Does Manchester United still have a chance to win the Premier League title this season?

Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspurs last night. The Red Devils made a sensational comeback in the second half from 1-0 down to 1-3 up.

The Red Devils were much more dominating in the whole match. At the 35th minute, Edinson Cavani put one behind the net. But the goal was cancelled after a controversial foul on Heung-Min Son. Later Spurs took the lead.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men came back stronger in the second half and win the game 3-1. Fred, Cavani and Mason Greenwood scored one each for the Red Devils.

With this win, Manchester United is now 7 points clear at the second position. However, they are 11 points behind the leader’s Manchester City. Manchester City also dropped points this week. Pep Guardiola’s men lost to Leeds United on Saturday by 2-1.

With 7 games in hand, it looks almost impossible for Red Devils to snatch the title over their rivals. They can only hope for a miracle.

Earlier Ole Gunnar Solskjaerd told, “I have always said, let’s get to at least March and April before we talk about a title race. You don’t talk about title races after 18-19 games.”

“We have given ourselves a very good chance of improving on last season by the position we’re in. I’d rather be in the position we’re in now, compared to the situation we were in last season. But of course, in the Premier League, there are lots of quality teams.”

“What we can control is ourselves and if we do our jobs and get as many points as I think we can do, I’m sure we’ll be up there.”

It will be interesting to see if United can do the impossible or not?

Manchester City closing in on Kayky from Fluminense

After months of rumours surrounding Manchester City being interested in Fluminense winger Kayky, the Sky Blues are apparently going through with their plans to land the transfer target as soon as possible, according to Fabrizio Romano through his Twitter account.

According to the renowned Italian journalist, Manchester City are offering Fluminense €10 million up front with €7 million in addons that could push up the price of the total deal to €17 million or even higher. The contract proposed by Manchester City runs for five years.

Considering the work permit laws in England now that the country has broken away from the European Union, the player will have to wait till he’s 18 to enter England and play for City. Hence, the signing will have to wait till 2022, but the agreement could be in place this summer itself, much like Manchester United did with Amad Diallo from Atalanta.

“Kayky is a player who stands out a lot for his technical quality, especially with regard to one-on-ones, and also in his quality in front of goal,” Fluminense’s U17 coach, Guilherme Torres, tells Goal.

“He is also very intelligent, searches for empty spaces on the field and has a good ability to provide assists for his team-mates.

“In addition, he has a winning, competitive mentality, which is important for a high-level player. His resilience has grown as he has matured, and he is learning how to deal with adversity.”

The 17-year-old operates primarily as a right winger and came through the Fluminense academy and is now starting to feature for their first team. The player is left footed and is being hailed as the next Neymar due to him being a Brazilian.

Kayky featured for Fluminense U17 last season and finished the top scorer in the youth Brasileirao as well, with 12 goals scored throughout the season.

Andrea Orlandi shares his experience of playing alongside Lionel Messi at Barcelona

0

Former Barcelona winger, Andrea Orlandi has shared his experience of playing alongside Lionel Messi in the club’s reserve team. Orlandi spent the majority of his time at the Camp Nou playing with the reserves and soon moved on to England. Despite not making it to the first team with Messi, Orlandi has some memories of training with Messi.

Orlandi revealed that the Barcelona captain was very “shy” off the pitch, but was a “monster” on it. Orlandi shared his experiences with Goal.

Former Blaugrana attacker Andrea Orlandi: “Messi was a very shy person, and Ronaldinho looked after him. I remember he would prepare a coffee for Ronny and not say a word but, on the pitch, he would transform into a monster.”

“It was not pleasant training with him; you couldn’t get the ball off him or get near him. I have never seen someone as competitive as he was at 17 or 18 at the time.”

“He would bite your ankles if he lost the ball; he couldn’t cope with it. You could see he was going to be something big but I never expected him to become the best player in football history.”

Orlandi further said: “At the time, the reference point was Ronaldinho and he was the best thing I have ever seen in terms of pure quality. Messi was different to him. It wasn’t showboating but he would show you the ball and it wasn’t there anymore.”

