Intel just cannot match AMD’s dominance in CPU sales as per latest Mindfactory report

0

Even without Zen 3 CPUs, AMD holds 84.92% share

People are pumped with AMD’s latest Ryzen 5000 series processors, however, their low availability remains a big issue. Still, without any Zen 3 CPU, AMD is dominating the sales chart as per the latest Mindfactory report by TechEpiphany.

Intel was far behind the Ryzen 3000 in terms of sales and now it seems even without Ryzen 5000 series in full fledge, the Blue team cannot catch AMD. I was quite sceptical about the Ryzen 3000XT CPUs, but it seems AMD knew this condition would arise, so the same priced 3000XT CPUs have become much more popular.

The midweek sales show all of the Ryzen 5, 7 and 9 CPUs selling like hotcakes and the top three being AMD’s Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 5 3600XT and Ryzen 5 3600. Unsurprisingly, among the top 10 best selling CPUs, all of them were from AMD.

Intel though had better sales for the mid-range CPUs like Core i7-10700K, Core i5-10600K or the flagship Core i9-10850K. Intel’s 9th gen CPUs also provide good value when they are discounted, whereas AMD’s budget Ryzen 3 3100 or Ryzen 5 2600 or Ryzen 7 2700X still holds better value than newer ones.

As wee see a total of 5490 AMD CPUs were sold with respect to Intel’s 975 units, and in terms of revenue AMD holds 82.41% revenue whereas Intel manages only 17.59%, even without the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. With days, as the condition eases, Intel could see single-digit figures, as well as Ryzen 5000, is better for gaming than 10th Gen Intel CPUs.

Apple, Xiaomi and Samsung among companies facing import hurdles due to India-China scuffle

0

India and China are facing each other at their borders, and the struggle is still ongoing. Amidst all these, the import and export market has been severely hit as most of the technology is imported from China to India. Now we are not talking about India’s dependency on China. Still, most smartphone giants like Apple, which has its hardware parts manufactured in China, had to face tight control of quality clearance for electronic goods. It made Apple’s iPhone 12 to be delayed for sales in the Indian market.

Usually, the clearance was cleared within 15 days of the period, but now the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is taking up to two months or longer. According to sources, the approval is purposefully delayed for China-made imports of devices like smartphones, smartwatches, and laptops. Since the clash with China, India has tightened its rules for China’s investments and has also banned hundreds of Chinese mobile apps, including from tech giants Tencent, Alibaba, and ByteDance. And the App banning is still ongoing.

“While the BIS is delaying approvals for products like smartwatches, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is pushing companies to make these devices in India.”

The clearance delays are the latest headache for technology companies whose supply chains were hit by the COVID-19. Oppo and Xiaomi’s smartwatch business has also been hit due to the delay in the license’s approval. And India’s Trade Ministry has made it compulsory for the tech companies to get a special permit for their import of gadgets. Even the South-Korean tech giant, Samsung, is facing several hurdles due to the new rules.

According to sources, 1,080 applications for laptops, tablets, and other devices were pending near BIS. And 669 of those were waiting for more than 20 days.

Google rolls out YouTube 8K support for select Android TVs

0

There was a time when we were just satisfied to watch video content in 1080p streaming. With the advancement in display technology, we now have Smart TVs offering up to 8K resolution in 30fps and 60fps streaming capabilities. It has changed our perspective of streaming online video content.

Now, YouTube has finally taken the initiative to launch support for 8K streaming for Android TVs. However, the feature will be in beta mode and will only be available to select Android TVs. Nonetheless, it is still a great initiative by YouTube to finally roll out support for 8K streaming. We can soon expect the feature to be made available to even more Android TVs in the future.

According to Sources, the feature is rolling out with YouTube version 2.12.08 on Android TV v10 and above. The updated changelog of the version update stated ‘Limited 8K support to Android 10 and up’. There is also a mentioning of support for ‘Cast Connect.’ The technology will enable Android TV devices to better integrate ‘cast’ content with local playback controls, including control using the remote.

The new update will also bring improvements to the screen resolution selection menu. Google is offering the update to be directly downloaded from Play Store, or users can download the app from APK Mirror.

According to sources, Google has not mentioned ‘AV1 HDR playback support’ in the updated changelog; hence we can assume that the updated software may not support HDR on streams with the .av1 codec.

In the Television market, not many TVs support native 8K video playback. But YouTube offers a vast library of 8K videos ready for streaming. But due to advancements in camera technology that can shoot in 8K resolution, more and more Smart TVs are rolling out with 8K resolution support. And with YouTube finally allowing its App on Android TVs to support the new resolution streaming, we can certainly see users enjoying Google’s new feature.

