FIFA President Gianni Infantino has addressed the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group on the last day of its videoconference summit

ZURICH, Switzerland, April 1, 2021/ — FIFA President shares experience with members of G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group; 11 key reforms to combat corruption in football; FIFA offered as a global partner to help governments to fight corruption.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has addressed the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group on the last day of its videoconference summit.

Invited to speak on the fight against corruption in sport, President Infantino shared the lessons that the new FIFA has learned through its post-2016 reforms, as well as from the corruption scandal that brought down the previous administration.

Laying out the path taken by world football’s governing body in the first five years of his presidency, the FIFA President listed 11 key reforms designed “to tackle corruption, to bring back accountability in FIFA, in football more generally, and to safeguard the integrity of football and, of course, FIFA.”

In particular, those reforms were:

  • a fully transparent bidding process for the FIFA World Cup;
  • the separation of political and executive powers;
  • terms limits and eligibility checks for elected officials;
  • transparency of finances and compensation;
  • a transparent and centrally supervised transfer system;
  • audited football development investment with accountability, which includes a five-time increase in such investment (USD1.8bn) when compared to the past;
  • internal and external compliance overseen by an independent Audit and Compliance Committee;
  • judicial bodies guided by a new FIFA Code of Ethics;
  • strict tender processes for transparent procurement;
  • the promotion of women to decision-making positions in football administration; and
  • the formalised protection of human rights, and the protection of minors and children in sport, as it is important that our children are in a safe environment.

President Infantino expressed FIFA’s desire to establish partnerships with the members of the G20 and pointed to the power of football to help combat corruption: “It’s crucial that the G20 takes an interest in these matters and gives a clear policy direction because football is much more than just a sport. Sport in general is so important for our society, economically and socially, but also in terms of education. We are here to offer our collaboration, we are here to offer our part as a player of a global team to fight corruption.”

Toni Kroos thinks the decision to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar was not good

0

Qatar was awarded the opportunity to host the 2022 World Cup by FIFA in 2010, beating competition from bids from the USA, South Korea, Japan, and Australia in the voting process.

It was a surprise for everyone as Qatar had virtually no previous history in the sport. Their lack of football heritage has seen them build eight new stadiums in time for 2022, while the finals themselves were moved to the winter to combat the extreme summer heat.

To complete this whole work in time Qatar government put in a huge number of migrant workers. However, Qatar never had the highest reputation for its values of human rights and treatment of migrant workers.

As per some reports, more than 6,500 migrant workers have died in the country, with the hot climate and working and living conditions being pointed at as possible explanations.

Now, Germany midfielder Toni Kroos described the working conditions in Qatar as unacceptable and thinks it was a mistake to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Kroos said on his brother Felix’s podcast, via Marca: “Immigrant workers are subjected to days without rest under torrid 50 degree heat. They suffer from insufficient nutrition, without drinking water and [working] in crazy temperatures,” .

For Kroos, the decision to host the World Cup in Qatar “was not good,” and the Real Madrid star mentioned that homosexuality is criminally prosecuted in the country and that “certain violence” is practised on workers.

“All of these points are absolutely unacceptable,” he said, although he wouldn’t boycott the World Cup.

“Would that serve to improve working conditions? I think not,” he argued.

“Football always arouses extreme attention, be it before the tournament or during it,” the player said.

The Germany team wore shirts to raise questions on Qatar’s record on human rights during their recent qualifying matches against Iceland and Romania.

Asus ZenBook 13 OLED

Specifications

Asus ZenBook 13 OLED

Instead of the more popular aspect ratio, 16:10 (or 3:2 in some cases), that most new laptops being introduced at CES have, the ZenBook 13 OLED uses the old-school 16:9 aspect ratio. Ravi Bishnoi of Punjab Kings Confident of Taking Home the IPL 2021 Trophy

Shares his journey of working as a labourer to build a cricket academy to getting selected in IPL

New Delhi, 1st April 2021: From the earlier hardships of working as a labourer to making a mark in IPL2020, this Indian cricketer, Ravi Bishnoi has been an inspiration for many upcoming cricketers. Beast Studios sports channel ‘Sports Yaari’ brings forth the first edition of the special series YAARANA, with Bishnoi’s exceptional tale. Punjab Kings leg spinner and the rising star of the IPL, Ravi Bishnoi shares his arduous journey from Jodhpur to India U19 and IPL.