“It was the small movements; he is so clever at getting out of pressure. You couldn’t show him onto his weaker foot because he was good on both sides. You couldn’t kick him because you can’t get near him.”

“What really impressed me was how he got the ball in tight areas, running at six players, but knew he would get out of that situation. Most players didn’t even think of doing it.”

Orlandi concluded: “My strongest memory was a training session where he came back from injury. [Coach Frank] Rijkaard organised a training game which mixed B players with first-team players. I was with Samuel Eto’o in my team and against Messi.”

“He got the ball in midfield and ran past one, two, three, four and five. He went around the goalkeeper and scored. It looked so easy and he just got back from injury.”

“Don’t forget, he was training with Deco, Xavi and Eto’o and he wasn’t shy on the pitch even if he was a shy person off it. He was so confident on the pitch that it was scary.”

What a Gambling and Betting App Knows About You

0

As technology in gambling continues to develop, we have seen the introduction of some fantastic features. Mobile betting, in-play sports betting, live casino games, build your own bet, and live streaming are just some of the major additions to the online gambling world in recent years. However, when you register and begin betting at a gambling app, you are passing on some of your personal details to the company. With that in mind, exactly what does a gambling and betting app know about you?

Thanks to the change in legislation, there are now lots of legal us sportsbooks apps, including DraftKings, BetMGM Sport, BetRivers Sportsbook, PointsBet, William Hill, 888 Sport, FanDuel, and Bet365. Some of these are the biggest and most popular online gambling brands in the world but when you install and use their application, what do they learn about you?

If you are interested or concerned about your online privacy, you may like to know about the type of information gambling apps track. It is worth remembering, an online gambling app is a business and they are trying to make money. Therefore, if you are an infrequent gambler, who occasionally has a bet on a popular event, such as the Super Bowl but little else during the year, you are unlikely to be of any interest to the gambling company. However, if you gamble online regularly and lose a lot of money to the sportsbook or casino, you are going to be of interest to them for obvious reasons. They make money from your betting activity. So, if a gambling app is going to push betting offers, it is most likely they are going to use the information to ensure the offer comes before the eyes of the regular gambler who is losing money, then the occasional gambler.

It is worth remembering that a lot of the information that is tracked and recorded from you by an online gambling company is simply for legal reasons. In the United States for example, it is still illegal to bet online in several states and by using the data gathered by the gambling app, it is possible to block those who are trying to access the gambling website illegally. Other factors considered when using personal data include the age of the user and if they are developing a gambling problem. It is not always easy to identify the latter but responsible gambling companies will reach out to those they believe are developing a problem. The only way they can know this is by compiling information about the account holder and their betting habits.

Some of the other advantages to players of gambling apps monitoring your activity is they can tailor special offers. For example, a gambling app will know if you regularly bet on Major League Baseball and you are more likely to receive a special offer on baseball markets than soccer markets.

When joining any online gambling app, you should read the privacy policy if you are in any doubt about how your data is being used.

Eloelo crosses 50 Million Gameplays on its Creator-driven Live Social Gaming App

0

Bengaluru-based Creator-led Social Gaming & Live Streaming startup Eloelo has recorded 50 Million In-App Gameplays in just over 6 months since launch. The App, aiming to solve for Creator Monetization, has been seeing 100% Month-on-Month growth & was recently in the Top Trending Apps on Google Playstore.

The Product which is being used by over 5 Lakh Users along with 10,000 Creators across 4 Languages enables Creators to Go Live and Host interesting Games like Bollywood Quizzes, Musical Chairs, Tambola or just Live Stream with Audiences. There are also 100s of Challenges on the App where a Creator uploads an Entry & a User can Swipe to Vote on whether this Entry will win the challenge. A user can earn coins with daily activities & gift these to their favourite Creators.

It is a unique concept that has gained a lot of traction with 85% of Users coming from Non-Metros & nearly 55% of those users being Females. An average user is spending over 25 Mins on the App daily with Power users spending nearly 50 Mins daily- that’s almost 5 hours/week.

