The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X destroys Intel Core i9-10980XE in benchmarks

In the coming month, AMD has a lot for those who are looking for high-performance CPUs targeting content-creators, developers, enthusiasts and gamers. The Red team is going to launch the 16 core Ryzen 9 3950X flagship as well as the 3rd Gen Threadripper lineup rumoured to be packing up to 64 cores.

To fight back AMD, Intel Cascade Lake-X processors are priced half rather than their Skylake predecessors. As the launch is near, we are getting more leaks on these new HEDT processors based on AMD’s very successful Zen 2 microarchitecture.

A very well known Twitter source has shared the Geekbench and 3DMark score of the new AMD Ryzen 9 3950X and compared against the Intel Core i9-10980XE. The 16 core monster readily beats Intel’s 18 core CPU which almost costs $1,000 more than the Ryzen 9 3950X which can even be used on a cheaper B450 motherboard.

3DMark Physics benchmarks

Looking at the scores we see the graphics used in two of the tests are different so we do not take that into account rather we consider the Physics score as it is a CPU bound test. The Ryzen 9 3950X scores 32,082 points, on the other hand, the Core i9-10980XE scores only 25,838 points trailing behind by a huge margin.

It is surprising to see that even Intel’s robust 18 cores failed to match the performance of AMD’s latest 16 cores. This might be due to the lower clock speeds and due to the age-old 14nm architecture results that its high-end flagship is falling behind a CPU that doesn’t even cost $1000.

Geekbench benchmarks

No Geekbench results of the Intel Core i9-10980XE have been found so comparing with the older i9-9980XE will give us a rough idea how its catches up against the latest AMD counterpart. The newer i9-10980XE doesn’t have much difference with its predecessor coming with the same core counts, process and architecture.

We see the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X wins in both the single-threaded as well as multi-threaded benchmarks against Intel who really boast for its superior single-threaded performance.

Maybe the newer Core i9-10980XE might be an improved one but seeing the previous benchmarks we can assume it to be falling behind in Geekbench as well, which makes a fair decision for Intel to cut prices of their high-end desktop lineup.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X spotted with 24 cores

In November we know AMD will launch the 3rd Gen AMD Threadripper CPUs based on Zen 2 architecture and now we are getting some solid leaks about these new CPUs. Threadripper CPUs are known for its high core and thread counts and we expect it to increase this year also.

Already we have an idea that AMD will launch a 24 core Threadripper CPU and who knows the Red Team might jump up to 64 cores this time. Prolific leaker TUM_APISAK has spotted the new 24 core monster at the Ashes of the Singularity benchmark mentioning the name of the CPU to be Threadripper 3960X.

This could be the worthy successor to the beastly 16 core Ryzen 9 3950X whose launch got delayed to November. No clock speeds, cache memory or any details have been disclosed but in the coming days, we can expect more details about the upcoming 24 core and 48 thread CPU.

Going by the names, we can expect a Threadripper 3970X CPU with 32 cores, and a Threadripper 3980X with 48 cores. Also, we are hearing a lot about the new flagship Threadripper 3990X with 64 cores! If the product stack is true enough then Intel’s new Xeon CPUs will have no value at all in the market.

If we see another leaker Komachi’s memo then we can notice that there’s two 16 core and 32 core Threadripper CPUs with TDPs of 280W. Though there’s no mention about the 32 core or 64 core CPUs but there are a lot of CPUs whose core counts are not given yet have similar TDPs.

Also, we see the mention of next-gen AMD CPUs and the Ryzen 4000 APU dubbed as Renoir with a TDP of 105W. So we can expect a busy next month for AMD with a bunch of products to launch for its eager fans around the globe. We will keep this space updated with more info about the new Threadripper CPUs.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have finally come to an agreement regarding the new El Clasico date.

The Barcelona vs Real Madrid match, popularly known as El Clasico was scheduled to be played on 26th October at the Camp Nou. But the match was postponed due to the ongoing disturbances in the Catalan region in north-east Spain.

The Spanish FA (RFEF) confirmed that EL Clasico will definitely not take place at the Camp Nou on 26th October. RFEF announced that LaLiga and both the clubs have until 10:00 local time on Monday 21st October to agree on a new date between themselves. Or else, the RFEF will decide a date on their own.

So, Barcelona and Real Madrid have finally agreed on a new El Clasico date. This season’s first El Clasico will now take place at the Camp Nou on 18th December 2019.

