It looks like the new Need for Speed game from Criterion Games is coming to a pitstop. EA did announce in early 2020 that the Need for Speed series would be developed again under Criterion after many mediocre entries from Ghost Games.
As per a new Polygon interview, Criterion is helping DICE with the upcoming Battlefield, and the Need for Speed is on hold. Laura Miele, EA’s chief studio officer, insists Criterion was included in the decision…
“There’s no way we would have made a decision like this without including [Criterion] and discussing this with them first, and the impact that they could have on [Battlefield]. They’ve worked on [Star Wars] Battlefront, they’ve worked on Battlefields, and they have a really tight, close collaborative partnership with DICE. I’m really confident that this is going to be a pretty positive win for them.”
Miele also stated that the Need for Speed had not been still cancelled or taken away from Criterion; we’ll see if that comes true. Due to the COVID-19, the development process of Battlefield has gone slow down. The recent purchase of Codemasters from EA indicates that the company will have a steady flow of something new racing content coming.
It seems, right now, there are a lot of things going behind the scenes at EA. Along with Criterion taking care of Battlefield, EA recently has cancelled Anthem NEXT and the long-in-development “Gaia” project of Motive. Expect more consolidation if the finances of the company remain flat. Battlefield 6 is said to arrive at the next fiscal year of EA, which ends March 31, 2022.
Just after the launch of the Realme Narzo 30 series the company has already started teasing the upcoming Realme 8 series, which means within a matter of time we can expect another series from the smartphone brand. The Realme 8 series is going to have the world’s best 108MP camera sensor and also we are expecting a 5G version within the series itself.
Recently Madhav has shared an image of the Realme 8 pictured from the back along with its box and the mascot. The picture is also clicked from the same device using the 108MP camera of Realme 8 Pro to show the power and diversity of the sensor used in it. More interestingly, the box was faced back and it was intentional so that we can see the specs mentioned at the back of the box.
At the backside of the box, we can see that the Realme 8 will have a 6.4 inches FHD+ AMOLED display, a MediaTek Helio G95 SoC, a 64MP(Primary)Quad Rear cameras, and a 5000mAh battery that will support 30W charging.
Recently a few Realme new devices with three model numbers RMX3041, RMX3042 & RMX3043 appears on Tenaa certification. Not much of the specifications have been confirmed yet but these devices seem to be the Realme 8 series. We are not sure about that but it is pretty obvious that with such specification on the list no other device can be matched with it.
We will share more info on that device once we receive any info on it, but as of now, we have the box specification and the live image of the phone. The launch is nearing soon and until then we can expect more leaks to surface and reveal something more about the devices in that series.

The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s largest chipmaker, as part of its efforts to set up a manufacturing facility in the U.S., is planning to build a total of six factories within the country.
These factories will be part of TSMC’s planned facility in Arizona, according to internal rumours sourced by UDN, and the factories will contribute to what is being termed as a ‘Mega Fab’ inside the U.S.
TSMC’s Six Factories Will Produce 12-inch Wafers, With Company Incentivizing Talent To Move To The U.S.
The plant in Arizona will commence mass production in 2024 by the production of semiconductors manufactured on the 5nm process node, according to publicly available details shared by TSMC’s management. What we know right now, according to the data, is that this 5nm node is currently TSMC’s latest process, and it has several variants which tweak the design parameters to offer more power or performance efficiency. A whopping 20,000 wafers/month will be produced with an investment of $12 billion.
On the other hand, if today’s rumours hold true, then the plant’s expenditure and output will see a staggering increase over what TSMC is currently planning. The details of UDN’s report reveal that the six factories will be responsible for manufacturing 12-inch wafers, and total expenditure for construction will equal NT$ 1 trillion (Taiwanese dollar) or $36 billion (USD). Additionally, output for the plant will increase to 100,000 wafers produced per month, five times over the current estimate.
TSMC employees seem to be the source of this rumour as the company encourages them to move to the U.S. to staff the facilities. Should TSMC succeed in building the mega chip factory, the facility will be the largest non-American chipmaking facility in the U.S.

In February, a board of directors meeting of the TSMC was held, the management authorized $12 billion in capital expenditure. Amongst other uses, it was assigned for constructing new plants and installing and upgrading advanced process node technologies. The chipmaker is currently facing a double whammy as Taiwan is going through a water shortage, and TSMC is also catering to a higher demand for automotive chips in the wake of China’s economic recovery from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
It is still uncertain whether the rumoured plans stem from the recently passed CHIPS for America title in the National Defense Authorization Act 2021 (NDAA). According to WCCFTECH, “The act promises up to $3 billion in funds for individual projects aimed towards increasing American capacity to manufacture chips, with higher amounts also being available with greater scrutiny. This additional funding is available if the project is capable of demonstrating that it will not only increase U.S. global chip competitiveness but also improve American national security.”
In Taiwan, TSMC is currently busy building a more advanced 3nm facility, which is expected to become operational next year. A 5nm capacity increase is also rumoured to see the company beefing up output by 70% to 120,000 wafers/month by the end of this year.
As water is a major component of the chipmaking process, TSMC’s plans to build the Arizona fab will be aided by $205 million in city funds, which will be aimed mostly towards ensuring that the facility will have access to adequate water for its production.
According to research firm TrendForce, the $12 billion capital expenditure for the fab will be spread over 12 years. The research firm also believes that the Taiwanese company will post a 25% year-over-year sales increase for the first quarter of this year, with total sales standing at $13 billion for the quarter.
This will enable TSMC to secure a 56% market share in the pure-play foundry business, and it is at the high end of its revenue estimate of $12.7 – $13 billion for the quarter. TrendForce believes the 5nm node will account for 20% of this revenue, and the older 7nm node will lead through a 30% share.

