make the employees designated as either “home-based” or “office-based.” According to sources, Square Enix expects 80 percent of its employees to be designated as home-based from December.

The company aims to create a “flexible and diverse working environment, helping employees achieve the optimal work-life balance and bolster productivity.” The policy is design to help the company better adapt in the future, whether it’s to disasters or just new employment models.

The home-based employee will work from home for at least three days a week on average, or vice versa for office-based workers. They are, however, able to change their status every month. Some employees will need to be based in an office, depending on the work they’re doing, Square Enix says.

The company first implemented its work-from-home policy in February in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then it also introduced other initiatives like staggered working hours and online conferencing. It adds that 80 percent of its employees said they had a positive view of working from home when surveyed.

The company is a major game development firm. It contributes to an expanding list of companies that have pledged to continue to allow their employees to work from home even after it’s no longer necessary on health grounds.

Apple’s next 16-inch MacBook will come with an AMD exclusive RDNA 2 GPU

0

We already know that Apple has a new 16-ich MacBook Pro planned that will be launched soon. But sources claim it won’t be coming with Apple’s very own M1 chipset. Instead, the laptop may have an exciting piece of hardware inside. According to a leaker @TheGalox_, AMD will be delivering mobile RDNA 2 GPUs to Apple, and the GPUs will have no desktop counterparts.

Sources claim that Apple will most likely offer the next 16-inch MacBook Pro with the Radeon RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT. Both cards will build on AMD’s Navi 22 GPUs.This is not the first time we see Apple hog on exclusive chips from its partners, whether it may be AMD or Intel.

The current 16-inch MacBook Pro laptop is powered with the Radeon Pro 5600M. and it is the only notebook that offers that card. Thus it’s not hard to believe that the same case may be followed about the Radeon RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT.

The release date and other spec details of the next 16-inch MacBook Pro have not yet been made public by the company. But there are rumors that it would be launched by the end of December 2020. Many outlets claim that AMD will unveil the RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT desktop versions in January.

Thus we can only guess that the new 16-inch MacBook Pro will most likely be pushed to January 2021. With the launch of Apple’s very own M1 chipset, the company is soaring heights in the Notebook market. With more products lined-up to be launched and its exclusive deal with AMD to be unfolding real soon. It seems that 2021 will see a blast of various Apple products.

Microsoft delayed Xbox Series X and S production to get full RDNA 2 features

0

To import all the features of RDNA 2, Microsoft started the manufacturing of Xbox Series X and S consoles with a bit of delay. Phil Spencer revealed that information in an interview with The Verge.

Microsoft started the manufacturing of its new console in the late summer, whereas Sony started earlier, without waiting for AMD’s final design of its new GPU architecture. The company said that “Xbox Series X|S are the only next-generation consoles with full hardware support for all the RDNA 2 capabilities”. This features Mesh Shaders, Variable Rate Shading, hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing, and Sample Feedback Streaming. AMD stated that both the PS5 and Xbox are based on RDNA 2 architecture.

Having Variable Rate Shading, the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S is offering a powerful gaming performance and the console is able to render different parts of the game differently. Xbox Series X|S has a slower SSD compared to the PS5, even though the Xbox console loads the game faster than the PS5 with the help of Sampler Feedback Streaming.

Phil also said that Microsoft is going to manufacture a large amount of Xbox Series X compared to the Xbox Series S. On the launch day, Xbox had a record sale and the company is going to restock the console again in the coming weeks.

In, coming Spring, we could see a huge stock availability for Xbox Series S. Spencer says, “Over the long run, in most cases, price wins out,”. Microsoft Xbox Series X and S both are available in India, whereas the PS5 still hasn’t launched in India.