Real Madrid have made an official announcement regarding the new El Clasico date. They published an official statement saying: “In light of the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol’s Competition Committee ruling which postpones the match scheduled to be played on Saturday 26th of October between F. C. Barcelona and Real Madrid C. F., and states the clubs must agree a new date for the fixture, Real Madrid wishes to communicate that the date proposed by both said clubs is the 18th of December.”

The El Clasico will now take place on a Wednesday evening. Barcelona will play against Real Sociedad, meanwhile, Real Madrid face Valencia before the El Clasico.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid: El Clasico has been postponed

RFEF have confirmed that the El Clasico will not take place on 26th October.

The Barcelona vs Real Madrid match, popularly known as El Clasico was scheduled to be played on 26th October at the Camp Nou. But, now the match has been postponed due to the ongoing disturbances in the Catalan region in north-east Spain.

Violent protests have been taking place in the Catalan region. Spanish supreme court jailed nine Catalan separatist leaders over their roles in organising an independence referendum in 2017.

According to Goal, as of Thursday, the streets of Barcelona and surrounding areas had been hit by four consecutive days of violent clashes between protesters and security forces and a rally is planned for the city of Barcelona on 26th October – the date on which the El Clasico was scheduled to take place.

So the Spanish FA (RFEF) has confirmed that EL Clasico will definitely not take place at the Camp Nou on 26th October.

RFEF have released an official statement saying: “Gathered on an extraordinary day yesterday the RFEF Competition Committee, has resolved in relation to the National League Championship game between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid set for next October 26, after analyzing the allegations of the parties, the next:

  • The regulation prevents the alteration of the order of dispute of the parties established in the calendar.
  • The Committee lets the affected clubs reach an agreement to find the classic dispute date. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will set the date and time in the next hours, with Monday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. as a limit.
  • In case of not reaching an agreement, the Competition Committee will be the body responsible for determining the date of the meeting.”

According to Marca, both the clubs agreed that they do not want to play the first Clasico of the season at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and were receptive to the idea of changing the date, with everything pointing towards the match taking place on 18th December, however LaLiga were not in favour of the game being played on a Wednesday.

Instead, LaLiga suggested that the match be disputed on Saturday, 7th December, so that the match is on a weekend and does not have as big an impact on the millions of people watching around the world.

In order to do so, though, Barcelona and Real Madrid’s opponents on the 16th matchday, Real Mallorca and Espanyol respectively, would have to agree to have the fixture moved.

So now LaLiga and both the clubs have until 10:00 local time on Monday 21st October to agree on a new date between themselves. Or else, the RFEF will decide a date on their own.

Therefore, the one thing that seems clear is that Real Madrid and Barcelona will be able to rest next weekend. This means that after this weekend’s round of fixtures, they will both play in the Champions League, with Los Blancos traveling to Turkey to face Galatasaray while Barcelona will fly to the Czech Republic to take on Slavia Prague. They will not return to league action until the 11th matchday.

On the 11th matchday, Barcelona will host Real Valladolid on Tuesday, 29th October, and Real Madrid will make the short trip to Leganes on Wednesday,30th October.

Xiaomi enters the monitor market with two new monitors – 34-inch Mi Surface Display and 23.8-inch Mi Display monitors in China

With a wide range of smart devices and appliances, Xiaomi is dominant in the IoT sector and smartphones. In China, even their RedmiBook laptops are very popular and now they are stepping into the hardware market totally with the advent of their own monitors.

Today they launched two new monitors – one with a massive 34-inch display and another with a 23.8-inch display. So, let’s talk more about them:

Mi Surface Display

Mi Surface Display

This is a gigantic 34-inch curved gaming monitor with 21:9 aspect ratio. This huge display has 3440 x 1440 pixel screen resolution with 144Hz refresh rate and 1500R curvature.

It supports AMD FreeSync, also features a low Blu-ray mode and the monitor has a colour gamut of 121 per cent sRGB. Xiaomi has also confirmed that the screen can be lifted and rotated around the stand which can magnetically be mounted to the display.

Mi Surface Display

The Mi Surface Display 34-Inch has been priced at 2,499 Yuan which roughly converts to $352 and also who pre-book it will get it at 1,999 Yuan (around $282) and the product will go on sale from 21st October.

So, this a curved 2K display packed all the modern features and has a high refresh rate for gamers to enjoy upon. Though Xiaomi did not officially reveal but the reports indicate that the display has been provided by Samsung.

Mi Surface Display

Mi Display 23.8-Inch

Xiaomi loves its budget consumers so they also announced a cheaper monitor known to be Mi Display 23-inch monitor. As the name suggests, this monitor features a 23.8-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 178-degree viewing angle. 