Interestingly, Eloelo started off as Creator-driven Content to Commerce with a layer of Gamification but quickly started seeing immense traction on the Gamification side & was adding a lot of value to Creators of Bharat. Come December, the platform decided to go deeper into the Creator-led Live Social Gaming space & since then the Game really changed (pun intended).

Unique Idea

Saurabh, Co-Founder & CEO of Eloelo, says “There are over 50 Million Creators globally of which 5 Million are in India but there are not enough Creator Monetization avenues currently. Despite having the power to attract & move audiences, Creators are never paid their due – and this problem gets amplified for the Creator Middle class who ultimately end up dropping off from their journey. We want to solve this by enabling Creators to engage with their Audiences over Live Social Games & unlock monetization opportunities”

With 600 Million Indians either consuming content or playing games online, combining Live Social Gaming with the Creator Economy is a potential $12 Bn Market that Eloelo is going after. While we have seen platforms in the pure entertainment space or Influencer commerce space, the Creator-led Live Social gaming space is very new & interesting. Add to that the predominantly Female audience base that Eloelo has acquired & it becomes a very differentiated product versus anything currently in the market.

Saurabh fondly recalls a Creator’s whatsapp message which said, “You guys are doing so well for us creators.. honestly I love trying out new stuff and this was such a good experience for me! Hosting a fun Game with all the tools in the App & interacting LIVE with Audience felt so good”.

Plans Ahead

The startup which had raised a $400K round in August’20 from Waterbridge Ventures, Sequoia Scout & marquee Angel investors like Ramakant Sharma, Rishi Vasudev, etc aims to bring classic offline activities like playing Musical chairs, Tambola, Quiz contests, Talent Shows, etc online in an Anchor-driven 1:Many format.
Akshay, Co-founder of Eloelo, says “We were always looking at the Creator Monetization problem with a different lens. Instead of copy-pasting solutions on Subscription for exclusive content which work Globally but not in India, we decided to blend a unique offline insight of Creator-hosted Games by bringing it Online & enabling the creator to monetize from Audiences using our in-app currency”.

While currently, the App has an “Earned currency” in the form of Elo-coins which users earn by referring their Friends & logging in daily, it will soon be introducing a bought currency for Users to gift creators & participate in Live Games. The pace at which Eloelo is growing per month, Saurabh believes they will own the “LIVE” space for Bharat & soon cross 5 Million users across Languages with 1 Lakh creators earning on the platform by end of 2021

Xavi Simmons to be offered a new contract by PSG

0

In the wake of Xavi Simons making his Ligue 1 debut for PSG in their 4-1 victory against Strasbourg, rumours linking the player with a contract extension have found their way around the internet again. Simons moved to Paris from Barcelona, in a similar vein to Neymar who also made the same switch.

The talented youngster is seen as the future of the Paris midfield by the authorities at the club. Given that his current contract expires in 2022, the club will be hoping to strike a deal soon to prevent other clubs across the continent from signing him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the club is working on proposing a new contract in the weeks to come. The player’s stance on a future at the club is still unclear, but it is expected that Mino Raiola will be trying to be the agent for the player since he was close with Simons during his time at Barcelona.

Simons was born in 2003, and has featured for the Netherlands U17 team a handful of times and has also scored for them. PSG fans keen on the player staying will be hopeful of him getting more minutes till the end of the season.

To his advantage, Mauricio Pochettino has a history or trusting young talent and getting great results out of them. His work at Tottenham is testament to this and we could be looking at another exciting young talent being brought through by the Argentinian.

What you can do with Samsung Smart Monitor?

The company already hinted about the capabilities with the phrase “Do-It-All Screen”. To know all the specs of the Samsung Smart monitors you can refer to my previous post (Click here to jump).

The most interesting thing you can do with these Smart Monitors is work as a PC just by adding external Bluetooth keyboards and mice. Thanks to the Samsung DeX that allows using smartphone’s processor to process the PC jobs. You need not to buy a CPU separately in general. Access to the monitor from remote locations is also possible for the Remote Access features.

