70405115 Lasith Malinga ended his odi career on a high, helped Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 91 runs

Lasith Malinga retired from one-day internationals after Sri Lanka registered a 91-run win over Bangladesh in Colombo.

Malinga returned with impressive figures of 3/38 in his final ODI to help Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh.

For Sri Lanka, Malinga and Pradeep bagged three wickets each

Mendis (43) and Angelo Mathews (48) played a crucial knock in posting a target of 315 at the end of 50 overs.

Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 91 runs in the first at PR Stadium on Friday.

Sri Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne won the toss and elected to bat first.

Chasing a target of 315, Bangladesh suffered the first blow in the fifth bowl of the inning as skipper Tamim Iqbal was dismissed by Lasith Malinga.

Malinga in his last international game struck in the first over and bowled Iqbal for a duck. Mohammad Mithun joined Soumya Sarkar in the middle and built a 29-run partnership for the second wicket. Mithun (10) was sent to pavilion by Malinga in the eighth over.

Mushfiqur Rahim came in to bat at number three and joined Sarkar in the middle. Sarkar departed after scoring 15 runs in the 9th over.

Sabbir Rahman with Rahim built a 111-runs partnership and helped the team to get past the 150-run mark.

Lower-order failed to add runs on the scoreboard and the side lost wickets in regular intervals. Rahim held the one end strong and scored 67 runs before he was departed by Nuwan Pradeep. For Sri Lanka, Malinga and Pradeep bagged three wickets each.

Since his 2004 debut against the United Arab Emirates, Malinga has played 225 ODIs and his unusual slingy action and an ability to bowl yorkers have made him a formidable bowler in limited-overs cricket. The right-arm paceman, a sought-after player in Twenty20 leagues, has also played 30 tests though he quit the long format in 2011 after battling a nagging knee injury.

Arsenal have signed Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan

Arsenal have officially announced the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos for around £15million on a season-long loan.

Dani Ceballos has joined Arsenal to increase his game time. The 22-years-old found himself marginalized under Zinedine Zidane and he wanted regular football ahead of the European Championship next summer. So he will be on loan for one season. And then return to Real Madrid in the following season as Arsenal do not have a fixed option to purchase the player.

Tottenham were also interested in Ceballos. But he was reportedly persuaded to join Arsenal to play under Unai Emery. He will wear the number eight shirt at Emirates Stadium which was recently vacated by Aaron Ramsey, who joined Juventus.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery said: “We’re excited to see Dani join us. He is a talented player with big technical ability, creativity and precision.”

Dani Ceballos

Ceballos said he was ‘proud’ to be joining the Gunners and claimed it was a ‘step forward’ in his career. He said following the announcement of his signing: “I’m really proud to be able to wear this shirt. I’m joining a historic Premier League side and it’s a step forward in my career. I’ve not spoken to my team-mates yet so we’re not sure of what the objective is, but obviously, I’m coming here to give everything I have.
Nobody will be able to question that because from the very first day I pull this jersey on I’ll give everything I’ve got. We’ll try to achieve the club’s objectives.”

The 22-years-old joined Real Madrid from Real Betis in 2017. He shone in the European Under-21 Championship following an impressive 2016-17 season in LaLiga.

Dani Ceballos

However, Ceballos struggled to establish himself under Zidane, making 22 appearances in all competitions in 2017-18 before featuring 34 times last term. Only three of those appearances came after Zidane had been reappointed as Los Blancos boss in March. And now Ceballos has been handed an opportunity to test himself in England’s top flight.

Zidane confirmed that he has no problem with Ceballos. Zidane told a news conference: “No, it’s not that I didn’t get on with Ceballos. I think Dani needed to play a lot because he’s an important player. It’s true that at Madrid he has not had enough minutes, it’s just about that. There are a lot of players here, a lot of competition. I wish him to play many games and do well.”

Arsenal also announced the signing of the 18-years-old defender William Saliba for a fee of around £27m. The Frenchman will remain at Saint-Ettiene next season before moving to Arsenal in 2020.

Hima Das: The Golden Girl of India

The 19-years-old Indian sprinter, Hima Das has won 5 gold medals in just 19 days.

Hima Das was born on 9th January 2000. She is nicknamed as the Dhing Express. She is an Indian sprinter from the state of Assam. She holds the current Indian national record in 400 meters with a timing of 50.79s that she clocked at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. She is also the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championships.