Apple asks Foxconn to move some of its iPad and MacBook production out of china

1

We all know the ongoing trade dispute between China and the US. What started with something like an attack on TikTok regarding data privacy issues; has now escalated into an all-out trade war between the two countries. Amidst all these tech industries has taken severe damage as it depends highly on Chinese based manufacturers to get their parts manufacturers.

Such is the case with Apple and Foxconn. Due to the US-China scuffle, the Cupertino giant has asked Foxconn to move some of its iPad and MacBook capacity units to its Vietnam facility. According to sources, Foxconn will start the assembly of Apple’s devices, starting from the first half of next year. The production will be based in Bac Giang province. Apple claims that it wants to diversify its supply chain due to the ongoing trade dispute between China and the US.

As to which iPad or Mac models will be assembled in Vietnam is still unknown. and Apple is also lip tight regarding how much of the total production will shift out of China. Well, this isn’t the first time that Apple has shifted its production houses out of china. For a while now, it is using India for the production of certain iPhone models as the US is not the only country that is making it harder for Chinese companies. Even India has introduced strict regulations for the import of hardware manufactured in China.

According to sources, Foxconn will be investing a whopping amount of $270 million in its Vietnam centre to increase its manufacturing capacity. It is also planning to shift more than 30% of its production lines out of china. The trade dispute has caused several delays in the production and release of many devices, and it looks like the tech giants across the world have started to get adjusted to the changing world.

Ministry source reveals no permission is given to ‘PUBG Mobile’ to operate in India

0

According to the rumour, the comeback of PUBG Mobile in India is going to take a pause. InsideSport has been informed by some sources of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) that the corporation has not been granted any permission to re-launch in India.

With many other apps, PUBG Mobile was also banned by the Indian Government in September. Even the company has been approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, permission is still needed to start its operations in India.

On 21st November, PUBG Mobile has registered itself as accompanied by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Now the company has a Corporate Identity Number: U72900KA2020FTC141285, which proves that PUBG Corporation is making the serious step to comeback in the country and ready to agree to all the terms.

Microsoft Azure was questioned by the fans, since the rumor of PUBG return. They said “We don’t have any news to share at this time regarding PUBG Mobile India. Keep an eye on the official website for more information!”

Step 1: Green signal from Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology

PUBG Mobile needs permission from MEITY for the re-launch. The ministry banned PUBG along with many other Chinese apps.

“Any banned entity can’t operate just by floating a new company. This even Tik Tok or anyone else can do. They will have to get permissions from MEITY to operate once again in India”, said one of the sources.

It will take no time to re-launch, PUBG is waiting only for the government’s permission.

Step 2: All government compliances are needed for the comeback

PUBG Mobile India needs to complete all the compliances of the government. Like other business holders, PUBG Mobile also needs a Goods and Services Tax Identification Number. They also have to follow the Indian government’s Foreign Direct Investment guidelines for the gaming industry.

Step 3: PUBG will have to take the assurance of its user data

As per the report, Azure is now the partner of PUBG to host the user data. The corporation is relying on this cloud platform of Microsoft. But nothing is official yet. This time we can hope, being a strong cloud partner Azure will able to serve a secured service to the Indian gamers.

Motorola “Nio” is in testing with 105Hz display and Snapdragon 865

0

The Motorola XT2125 is codenamed ‘Nio’ a new smartphone that has been spotted recently with a unique refresh rate of 105Hz. This kind of refresh rate is not commonly seen in present-day smartphones. These refresh rates are not common and we know that 90Hz can easily handle 30fps and 60fps videos, whereas, a 120Hz display can view in 24fps easily.

But a 105Hz is quite hard to guess what kind of frames will it display, it might be a hybrid or it can display something higher than the 90Hz but will limit up to a certain point and it can be adaptive. It will fluctuate according to the video quality. So why 105Hz? It might also be that the final production device will be a 90Hz display that will be overclocked for several environments to handle properly. As the Nio is still in development and the testing is done on it so the final product will definitely be a different version from it.

Motorola Nio will have a 6.7” panel with 1080p+ resolution. The phone will come with Android 11 out of the box likely during Q1 of next year. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, as revealed by some tipsters. There might also be a 12/256GB model possible as well, but we’ll know more about that as the launch nears.

Nio might also have a 64MP main camera on the back, based on an OmniVision OV64B sensor. Besides, it will be a 16MP ultrawide angle cam (OV16A10) and a 2MP depth sensor. The front camera will have an 8MP main module (Samsung S5K4H7) and a 16MP ultrawide shooter (OV16A1Q).

There is no solid information about the launch and availability of the phone including its pricing. neither the company has revealed any particular name of the Motorola Nio.