The 20yr old hails from Jodhpur, with no background in cricket. Without any financial support and facilities for training, he along with his coaches Pradyot Singh Rathore and Shahrukh Pathan, started a cricket academy named Spartans Cricket Academy to support his dream. They worked as labourers to build this cricket academy, the whole academy and pitches were prepared by Ravi, his coaches Pradyot Singh Rathore, Shahrukh Pathan and a few other kids. After choosing the Rajasthan Royals trials over his 12th class board exams, he was rejected but chose to stay optimistic and continued to appear for trials.

Reminiscing his struggle days, Bishnoi said,” Rejection is an inevitable part of growth. But once you get an opportunity, you must give your best shot. We started with a limited amount of money, when we ran out of funds we took it upon ourselves to prepare the pitches and practice facilities. After being rejected several times, I did not give up. When I broke the partnership against Hyderabad and took 2 wickets in an over, the team appreciated my efforts. As a captain, KL Rahul guides me and supports me. ”

Bishnoi appreciated the inputs of Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid which helped him prepare for IPL with more confidence. He also revealed that the competition during practice sessions boosts his confidence even more as he believes that if he can stop players like Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, or KL Rahul during practice, then he can attempt to stop any other player too.

Talking about IPL2021 he further added,” With David Malan, Jhye Richardson and Shahrukh Khan, the team balance has improved. Just like last year, I want to prove my mettle and make my team win. This time around luck will be on our side and we will surely win the trophy.”

Ravi Bishnoi finished as the leading wicket-taker in the 2020 U19 World Cup and then backed his performances in IPL. With the T20 World Cup ahead, a stellar season with Punjab Kings could handle Ravi a spot in the Indian Team. The youngster is one of the most potent leg spinners in the country in the shortest format.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti confirmed for Notebooks

Nvidia released its much anticipated RTX 30 series earlier this year, and so far, the green team has announced its RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080 to have laptop variants. We also know from various rumours and leaks that Nvidia also plans to release RTX 3050 series GPUs. And from sources, we have found that the RTX 3050 Ti will also be joining the RTX 3050, and both will have TGPs ranging from 35 W to 80 W.

According to sources, the RTX 3050 can say to be a low-powered version of the RTX 3060 and the benchmark results point that the RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti is capable successors to the GTX 16 series. According to 3DMark Time Spy Graphics and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, RTX 3050 offers significantly better performance than the GTX 1650 and GTX 1650 Ti. The RTX 3050 may even have the edge over the GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q in games.

Coming to the RTX 3050 Ti, the card crosses the GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q in 3DMark, however, its score is no match for the GTX 1660 Ti. The RTX 3050 Ti outperforms the RTX 2060 by a wide margin in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at Medium settings in 1080p, which has an 80-90 W TGP. The RTX 3050 Ti matches the RTX 2060 Max-Q at Ultra settings, too.

Manchester City did not offer Aguero a new contract

0

Now that the news is official, Sergio Aguero is set to leave Manchester City after a decade with the Sky Blues, emerging as the best striker in the history of the club, and one of the best in the Premier League itself.

As mentioned by Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast, Aguero waited to understand the position of the club but he didn’t receive any proposal from City. The decision was from them to let go of Aguero, and the Argentinian is now set to depart at the end of the campaign.

Sergio Aguero opens up about Lionel Messi, Argentina, Champions League, Manchester City & more

This season has seen him out of the squad, plagued with injuries first and then having contracted the coronavirus. The emergence of Kevin De Bruyne as a flourishing false 9 has also been a factor in him being pushed to the bench in the wake of his physical return.

Despite the rumours of Juventus moving to sign another free agent at the end of the season in the Argentinian, they have not moved to sign him. One of the options for the player’s next destination is Barcelona since his best friend and Argentina teammate, Lionel Messi is at the club and could surely convince him to come to Camp Nou.

FC Barcelona want Aguero in a free transfer

As mentioned by Romano, it is a serious option given the Haaland situation. Koeman still wants Depay so that variable will also matter if and when they move to discuss terms with Aguero. PSG have asked to understand his salary demands, as per the Italian journalist while Juventus will go for a younger player and so will Chelsea.
