Elon Musk adds nearly $25 billion to his net worth in just one day

0

The tech billionaire has set a new milestone to his inspiring career, adding nearly $25 billion in just one day, yes it’s true!! The Tesla CEO and founder of SpaceX did had an amazing 2020, with the Tesla stocks getting as high as possible and making him the richest person on Earth as well.

So, this comes no surprise that Musk has added $25 billion on March 9, taking his net worth to a whopping $175 billion.

The cause of this hike is again his EV company Tesla whose stock gained 19.6% to make it $ 673.58 which again helped other big tech giants like Apple, Amazon and even Facebook.

As we know, the tussle between Musk and Bezos to be the richest person in the world keeps going on. Although he did end up de-throning Jeff Bezos in January after that Tesla’s founder did end up losing, however, added as much as $25 billion to his net worth recently.

South Africa Rugby: Bok Women make positive mind-shift after RWC disappointment

The Rugby World Cup has been postponed to 2022

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, March 10, 2021/ — Springbok Women’s captain Nolusindiso Booi said her team have shifted their mind-set from disappointment to drawing the positives from the hand they have been dealt following World Rugby’s confirmation on Tuesday that the Rugby World Cup has been postponed to 2022.

World Rugby recommended last week that the extravaganza, which was set to be hosted between 18 September and 16 October in New Zealand, be postponed due to the pandemic, which was endorsed by the Rugby World Cup Board and World Rugby Executive Committee on Tuesday.

World Rugby will announce the revised tournament dates in due course.

Booi admitted that after the initial disappointment following the recommendation last week, the team’s focus has switched to capitalising on the additional time to prepare for the competition so that they are able to take the field fitter, stronger and sharper.

“We were disappointed initially because we have been working very hard to ensure that we could give a good account of ourselves in New Zealand,” said Booi.

“But this difficult decision was taken with the safety of all involved in mind, and that has to be the top priority.

“The postponement of the tournament will hopefully allow the hosting of this massive world sporting event free from any risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and where the teams are free to enjoy the experience fully.”

The hard-working lock added: “The positive aspect is that it will give us more time to prepare for the tournament with a focus on game time, conditioning and mastering our structures and game plan, so that we are even better prepared when we run onto the field next year.”

Booi was pleased with the strides made by the Springbok Women’s training group in Stellenbosch since they assembled early in January, and she looked forward to welcoming several other team-mates for the last two weeks of the camp from Sunday.

A group of 24 players are currently participating in the first stage of the training camp at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport, and the group will be increased to 40 players to accommodate team-members who have full-time employment and academic commitments.

“We have been making a steady improvement in terms of our conditioning and rugby skills over the last two months, and I believe the opportunity to spend so much time together will be beneficial in the long term,” said Booi.

“One of the keys to building a great team is to know one another well on and off the field, and we are achieving that cohesion in Stellenbosch.

“We will be welcoming several other team-mates soon, and I am excited about the new energy they will bring and what they will add at training and off the field.”

Intel 3rd Gen Ice Lake-SP Xeon Platinum 8352S & 8352Y Core CPU Benchmarks has been revealed

0

The new Intel 3rd Gen Ice Lake-SP Xeon CPU benchmarks have now been revealed within the SiSoftware Sandra database, and we can say that the performance has improved a little bit, bringing the chips to close the EPYC Rome competitors of AMD.

The Intel Xeon Platinum 8352Y and Xeon Platinum 8352S are seemed to be the same chips. Both have 32 cores and 64 threads. It features a 2.20 GHz base clock speed, a 3.40 GHz boost, and a 2.4 GHz of IMC clock speed. The clock speed was hovering nearly 2.8 GHz on average.

The Intel Xeon Platinum 8352S’s benchmarks were carried out on a single chip, while the Xeon Platinum 8352Y was tested in a configuration of dual-socket. The Intel Xeon Platinum 8352S scored 813.40 GOPS in the processor arithmetic test and scored 3564.27 Mpix/s in Multi-Media tests. Coming to the dual-socket configuration, the Xeon Platinum 8352Y did score 1604.36 GOPS, which is nearly perfect scaling.

The 2-socket configuration has double the cores to offer, so it will be great to compare it to the 64 core AMD EPYC Rome parts. The CPUs come out faster than the EPYC 7742 64 core flagship by 4%. They can’t win against the high-end Threadripper 3990X 64 core which offers a much higher clock, but versus EPYC, Xeon Ice Lake Intel CPUs seem to feature a slight gain.

Both the Intel Xeon 3rd Gen Server CPU and AMD EPYC lineups will be going up against each other very soon. AMD will launch the new 3rd Gen EPYC Milan lineup in the coming week, while Intel still hasn’t decided any hard launch date for its Xeon Ice Lake SP family.

Manchester United appoint John Murtough as Football Director and Darren Fletcher as Technical Director

0

After repetitive claims from everybody to appoint a director of football, Manchester United have finally appointed a Football Director along with a Technical Director.

John Murtough has been officially appointed as the Football Director while former player Darren Fletcher has been appointed as the Technical Director.

Manchester United published an official statement.

“Manchester United is pleased to announce the promotion of John Murtough to Football Director and Darren Fletcher to Technical Director, two new roles that will further strengthen the club’s football operations.”