Hima Das has set the internet on fire with the golden run that lasted for 19 days – 2nd July 2019 to 20th July 2019. During this period, she did everything right and won five Gold medals in the process. It is a feat which is almost unheard in track and field history of India. And deservingly perhaps, she is the Golden Girl of India.

Hima Das

Hima Das created history by winning her first gold in this season at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland on 2nd July.
Then it was followed by a second gold in 200m at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland.
Hima won her third gold in 200m at the Kladno Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic with a timing of 23.43 seconds.
Her fourth gold came in 200m at the Tabor Athletics Meet on 17th July.
She then claimed her fifth gold medal, in 400m at the Nove Mesto Athletics Meet in Czech Republic on 20th July. Hima Das finished first with a last-minute spurt of speed with a season-best time of 52.09 seconds. But her personal best time is 50.79 seconds, which she had clocked during the 2018 Asian Games.

Hima Das with her incredible achievement received praise from not only the Prime Minister but also the President and top Bollywood and sports personalities. She replied to every tweet thanking them for the good wishes with a promise to work even harder.

Hima Das still needs to make the cut for World Championships, and from there on, work harder than ever before in order to claim a prestigious ticket for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 to carve out a reputation for herself as one of the world’s top athletes.

When Yuvraj Singh scored 6 sixes off Stuart Broad’s bowling during ICC T20I World Cup 2007, the left-handed batsman was rewarded 1 crore for his flamboyant batting. Likewise, Hima Das won five gold medals on the trot and she too deserves a big reward for her achievement. Cricket isn’t the only sport in India.

Upcoming 64 Core AMD Epyc Rome CPU is the #1 on SiSoft Processor Database

0

Forget Intel Xeons, AMD tops the server CPU list and it’s upcoming 64 Core Epyc Rome CPU spots #1 on SiSoft Processor Database

It’s been months since the announcement of the next-gen Zen 2 architecture based EPYC Rome CPUs by AMD. The company has only shown us the preview of these new server end processors.

After the launch the of Ryzen 3000 processors, now it’s obvious that AMD is planning for the launch of these anticipated server end CPUs by the end of this year. So leaks are also getting surface online now.

The new leak shows that the upcoming monstrous 64 core EPYC Rome CPU is holding the #1 spot at the SiSoft Processor Database. This is not surprising because we already have seen the power of Zen 2 based on 7nm process.

AMD's new 7nm EPYC Rome CPUs to consume more of Intel's Server shares
The EPYC Rome CPU

Not only the Zen 2 has great IPC boost but also accompanies more L3 cache memory, better clock speeds and greater efficiency.

To compete with AMD, Intel did announce an insane priced 56 Core Cascade Lake-AP flagship CPU but with so many cores Intel could not top the charts even costing as much as $40-50K.

The flagship 64 core EPYC Rome CPU is said to be costing around $10,000 and at that price bracket, you get only 18-28 core Intel Xeon CPUs that too based on old 14 nm architecture.

AMD's new EPYC Rome processors is set to bring revolution in industry

This AMD server-based CPU has 64 cores and 128 threads which double up if a multi-socket motherboard is used.

The CPU runs at a base clock of 1.5GHz and a boost up to 3.3GHz along with a huge 256 MB of L3 cache and 32 MB of L2 cache memory. Intel is not even close to such huge cache memories.

Here we see the 64 core monster scoring a whopping 1565GOPS in the processor arithmetic test, securing the top spot in the processor database (processor arithmetic).

Upcoming 64 Core AMD Epyc Rome CPU is the #1 on SiSoft Processor Database

This is the first time ever AMD has totally out beaten all its competitors and topped the charts, thanks to the new Zen 2 architecture. This will help AMD to lead the server end CPU lineup after disrupting the desktop CPU market.

It’s just the start of AMD’s aggressive roadmap which they are promising to deliver, unlike Intel. In the coming years, we are likely to see the Milan CPUs based on the Zen 3 7nm+ design as well which they say to be “on track”.

Upcoming 64 Core AMD Epyc Rome CPU is the #1 on SiSoft Processor Database

If you closely see the current top 10 leaders in the list then you’ll mostly find the multi-socket systems powered by 2-4 Intel Xeon Platinum parts with about 22-28 cores each.

Not even a dual-socket Intel Xeon CPUs could beat a single 64 core AMD EPYC Rome CPU which is pretty insane. So, with dual-socket, these CPUs will destroy the performance charts.

Also, with some reasonable price points, we can expect this efficient server end CPUs gaining much more popularity in the course of time.