It was only recently that Xiaomi has launched the RedmiBook Pro 14, but e-commerce giants such as AliExpress and Banggood, have already started taking orders for the new notebook.
According to sources, the retailers are selling the laptop at far higher prices than Xiaomi is in China. AliExpress is more price-competitive than Banggood, although the RedmiBook Pro 14 still costs at least US$999.99 on AliExpress. But for that price, you will only get an Intel Core i5-1135G7 and no dedicated GPU.
For a GPU you will have to pay US$1,129.99 on AliExpress, or US$1,259.99 for a dedicated GPU and a Core i7-1165G7 processor. Seriously the prices way high up in the sky.
When Xiaomi launched the Notebook, it stated that the prices will be around CNY 4,449 (~US$728), or CNY 6,299 (~US$976) for the 15-inch model. So we expected the 14-inch model to have relatively less prices.
Well, the prices are not much good on Banggood either. The RedmiBook Pro 14 starts at US$1,049.99 and rises to US$1,299.99 for the Core i7 and NVIDIA GPU.
The device comes with some good specifications, as it has an aluminium alloy chassis, a 16:10 aspect ratio display, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB PCIe SSD. It also comes with a 2,560 x 1,600 pixels display and supports 100% of the sRGB color space.
According to Xiaomi, it has up to 15 hours of battery life between charges, but it comes with a 56 Wh battery.
Xiaomi does not sell its Mi or Redmi laptops in Europe, the UK, or the US. Hence, third-party retailers like AliExpress and Banggood may be the only viable options for the RedmiBook Pro 14 and, by extension, the RedmiBook Pro 15. But the prices are outrageous.
Remember the iMac computers produced in the late 1990s? NASA’s brand-new Perseverance rover, the most advanced machine that’s ever landed on Mars, uses the same processor that powered those 1990 iMacs. When it comes to rovers, “state of the art” is a subjective term.
Perseverance is running on none other than a PowerPC 750 that’s most famous for powering the original “Bondi blue” iMac from 1998; it consists of a single-core, 233MHz processor with just 6 million transistors. NASA’s Curiosity rover uses the same type of processor. Even affordable smartphones now have more than 1000 times the transistors in these rovers.
Why is such old technology being used in a cutting-edge space exploration mission?
Even with the difficulty of buying computer parts these days, surely somewhere in the $2.7 billion costs of Perseverance, NASA could have found the $500 budget for something like Intel’s Core i9-10900K CPU (with 10 cores and a max clock speed of 5.3GHz). But as a report by New Scientist explains, such an advanced chip is actually not good for the unique operating conditions of Mars.

Earth’s atmosphere provides protection from harmful radiation and charged particles much more than Mars’ atmosphere. A bad burst of radiation can destroy the sensitive electronics of a modern processor — and there is a possibility of more going wrong with the increased complexity of the chip.
Plus, at 138 million miles away, NASA cannot just swap out the processor if things go sideways. Because of those conditions, two computing modules are present in Perseverance: one is a backup just in case something goes wrong. (A third copy of the module is also on board for image analysis.)
The PowerPC 750 chip in Perseverance is not exactly like the one in the old iMacs to increase durability. It’s technically a RAD750 chip, a special variant that’s hardened against radiation, costing upwards of $200,000. The chip is popular for spacecraft, too: in addition to Perseverance and Curiosity, it also powers the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, the Kepler telescope, the Fermi Space Telescope, and the Deep Impact comet-hunting spacecraft, among others.
Compared to a modern smartphone or gaming PC, the processor may be weak. NASA’s spec sheet for Perseverance notes that it’s far more powerful than earlier rovers like Opportunity or Spirit. According to The Verge, “its 200MHz clock speed is 10 times faster than those older rovers, and with 2GB of flash memory, it offers eight times the storage. (Rounding things out, Perseverance also has 256MB of RAM in case you were looking to build your own rover.)”
Perseverance features some new computer technology: Linux is debuting on Mars, it powers the Ingenuity helicopter, and will attempt to fly autonomously on Mars as part of Perseverance’s mission.
The recommendation will be considered by the Rugby World Cup Board and World Rugby Executive Committee on 8 and 9 March respectively
CAPE TOWN, South Africa, March 3, 2021/ — World Rugby has made the difficult decision to recommend the postponement of Rugby World Cup 2021, scheduled to be hosted in New Zealand between 18 September-16 October, until next year. The recommendation will be considered by the Rugby World Cup Board and World Rugby Executive Committee on 8 and 9 March respectively.
While appreciating the recommendation is extremely disappointing for teams and fans, it has their interests at heart, and gives the tournament the best opportunity to be all it can be for them, all New Zealanders and the global rugby family.
The recommendation is based on the evolution of the uncertain and challenging global COVID-19 landscape. It has become clear in recent discussions with key partners including New Zealand Rugby, the New Zealand Government and participating unions, that, given the scale of the event and the COVID-19-related uncertainties, it is just not possible to deliver the environment for all teams to be the best that they can be on the sport’s greatest stage.
The challenges include uncertainty and the ability for teams to prepare adequately for a Rugby World Cup tournament both before and on arrival in New Zealand, and challenging global travel restrictions.
World Rugby can assure teams, New Zealanders and the global rugby family that the recommendation to postpone the tournament will help to ensure that Rugby World Cup 2021 will be all it can be next year for players, fans and the rugby family – one of the great Rugby World Cups.
Further updates will be issued following the Rugby World Cup Board and World Rugby Executive Committee meetings next week.
