With only a few months until the Tokyo Olympics, a new report claims that the big event’s cancellation might cost Japan USD 17 billion. The games will cost 1.66 trillion yen if they are hosted without spectators. According to Kyodo News, if a state of emergency is proclaimed to deal with a surge of COVID-19 cases during the Tokyo Olympics, there might be even greater economic damage.
According to Takahide Kuichi’s (an executive economist at the Nomura Research Institute) estimations, the initial emergency declaration in spring 2020 culminated in a 6.4 trillion-yen economic loss, while the second between January and March 2020 resulted in a 6.3 trillion-yen financial damage.
The latest declaration, which started in late April, is expected to result in a 1.9 trillion-yen loss. If the government decides to extend the state of emergency beyond May 31, the amount will almost certainly rise. The country’s vaccination rollout is picking up steam. However, it still trails behind other first-world nations like the United States and England, where indications of stability are beginning to surface.
A public backlash has erupted in Japan before the Tokyo Olympics, with more than 80% of the population opposing the games’ hosting. This trend coincides with a recurrence of COVID-19 infections in Japan, particularly in Tokyo. The prefectures have been declared emergency zones in order to relieve the pressure on hospitals in the worst-affected areas. Japan’s national emergency does not include strict lockdown regulations like those used in England and other nations to relieve the pressure on hospitals treating patients in the impacted areas.
After a 5.1 percent drop in the first quarter, the country is at risk of another drop in the current quarter. Nevertheless, John Coates, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee, has stated that the Tokyo Olympics will be held regardless of the situation.
Luis Suarez was shown the door by Barcelona due to his age even though he was one of their best players. Suarez is the all time third-highest goal scorer in Barcelona’s history.
Suarez was shattered by the decision and he was welcomed by Atletico Madrid. The Uruguayan scored 21 goals helping the club to win their first La Liga title in 7 years and Barcelona has been struggling whole season which clearly shows Barcelona’s lack in judgement regarding Suarez.

Suarez added: “It’s tougher [to win the La Liga with Atletico Madrid], it takes more. I realised the enthusiasm of the players here; I really enjoy seeing my teammates, because the happiness of being champions is something that makes it more special.”

The Core i5-1155G7 still comes with 4 cores and 8 threads, with onboard Intel Iris Xe graphics featuring 96 Execution Units, so expect better graphics performance than last-gen. It features a lower base clock speed of 2.5 GHz than the 1145G7; however, the boost will increase to 4.5 GHz.
While the Xiaoxin Air 14 comes with a 14-inch display while the Xiaoxin Air 15 sports a 15.6-inch display with a 1920×1080 resolution 100% sRGB colour gamut, a matte display, also supporting DC dimming.
In terms of ports & connectivity, the laptops features a full-featured USB-C interface, dual USB-A 3.2 interfaces, and supports WiFi 6. While the Xiaoxin Air 14 sports a battery capacity of 56.5Wh and weighs about 1.38kg; the Xiaoxin Air 15 comes with a 70Wh battery and weighs about 1.76kg.
Coming to the pricing & availability, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14/15 2021 laptops will be available for purchase on 11th June in China like the Yoga 14c Ryzen Edition and Yoga 13s Ryzen Edition. The 12 European clubs which decided to form a breakaway European Super League have faced backslash from everywhere. Out of the 12 clubs, 9 clubs have already backed out officially, though that didn’t rule them out of some punishment by UEFA.
Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan have all come to an agreement with UEFA.
Now, the remaining three clubs, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, still haven’t backed out from the European Super League, and UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against them.
However, UEFA will need to wrap up the case as soon as possible as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have qualified for the Champions League next season. The draw for the UCL 2021-22 is set to take place on 26th August.
It is also likely that the three clubs will approach the Court of Arbitration for Sport and put pressure on the governing body to resolve the case, but you can’t rule out the fact that they could face hefty fines as well.
In a statement on Tuesday, UEFA confirmed that they were taking action against the three clubs. The statement read:
“Following an investigation conducted by UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project. Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Juventus FC for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework.”
“Further information will be made available in due course.”
The harshest punishment could be the expulsion of the three clubs from the Champions League for one or two seasons, along with a heavy fine.

Microsoft isn’t talking about its big Windows plans this week at Build 2021, which is an annual conference event held by Microsoft, aimed at software engineers and web developers using Microsoft technologies, and that’s because the company is preparing to detail what’s next for its PC operating system separately. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella teased this announcement during his Build keynote this morning, revealing he has been testing “the next generation of Windows” in recent months.
“Soon we will share one of the most significant updates to Windows of the past decade to unlock greater economic opportunity for developers and creators. I’ve been self-hosting it over the past several months, and I’m incredibly excited about the next generation of Windows. Our promise to you is this: we will create more opportunities for every Windows developer today and welcome every creator who is looking for the most innovative, new, open platform to build and distribute and monetize applications. We look forward to sharing more very soon.”
The American software developer has been working on a new app store for Windows in recent months, while also working on some significant UI changes to the operating system. In his statement, Nadella appears to reference the store changes with a promise to unlock a better economy for creators and developers within Windows itself.
The Windows Store will likely receive some important changes, allowing developers to submit any Windows application — including browsers like Firefox or Chrome. Rumors have suggested that developers may be able to avoid Microsoft’s own 15 percent cut on apps and 12 percent cut on games as Microsoft may allow third-party commerce platforms in apps.
Nadella’s specific mention of a “next generation of Windows” is interesting, too. Microsoft typically refers to everything as “Windows 10,” and this language could suggest the company is preparing a more significant shift with Windows branding than just the UI alone.
Microsoft confirmed last week that its OS originally built for dual-screen devices, Windows 10X, will no longer ship. The Redmond, Washington-based company is now bringing the best bits of Windows 10X, a simplified version of Windows, into the main version of Windows 10 instead. We’re expecting to see some significant UI changes to Windows under something codenamed “Sun Valley.”
According to The Berge, some of that work has already started, “with new system icons, File Explorer improvements, and the end of Windows 95-era icons.” Basic foundations of Windows are also receiving improvements, with fixes for a rearranging apps issue on multiple monitors, the addition of the Xbox Auto HDR feature, and improvements to Bluetooth audio support.
Nadella says we’ll hear more about the future of Windows “very soon,” so we are expecting some type of announcement or event in the coming weeks ahead.