If you are a fan of Netflix or Prime Video shows, or some other platforms, the Smart Hub in the monitor will be a blessing to you. It actually gives you access to all these entertainment platforms.

Lastly, for the gamers, there is the Ultrawide Game View with a 21:9 aspect ratio. So, you can track a wider area of the virtual battlefield.

These three are the most highlighted things you can do with the Samsung Smart Monitor. Other than that, normal usage like all other normal monitors is obviously available. Various required ports are added to the back of the screen for this reason.

US Administration Officials to listen to Companies Competing for Scarce Chips

0

Top administration officials of the current U.S. Government will hear from companies competing and struggling for a sharply limited global supply of semiconductors, on Monday, as the White House tries to figure out how to get a hold of this shortage that’s idled automakers worldwide.

The leaders of General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co., and Alphabet Inc.’s Google, are expected to participate in the meeting that will include more than a dozen chief executives. The meeting isn’t expected to result in substantive outcomes or a path forward on the shortage, it is likely to revolve around the company’s grievances, Bloomberg’s sources have said.

Previously, White House officials have stated that there is no short-term fix for the shortage, but the meeting will help give a sign that President Joe Biden’s administration is serious about the supply chain issues and softening the blow for affected companies and employees.

Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary, called the meeting part of the administration’s “consulting process” on the shortage, and said it would inform an ongoing review of the semiconductor supply chain.

“This is something that there is a great deal of focus on at the highest level across government,” she said Thursday, according to Bloomberg.

Hosts of the meeting will be Brian Deese, National Economic Council director, and Jake Sullivan, National Security Adviser, with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo also participating. The companies list invited to join the administration officials according to Bloomberg, is as follows, “Dell Technologies Inc., Intel Corp., Medtronic Plc, Northrop Grumman Corp., HP Inc., Cummins Inc., Micron Technology Inc., Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., AT&T Inc., and Samsung Electronics Co., as well as GM, Ford and Alphabet Inc.”

According to President Biden’s schedule, he will “briefly join” the virtual summit.

The meeting’s agenda would be to highlight elements of the president’s proposed $2.25 trillion infrastructure plan that the administration officials believe would improve supply chain resilience, a White House official said. The agenda is also set to include discussions about the auto industry’s transition to clean energy, creation of more job opportunities and ensuring U.S. economic competitiveness, the official added.

The President of the USA has asked Congress to pass legislation to finance R&D for semiconductors, a proposal with bipartisan support. A source of debate among automakers and other industries is how exactly the money will be spent and allocated.

Carmakers are warning of a potential 1.3 million shortfall in the car and light-duty truck production in the U.S this year while pushing for a portion of the money to be reserved for vehicle-grade chips.

Yet makers of computers and mobile phones among other chip-related industries, have taken issue with the carmakers’ demands, worried their industries will suffer. The debate could take place in the White House meeting.

Though the White House has not clearly stated a public position on the issue but has privately indicated that it would not support special treatment for any specific industry.

Expressing optimism was Matt Blunt, president of the American Automotive Policy Council, which lobbies for Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis NV (formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) stating that even though the White House has not endorsed any specific plans for setting aside money for carmakers, the administration officials “understand why the proposal was made.”

“We hope in the meeting, whoever is gathered there will get an understanding of how we get to where we are fulfilling 100% of orders and provide a road map of what that looks like,” he said.

According to Bloomberg, Blunt’s group has come up with a proposal that “at least 25% of any federal support for the construction of semiconductor factories must go to U.S. facilities that commit to allocating at least 25% of their capacity to automotive-grade chips.”

John Neuffer, president and chief executive officer of the Semiconductor Industry Association, said the industry understands “the difficulty the auto sector is feeling right now, and chipmakers are working hard to ramp up production to meet demand in the short term.”

For the long term, he said, the industry needs a boost in domestic production and innovation across the board “so all sectors of our economy have access to the chips they need, and that requires swiftly enacting federal investments in semiconductor manufacturing and research.”
