Three members of Raptors test positive for COVID-19; practice facility to remain open

0

On Monday morning, the Toronto Raptors announced that three members within the organization have tested positive for COVID-19. The Raptors relocated to Tampa Bay, Florida for the upcoming season after the Canadian government decided that the organization could not play in the country because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. They determined that there was no further spread of the disease within the franchise after contact tracing.

The Raptors’ statement read:

“During the league-mandated testing period prior to training camp, three members of the Toronto Raptors organization tested positive for COVID-19. All three are, and will continue to, self-isolate away from the rest of the organization. Adherence to protocols, follow-up testing and contact tracing has so far revealed no spread to other members of the Raptors organization. We continue to follow safety protocols, and will update the situation as appropriate.”

In their statement, the Raptors did not mention the need to close their practice facility as these tests occurred before training camp begun on December 1. Toronto is the third team in the NBA so far to report positive coronavirus results, with the Portland Trail Blazers most recently closing training camp to undergo deep cleaning post three franchise members testing positive.

The Golden State Warriors also had two players test positive for the virus prior to the initiation of training camp, forcing them to delay the start of their practices. As the NBA continues to gear up for the start of the 2020-21 season, the possibility of other teams testing positive for the virus is something that the NBA will have to be prepared for.

The league sent out health and safety protocols last week, that has to be followed by all players, coaches and staff personnel during the season. If these regulations are not followed, serious punishment could be handed down to players and teams that include a decrease in player salary and loss of draft selections.

Italy’s 1982 World Cup hero Paolo Rossi died aged 64

0

Former Italian striker Paolo Rossi passed away last night at the age of 64. The Italian striker will always be remembered for his performance at the 1982 finishing as top scorer and being named best player.

Paolo Rossi has played for some renowned clubs in Italy. He had played for Juventus and AC Milan in his career. In his 338 matches for multiple clubs, he has scored 134 goals.

He had been handed a three-year ban in the fallout from the “Totonero” scandal in 1980. The suspension reduced to two years and he re-established his reputation. In the 1982 World Cup, he became a key factor in Italy’s champion title. Italy beat ‘Tournament favourite’ Brazil by 3-2. Rossi also scored in the semi-final and final.

“That goal, more than any other goal I’ve ever scored, completely defined my characteristics,” Rossi told a FIFA documentary in 2018 about the goal of the final.

“It was mine because I stole that precious tenth of a second from the defender and I knew, he would never reach me.”

After his death yesterday, his wife Federica Cappelletti posted a picture of them together on social media with the caption “Per sempre” (“forever”).

The Italian football federation (FIGC) president Gabriele Gravina said, “Pablito’s passing away is another moment of deep pain, a wound to the heart of all fans that is difficult to heal.”

“We’ve lost a friend and an icon of Italian football.”

“In spurring the national team on to success in 1982, he had Italians celebrating in squares across the country, both for him and with him.”

“He indelibly tied his name to the Azzurri and, through his style of play, inspired numerous strikers of future generations.”- he added.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Black Ops Cold War are currently the most famous games in the world

0

The launch of PlayStation 5 has been a dream come true for the gaming community. The high performing specs brought forth by the device has made it the fan-favorite among gamers. Without a doubt, the most attractive feature of the console is the availability of some of the top-rated and exclusive games of the next-gen console platform.

Recently, Sony announced that Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are the most-downloaded PS5 games at the PlayStation Store for November. We already know that both the games are top-rated in the community, and how much they are famous, we are getting a glimpse of it.

According to sources, Miles Morales was the number one downloaded title for the US/Canada region. Whereas Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was the most popular download in the EU. Coincidently, each game was also a runner-up to the other in the respective region charts.

The sales and popularity of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the PS5 will rocket even further due to the launch of the game’s new update. The updated version 1.007.001 (261.9 MB) brings a new option in the settings under “graphics mode”: “performance RT.” The description of the feature reads, “This is an alternate version of the 60 frames per second ‘Performance’ mode, adding ray-tracing by adjusting the scene resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density.”

The developers give the PS5 users a smooth and memorable experience by sacrificing the number of onlookers and a little bit of their screen resolution. While some might complain about this, but it is still a pretty good update that the game’s developers have come up with.

