Panasonic announces JZ2000, their flagship OLED TV model for 2021

0

Panasonic launched their flagship OLED TV for 2021, the JZ2000 at CES 2021. The model will be available in two sizes: 65-inch and 55-inch variables.

The model will feature a brand new processor, known as the HCX Pro AI, which automatically detects the type of content being displayed. This helps the TV to adjust the quality of the picture to deliver the best possible performance to the viewer. The new processor also analyses and adjusts the sound quality accordingly.

The JZ2000 is being aimed at the Gamers, with low latency being one of it’s most key features. This is mostly thanks to the new HCX Pro AI processor that comes with the brand new model. The latency for the JZ2000 is assumed to be the lowest in OLED TVs yet and is a significant part of the model’s “Game Mode Extreme”, which features:

  • Low latency
  • Support for HDMI 2.1 variable refresh rate (VRR) and high frame rate (HFR)
  • A dedicated picture mode for gaming (“game mode”)
  • Support for HDMI Signal Power Link, which will improve the experience and ease of using Panasonic TVs with CEC non-supported devices like old Set Top Boxes or PCs

One of the most noticeable changes in the JZ2000 is the addition of side-firing speakers in addition to Panasonic’s unique top-firing speakers to truly deliver a Dolby Atmos-like sound quality to the viewer which, in turn, makes for a much richer viewing experience. Panasonic have branded this speaker combo as the 360° Soundscape Pro.

In addition to the AI features altering the picture settings based on the ambient light, the product appears to be extremely promising on paper.

The JZ2000 is expected to be among the brightest in the market for OLED TVs, with Panasonic’s proprietary Master HDR OLED Professional Edition panel providing a much higher, as well as dynamic color range.

HP has launched a series of products at CES 2021, which is being held virtually due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. One of them is their Elite Folio. It is a new ACPC (Always Connected PC) alongside is notebooks and other peripherals.

The Elite Folio aims to combine the processing power of a laptop with the portability of a tablet. It will also come with the HP Elite Slim Active Pen out of the box, with integrated charging and storage cradle for quicker access. HP has said that it will disclose its price at a later date. It will be available for purchase in February 2021.

The world’s first pull-forward business convertible is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx SoC with a maximum clock speed of 3.1 GHz. Thanks to its integrated X55 modem, 5G functionality is possible. CES 2021: Microsoft refreshed it’s Surface Pro 7 to Plus

0

Microsoft has decided to update its Surface Pro lineup for the CES 2021 event. The new and refreshed model is Surface Pro 7 Plus. The design of the device is the same as its previous existing version, but the internal power of the device has been enhanced.

The company is bringing Intel’s latest 11th Gen processors, a bigger battery, removable SSD, and LTE connectivity to the new and refreshed device. For connectivity, the windows maker is bringing LTE to the Surface Pro lineup for the first time since 2015, but unfortunately, Microsoft is not bringing 5G technology to its Surface Pro 7 Plus.

The Specifications include:

  1. The device will start with the Intel Core i3-1115G4 model and the highest processor will be the Intel Core i7 (1165G7).
  2. The Intel Core i5 (1135G7) model will have an optional LTE starting at $1,149.
  3. The base Core i3 model ships with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for $899.
  4. The top model will come with a Core i7 option ($2,799) and it can be configured up to 32GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage.

One issue with business laptops has been that they always had been on the lower battery side. But Microsoft is now promising up to 15 hours of battery life on the Surface Pro 7 Plus. The device comes with 10.5 hours of battery life.

“We changed the inside quite substantially, It required us to flip the internals for us to put the SSD here, so when we did that we also updated the TDM (Thermal Design Model) to create more space for a larger battery size.”

“When you look at the Surface Pro X, which has the thinner bezels, there are pretty substantial changes in terms of port locations which is driven by those bezels. Thinning the bezels does require a significant change in terms of form factor and compatibility with previous [models].”

The device ships with 12.3-inch PixelSense Display with a 2736 x 1824) resolution. It comes with a single USB-C port, a USB-A port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Surface Connect port. The device still doesn’t have Thunderbolt connectivity.

Microsoft is planning to start shipping the Surface Pro 7 Plus to customers on January 15th in the US, and it will also be available in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and a large number of European countries.

Overall the refreshed Surface Pro 7 Plus is a good addition to the Surface Series but a decent entry in business laptops.

The highly anticipated CES 2021 is underway and the brands have already started unveiling their latest products and innovations. TCL CSOT, which is a subsidiary of TCL Technology and is dedicated to driving greater innovations in semiconductor display, have also announced their products at CES 2021.

TCL CSOT has announced the launch of two ground-breaking products at CES 2021:

  2. 6.7-inch AMOLED Rollable Display

Let’s take a look at the two flexible displays in detail:

Printed OLED Scrolling Display

17-inch Printed OLED Scrolling Display

The flexible 17-inch Printed OLED Scrolling Display, at just 0.18mm thick, is a unique example of a larger-scale flexible display technology. Highly scrollable and portable, it can easily fit in anywhere, just like a scroll painting.

Benefiting from TCL CSOT’s cutting-edge inkjet printing technology, with a 100% colour gamut, it significantly enhances the quality of the display. It can be widely applied across flexible TVs, curved and foldable displays, and transparent commercial displays.

Its OLED RGB self-luminous devices are manufactured with high-precision inkjet printing technology, without the need for fine metal masks. As a result, the cost is 20% lower than traditional display technologies and is more applicable for large-size displays and mass production.

AMOLED Rollable Display

6.7-inch AMOLED Rollable Display

The portable 6.7-inch AMOLED Rollable Display re-defines the standard form of a smartphone. With a rollable AMOLED display, it can be extended from 6.7-inches to 7.8-inches with a simple tap of the finger, turning it from a smartphone into a tablet and creating an entirely new user experience with its easily adaptable user interface. The smartphone is less than 10mm thick, making it significantly thinner than the foldable smartphone.

Through the enhanced design of the smartphone’s flexible screen, the curling and sliding radius of the flexible screen can be as small as R3mm, combined with the special sliding mechanism design. With the simple swipe of a button, the screen originally curled and hidden inside the case can be pulled out, therefore enabling the phone to stretch out and drawback. The sliding life of the device is up to 100,000 times. The software interface can be adapted accordingly for single-hand use or multi-tasking.

TCL CSOT is further making progress to come up with even greater things in the future. They aim to make joint efforts towards building a semiconductor display industrial ecosystem.