Fortnite World Cup: Everything you need to know about the $30 million tournament…

The biggest Fortnite tournament to date is happening this weekend, and there is $30 million on the line. Starting today, Epic Games will kick off their first ever Fortnite World Cup, a massive, multipart tournament that brings together the best players in the world at the 23,000-seat Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City, best known as the host venue of the US Open.

fortnite pro am nstatt 1.0 Fortnite World Cup: Everything you need to know about the $30 million tournament...

The massive prize pool combined with Fortnite’s unparalleled mainstream popularity makes this possibly the biggest e-sports event in history. Fortnite is a game with bonafide global stars, like Twitch streamers Ninja and Tfue. There have already been a handful of major Fortnite competitions, and the World Cup is shaping up to be the biggest one yet.

HOW TO WATCH

The Fortnite World Cup is streaming online. Not only that, but Epic just unveiled a brand-new picture-in-picture feature so that you can actually watch the World Cup inside of the game while you’re playing Fortnite. But if you’re looking to stream it outside the game, here are your options:

Image

FRIDAY, JULY 26TH: CREATIVE AND CELEBRITIES

The first day of the World Cup starts at 12:30 PM ET (9:45 PM IST), with a pre-show that leads directly into the Creative Finals at 1 PM ET (10:30 PM IST). Eight teams of four players will be competing, with a total of $3 million prize money. And there are some pretty big names, including Ninja and Faze Cizzorz.

Then, at 4 PM ET (1:30 AM IST), it’s the Celebrity Pro-Am. Like previous celebrity competitions, this competition will partner well-known celebrities. The favorites are likely Ninja and Marshmello, who won the inaugural pro-am last year at E3, but there are also familiar faces like Tfue and budding Fortnite star Ewok. The event lasts until 7 PM ET (4:30 AM IST).

Image

SATURDAY, JULY 27TH: DUOS

With 50 best duos in the game, each pair had to go through a fairly grueling qualifying process that lasted several weeks, and many of the biggest e-sports teams are represented, including the likes of TSM, Cloud 9, 100 Thieves, and Faze Clan. (You can see all of the qualified players right here).

The pre-show starts at 12:30PM ET (9:45 PM IST), before things kick off at 1PM (10:30 PM IST) through to 4PM ET (1:30 AM IST). The winners ceremony takes place at 4:45PM ET (2:15 AM IST).

SUNDAY, JULY 28TH: SOLO

Possibly the biggest draw is saved for last, with the solo tournament. This is arguably battle royale at its purest. 100 players drop onto the island, and each has to fight to be the last one standing. The list of qualifiers is a mix of well-known names and relative unknowns, the most prominent of which is Tfue, who qualified for the solo competition but narrowly missed out on qualifying for the duos one with his partner Dennis “Cloakzy”.

That means there will be plenty of potential for major upsets and surprises. Other big names in the solo competition include young prodigy and routine qualifier Faze Dubs and Bizzle of Ghost Gaming, who’s practically a Fortnite e-sport veteran at this point. The schedule is the same as for duos: pre-show at 12:30 PM ET, tournament runs from 1PM-4PM ET, followed by the award ceremony at 4:45 PM ET.

Lasith Malinga will play the final match of his odi career vs Bangladesh

Lasith Malinga is retiring from ODI cricket after the first game in the best-of-3 series against Bangladesh.

Sri Lankan ODI captain Dimuth Karunaratne has confirmed that legendary cricketer Lasith Malinga will bid farewell to international cricket after the 1st ODI of the series against Bangladesh at home.

The 35-year-old Malinga is retiring from one-day international cricket after the first game in the best-of-three series, which starts Friday.

l 1000 6 Lasith Malinga will play the final match of his odi career vs Bangladesh

Malinga has taken 335 wickets in 225 ODIs and has been one of the most distinctive fast bowlers.

The most fitting farewell for retiring paceman Lasith Malinga will be to win the series-opening limited-overs international against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne said Thursday.

Malinga will continue playing in the Twenty20 format.

Mainly we want to focus about winning the match. That’s the best thing we can give for him. We will try to give him the best farewell in this first one-day, Karunaratne said.

Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal said even though Malinga’s achievements and legacy are phenomenal, his lineup will play hard to prevent a Sri Lanka victory in the fast bowler’s last ODI.

Lasith Malinga has been great ambassador of the game. He is one cricketer that a lot of young children after watching him have started playing cricket, Tamim said.

Malinga has three hat tricks in ODIs, including four wickets in consecutive deliveries in a World Cup game against South Africa in 2007.