This is a regular monitor but it has ultra-slim bezels making it much more attractive. The control buttons here are hidden at the right-side bottom panel bezel under the screen and the cylindrical bracket of the monitor can let you adjust the viewing angles.

Overall the monitor has a minimalistic design, the back panel of the monitor is clean with just the branding and it has an HDMI port along with a power supply port. Along with its brother, the Mi Display 23.8-inch will also be available in China from 21st October onwards and is priced at 699 Yuan (around $98).

Chelsea have been officially given the status of the dirtiest team in Premier League history.

Some football teams believe in doing the wrong thing if that wins them the match. Tactical fouls are nowadays very popular. Players take yellow cards or even red cards with a smile for their team.

So, now Spreadex have analysed over 1,000 matches since the Premier League’s creation in 1992. They have awarded 10 points for a yellow card and 25 points for a red card to a team.

In that list, Chelsea have come first with a total of 18,360 points and their nearest rival is Everton with 18,245 points.

ISL will replace I-League as the top flight of Indian football

AIFF and AFC have decided to replace I-League with ISL as the top-tier of Indian Football.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the officials of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) met in Kuala Lumpur and formulated a roadmap for league football in India on Monday.

The new roadmap which was proposed in the meeting, will hand ISL the status of the top division of Indian football, while I-League will be regarded as the second division.

In terms of continental football, the ISL champions would also be entitled to a play-off place in the AFC Champions League and the I-League champions would take a place in the AFC Cup in “a package that takes into consideration the recommendations of FIFA/AFC report of 2017”.

According to News18, it was decided in the meeting that two clubs (East Bengal and Mohun Bagan) from the I-League will be offered entry into the Indian Super League by the end of the 2020/21 season, while the club that wins the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons of the I-League will get berths in the ISL in the next respective years.
Clubs in both leagues will be consolidated into one league by the 2024/25 season and a system of promotion and relegation will be implemented.

There will be no changes in the team rosters in the 2021/22 season. This is also slated to be the year when the AIFF decides upon the details of the consolidated league that will start from the 2024/25 season.

Additionally, the I-League clubs that get promoted to the ISL in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons will not get a share of the central revenue which is distributed to other franchises.

AFC General Secretary Dato Windsor John said in a statement: “Everyone has to put the good of Indian football at the forefront and take the best decisions to develop Indian club football. The AFC will be very much involved to ensure the growth of the game to the next level with the pathway to a single league.
Every point of this package and it is a package has been thought-out extremely carefully and it is aimed simply at providing the best chance to develop Indian club football. We have informed AIFF that 10-12 teams are not enough for the top League it must be bigger.

He further added: “Everyone has contributed to the development of the Indian club game – ISL, I-League clubs, the AIFF and the AFC and I am sure that if this roadmap is considered further, then Indian football will see the benefits for the game. We are now all working together to deliver the best future.”

AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das said the proposed roadmap is in the best interest of all stakeholders of Indian football. He said: “We now have a roadmap which provides the best opportunity for Indian club football. I would like to thank the AFC and its General Secretary for their contribution in proposing a solution to this unique problem. India is an important country for football in Asia.”

Das added: “We have to be financially sustainable and take into consideration all commercial and contractual aspects of this plan because commerce is key to football not only in India but across the world of football.
We must be cognizant of that fact of football life, that footballing legacy and investment are equally important for the development of Indian football.”

So from the 2024-25 season, there will be a single league in the country, in which promotion and relegation will be implemented.

As for now, the I-League, officially the second division of Indian football, will begin on 16th November. With the future roadmap of the domestic game now clear, it will be a very exciting season. On the other hand, the ISL – officially the elite division of Indian football- begins its 2019-20 campaign on 20th October.

The Reno series has redefined the premium smartphone lineups and is performing well against the likes of OnePlus, Samsung and others in this segment. While the Realme XT series with its new 64MP camera is making a mark in the budget/ mid-range segment.

The Reno 2 series, which was launched at the end of September 2019, got 4.2x online and 2.3x offline higher pre-orders in comparison to their predecessors in Taiwan. The Reno series has a lot of potentials and in a situation where Huawei has been slapped by Google, analysts say that Oppo will be dominating more in China, affecting Huawei’s sales.

It is said that in Q4 of 2019, the Oppo Reno series will be the best-selling smartphone in the country of its origin. Realme smartphones are also being offered in several other countries including Taiwan where it has become one of the top-10 brands in a short span of time.