Razer launches Tomahawk gaming desktop with optional Nvidia GPU support

The COVID pandemic has caused us to undergo strict lockdowns and get adjusted to the life of work from home. But apart from that, we have seen many changes around us, especially in the tech industry. In recent times we have grown more dependent on technology, and high-performing PCs have only grown ever since.

We have seen many devices like ChromeBook’s, Tablets, and Mini-PCs becoming extremely popular among the masses. But recently, even the portable SFF gaming PCs have seen a surge in their demand. The performance of the SFF gaming PCs is similar to full-size gaming PCs. But the advantage of these devices is that they are incredibly portable. Recently, Razer has launched its new Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop, which the company claims are its ultimate SFF gaming rig.

The new SFF gaming rig’s design is similar to Razer’s popular eGPU enclosures, and size is also feasible. According to sources, the machine is designed around Intel’s modular Next Unit of Computing (NUC) architecture. It allows the buyers to upgrade their CPU in the future along with their GPU.

The NUC contains a 45 W Intel Core i9-9980HK Coffee Lake CPU 8-core CPU and Hyperthreading support. The machine comes with 16 GB of DDR 4 RAM and 512 GB NVMe SSD, and Razer has provided a separate 2 TB SSD for the device. The Tomahawk comes with dimensions up to 320 x 140 mm. The device also ships with an Nvidia Founder’s Edition RTX 3080.

The Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop has a 750 W PSU with the connectivity options of 4 USB-A 3.2 ports, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports and comes along with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support. The aluminium chassis has a dimension of 10 L 210 mm x 365 mm x 150 and also includes dual top-mounted fans. The device is shipping with the GPU at the price of US$3,200. But without the GPU, you can get the Razer Tomahawk Gaming PC at US$2,400.

AMD has increased its fan-base during the pandemic

0

When the world started facing the threat of the Coronavirus pandemic, many organizations worldwide realized just how ill-prepared they were in technology. With many solution experts thinking of finding an optimal solution to meet their PC demand, it introduced the world to the new possibilities brought forth by AMD.

According to sources, ImageNet Consulting was facing unprecedented demand for laptops from its health-care, financial, and manufacturing customers. But the Intel-based systems that ImageNet commonly would have recommended were in short supply. Thus, it made the company then endorse AMD-based techniques developed by HP Inc. As everyone might have guessed, ImageNet ended up becoming a fan of AMD’s performance. Sources claim that AMD now accounts for roughly 65 percent of ImageNet’s 2020 system sales than 35 percent of Intel-based systems.

“We were dealing with probably some of the most stressful times regarding product delivery that I’ve been in for years. I’ve never experienced that before. They gave us the ability to increase profitability; they gave us the ability to increase market share. They gave us the ability to increase our reputation with our customers, which is invaluable. And it gave us the ability to continue doing business in a very tumultuous time. And I couldn’t be happier about that.”

ImageNet is only but one of the many companies introduced to a wide range of possibilities by AMD. And AMD didn’t act in favour of these companies. Instead, these firms themselves ended up becoming fans of the manufacturer of CPU and GPUs. We have already seen the performance of AMD’s components against the likes of Intel and Nvidia. The company doesn’t compromise.

“I think we’re growing by leaps and bounds in the channel. Now, if you look historically, our larger relationships have been in the consumer channel, so sort of in the DIY space, across the world in the desktop and graphics cards. And that’s now expanding to the commercial channel, both commercial PCs as well as more commercial server-type opportunities,” says AMD’s CEO Lisa Su.

The company has managed to secure a large market share during the needs of high-performing PCs. But the company has a long road ahead of it. With its acquisition of Xilinx, AMD’s board is gearing up to expand its possibilities in more products and technologies to help its growth.

Though in the listing most of the features are not mentioned, the company mentioned about the display multiple times. Among the quotes, one mentioned that the third-gen ColorFit Pro is coming with a TurView Display. On the other hand, the line “Let’s change the way you look at smartwatches” indicates the display will be the key attraction of this wearable.

There are two images visible on the page, one is with a blue strap and the second one is with black. That means, there will be atleast two strap-color options. Besides, a knob is there on the right of the display.

Still, there is no information about other specifications, launch date, and pricing. But I believe, the company will reveal those very soon. For now, you can set a reminder for the launch, the link is added below.