“John will have overall leadership and responsibility for operations and strategy across all football functions, reinforcing the strong foundations already in place. This appointment builds on the work John has already undertaken in recent years, working closely with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the rest of the football staff to create the structures, processes and culture to deliver sustained success on the pitch. This has included successful overhauls of the club’s Academy and recruitment department.”

“Darren will work closely with John to add technical input and direction into all football and performance areas. He will focus on a co-ordinated and long-term approach to player and squad development, helping maintain the integral link between the Academy and the first team, aligned with Manchester United’s values and culture.”

“As Football Director, John will work day-to-day with Ole to align recruitment and other strategies and to ensure that the first team has the best-in-class operational support it needs to succeed.”

“Ole will continue his role in the recruitment process, supported by extensive scouting and data analytics functions that will continue to report to John. Matt Judge will also report to John, with a new title of Director of Football Negotiations.”

Manchester United Executive Vice-Chairman, Ed Woodward said: “These are hugely important appointments that reinforce the progress we have been making as a club in recent years in our relentless pursuit of success.”

“We have already made great strides forward in the way we run our football operations, and the benefits are visible in the resurgent pipeline of Academy talent reaching the first team and through our improved recruitment record. John has been integral to our progress in all these areas and his deep understanding of development ensures the club’s traditions of bringing young players through from Academy to first team will continue. This new position is a natural evolution that harnesses his leadership qualities and his years of experience in the game.”

“Darren’s stellar achievements as a player and his own journey from Academy to Premier League and Champions League winner means he naturally commands respect and understands this vital part of the club’s DNA. In this new role, the first in our history, he will deliver technical advice across all aspects of the football department as well as contributing to the communication and delivery of our football philosophy across all areas of the club.”

“I am delighted that John and Darren have accepted these roles and I look forward to the contribution they will make, together with Ole and the rest of the staff, as we build toward future success.”

Manchester United’s new Football Director, John Murtough said: “This is such an exciting time for everyone at Manchester United with the first team, Academy and Women’s team all performing strongly, and plenty of development still to come. It’s a privilege to be part of that process, and an honour to lead Manchester United’s football department, working alongside Ole, Casey and so many other truly outstanding staff all dedicated to delivering success to this club.”

Manchester United’s new Technical Director, Darren Fletcher said: “It is great to be back with the club and I am delighted to be taking on this new role. We are moving in the right direction and I am looking forward to continuing to work with Ole and his coaching team, and now with John as the Football Director, to help bring young players through and further develop the football side of the club. Sonos adds $169 Roam to its official speaker lineup, Pre-orders start today

0

Sonos, an American developer, and manufacturer of wireless home audio products have officially announced its latest speaker today, the Sonos Roam. It is a portable battery-powered speaker priced at $169 with Pre-orders starting today, and it will go on sale on April 20th.

The Sonos Move, the company’s first try at a portable product, was quite large and hefty actually to travel with. However, the Roam is a true “bring it anywhere” speaker. It’s the smallest speaker that Sonos has ever made, having dimensions of 6.61 x 2.44 x 2.36 inches and weighing 0.95 pounds. Sonos reportedly considered “hundreds” of different sizes and prototypes before settling on this design. The big question is whether the Roam can live up to Sonos’s reputation for good sound quality with this dimension.

Sonos adds $169 Roam to its official speaker lineup, Pre-orders start today
Image: Sonos

Sonos has packed the Roam with “two Class-H amplifiers.” There’s a tweeter for high frequencies and a “custom racetrack” mid-woofer — similar in shape to what’s in the Arc soundbar — that “ensures faithful playback of mid-range frequencies and maximizes low-end output.” Sonos says that the Roam is not a 360-degree design like some Bluetooth speakers, as it fires audio where it makes the most sense.

Here’s how everything fits together:

GIF: Sonos

Sonos is also bringing automatic Trueplay to the Roam, where it will use its built-in microphones (also there for the purpose of hands-free Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands) to calibrate performance based on its surrounding environment. This can make a real difference in echoey rooms and other different environments. Two Roams can be set up over Wi-Fi as a stereo pair over Wi-Fi but not over Bluetooth.

According to a report by The Verge, “unlike the Move, which gave you the options to choose between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modes, the Roam takes advantage of both connections at once.” It’ll connect to your Wi-Fi network automatically and then repair your phone (also automatically) once it’s away from home.

Connecting to both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi at once will allow you to play a song from your phone or another device nearby to the Roam over Bluetooth — and that music can then also be extended to the rest of your Sonos multi-room system. Apple’s AirPlay 2 is also supported and you can play audio from a ton of services through the Sonos mobile app as always.

Image: Sonos

On a full charge, The Roam provides up to 10 hours of audio playback, and a USB-C charging cable comes in the box. Sonos is also selling a wireless charging stand which the Roam can attach to magnetically — but you can also use any Qi wireless charger that will fit the speaker when it’s standing up. The Roam can last for up to 10 days of standby time, when not in use.

“The speaker has silicone at both ends to help protect it when dropped. It’s rated IP67 for dust and water resistance, so it can survive baths in a meter of water for up to 30 minutes.”

Sound Swap is another fun feature in the Roam. Just hold the play/pause button on the top for three seconds, and any other Sonos speaker in your system is closest will receive the music that’s playing on your Roam. “The way Sonos achieves this is clever: when Sound Swap is activated, all of your Sonos speakers will emit a high-pitched frequency that people (and dogs, I’m told) can’t hear. This is how the Roam figures out which one is nearby.”