Lasith Malinga had been a long-time servant of Sri Lankan cricket. He will finish as the 3rd highset wicket-taker in ODIs for Sri Lanka. Malinga was also the highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in World Cup 2019.

Malinga is currently the 3rd highest wicket-taker in ODI cricket for Sri Lanka with 335 wickets in 219 innings with only Muttiah Muralitharan (523) and Chaminda Vaas (399) above him on the list.

PV Sindhu, Sai Praneeth reach quarter-finals, HS Prannoy ousted in Japan Open 2019

While PV Sindhu, Sai Praneeth and the men’s doubles pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty reached the quarter-finals, HS Prannoy was shown the exit door after a straight-game defeat to Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in the 2nd round today.

India’s top-ranked shuttler PV Sindhu survived a stiff battle against her familiar foe and local shuttler Aya Ohori in the women’s singles 2nd round of Japan Open, BWF Super 750 tournament in Tokyo on Thursday.

gettyimages 1162969190 1563621569 PV Sindhu, Sai Praneeth reach quarter-finals, HS Prannoy ousted in Japan Open 2019

PV Sindhu defeated Aya Ohori 11-21, 21-10, 21-13 to reach the quarters.

Sindhu had finished runner-up at Indonesia Open Super 1000 tournament last week, lost the opening game to unseeded Aya Ohori 21-11 before making a strong comeback to take the match 11-21, 21-10, 21-13 in 61 minutes.

Sindhu had clinched a similar come-from-behind-win against Aya Ohori at last week’s Indonesia Open. The India shuttler came from behind after conceding the first game 21-11.

Sindhu also extended her unbeaten record against Aya Ohori in on the tour as she has beaten her Japanese opponent 8 times in as many meetings. The three-game win at Indonesia Open was the first time Sindhu lost a game in 7 meetings to her lower-ranked opponent.

Sindhu has gone past the 2nd round at Japan Open for the first time in her career.

Sindhu had been struggling for form early in the season but the World No. 5 has looked in fine form since returning from nearly a 2-month break for Indonesia Open. Sindhu was stopped in the final of the Super 1000 tournament in Jakarta by Akane Yamaguchi.

Sindhu though has an opportunity to avenge the defeat as she may take on 4th seed Yamaguchi in Friday’s quarter-final at Japan Open.

B Sai Praneeth the World No. 23 continued his good run in Tokyo with a comfortable straight-game win over local shuttler Kanta Tsuneyama. The Indian shuttler, who outclassed Kenta Nishimoto on Wednesday, will take on Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto in the quarter-final.

Byju’s to replace Oppo on Team India jersey from september 2019

rohit Byju's to replace Oppo on Team India jersey from september 2019

September onwards there will be a new brand name on team India jerseys. Chinese mobile-maker Oppo, which had made a winning bid of about Rs 1,079 crore for the jersey rights in March 2017. For a period of five years, will make way for Byju’s, the Bangalore-based educational technology and online tutoring firm.

The development took place around two weeks ago and Oppo will be seen on the team India’s jersey only till the end of the forthcoming West Indies series. Once South Africa’s tour of India in September commences, Byju’s will take over the jersey. According to sources, “work is already in progress” on that front.

“Basically, what Oppo has done is cut its losses.”

BCCI will continue to receive the same amount from Byju’s and technically will be at no loss for the entire duration of the deal, which runs up to March 31, 2022, said a BCCI source.

Byju’s, founded by Kerala-based entrepreneur Byju Ravindran, is valued at around Rs 38,000 crore after its latest tranche of funding concluded recently. It is being seen as “just the right kind of player to enter this space”, said industry sources.

Think & Learn Pvt Ltd – Byju’s parent company – had received seed funding in 2013 to get started. As of the present financial year, it is learnt to have secured funding in excess of $750 million from global investors, including the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative.

Oppo’s winning bid in 2017 worked out to Rs 4.6 crore per bilateral match and Rs 1.56 crore per ICC or Asia Cup match. This was a massive increase from what previous rights holders Star India Pvt Ltd had been paying the BCCI.

In the previous deal, Star had paid the BCCI Rs 1.92 crore per bilateral and Rs 61 lakh per ICC and Asia Cup game.

Incidentally, when Oppo replaced Star in 2017 with the winning bid, its own sister concern Vivo (they’re both owned by Chinese corporate BBK Electronics)came up with the second highest bid of around Rs 750 crore. Vivo also holds the IPL title rights.
