Nottingham Forest’s 21 signing summer window: Can they now stay up in the Premier League?

0

Nottingham Forest smashed the record for the most transfers in a single window by a Premier League club, signing 21 players in the summer of 2022. Scottish sides Dundee (summer of 2000) and Livingston (2001) held the previous record, with 19 incomings.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis has backed Steve Cooper to the greatest extent possible. The manager now has a brand new squad to work with, as reinforcements have arrived in every position.

Nottingham Forest’s record breaking summer: Will it help them become top-flight regulars?

The likes of James Garner, Philip Zinckernagel, Max Lowe, Keinan Davis, Brice Samba and Djed Spence all returned to their parent clubs after their loan spells expired. Over 20 players left the club at the end of the season, after winning promotion to the top flight.

As a result, the massive incoming list was necessary for the playoff winners to have a competitive squad.

Here is the list of Nottingham Forest signings:

Goalkeepers

Dean Henderson

Wayne Hennessey

Defenders

Renan Lodi

Willy Boly

Neco Williams

Harry Toffolo

Loic Bade

Cheikhou Kouyaté

Omar Richards

Giulian Biancone

Moussa Niakhaté

Midfielders

Orel Mangala

Morgan Gibbs-White

Jesse Lingard

Remo Freuler

Lewis O’Brien

Brandon Aguilera

Attackers

Emmanuel Dennis

Taiwo Awoniyi

Hwang Ui-jo

Josh Bowler

It is important to note, though, that some of these players have also been loaned out and won’t be a part of the squad for the season. The issue now becomes the integration of all these players into the fold, and having a cohesive dressing room which can lead to results on the pitch.

Steve Cooper proved his worth when he won the play-offs last season. And now, he has a bigger challenge in front of him in the Premier League.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU Cinebench R23 Benchmark Leaked Online

0

In the Cinebench R23 benchmark, AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core CPU’s most recent benchmark results have been revealed. The same user posted updated findings that are now being cooled by a 360mm AIO liquid cooler. The CPU still operates at its default all-core boost frequency of 5.0 GHz, but it achieves a much higher multi-threaded score of 36256 points.

The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X is the top-tier Zen 4 CPU and costs $699 US. It competes with Intel’s 12th Gen Core i9-12900K and the soon-to-be-released 13th Gen Core i9-13900K. (via Harukaze5719).

AMD
credit: wccftech

The leaker claims that the CPU is a close-to-retail processor with a base speed of 4.5 GHz, a boost clock of 5.7 GHz, and an all-core boost frequency of 5.0 GHz. On the 16 GB of DDR5-5600 memory installed in the Gigabyte AORUS X670E Xtreme motherboard, the chip was operating at default speeds and a default voltage of 1.48V. According to the user, the board will cost about 4999 Yuan, or about $700 USD. Let’s first discuss the parameters before moving on to the performance.

According to reports, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X has a score of around 19800 while the Ryzen 5 7600X has a score of about 15100.

In comparison to its predecessor, the Ryzen 5 7600X is 34% quicker, however it is slower than the i5-12600K. While also being slightly slower than the Core i7-12700K, the Ryzen 7 7700X is about 29% faster than its predecessor.

We can’t say for sure if the chip was affected by thermal throttling because that seems to be the case with many samples because the performance was assessed using an air-cooler. With that said, we can also evaluate the Ryzen 9 7950X’s performance in comparison to the Core i9-13900K, the top-of-the-line Raptor Lake processor. The AMD Zen 4 CPU appears to be about 4% slower in single-core performance and 10% slower in multi-core performance. That’s a significant gap in multi-core performance, but we also need to consider the Raptor Lake CPU’s much larger 250–350W TDP.

The leaker further claims that water cooling is required for the chip to reach an all-core frequency of 5.0 GHz. Although the temperature with water cooling doesn’t go above 100C, it also isn’t stable inside Cinebench R23. There appears to be a major problem with this specific leak because AMD publicly displayed a +48% / +41% Multi-threaded boost in Cinebench R23 vs the 5950X and 12900K in their own presentation.

In her final game, Williams lost against Ajla Tomljanovic by a scoreline of 5-7, 7-6, 1-6. Over 72,000 fans filled the stadium to see the icon play in the US Open, and eventually, the last game of her legendary career.

Serena Williams plays out final game of her career in the US Open

“I wouldn’t be Serena if there wasn’t Venus. So thank you, Venus. She is the only reason Serena Williams ever existed. It all started with my parents, they deserve everything. I am so grateful to them. These are happy tears, I guess,” Serena Williams said.

Asked by an on-court interviewer whether there was any possibility she might yet extend her career, she replied: “I don’t think so, but you never know.”

“It’s been a fun ride,” she said. “It’s been the most incredible ride and journey I’ve ever been on, I mean, in my life.

“I’m just so grateful to every single person that’s ever said, ‘Go, Serena,’ in their life. I’m just so grateful. You got me here.”

Apple: iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8 and much more expected on September 7th Apple Event

0

On Wednesday, September 7, Apple’s annual fall event focused on the iPhone is scheduled to start. Unlike last year, there will be an in-person component with media invited to test our new smartphones.

The 5.4-inch iPhone small is being cancelled owing to weak sales, which is the largest change to the iPhone 14. There are still four iPhones coming this year, but the iPhone 13 small will be the final model to come in the 5.4-inch size.

We can anticipate seeing the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, the 6.7-inch “iPhone 14 Plus” or “iPhone 14 Max,” the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max as Apple is replacing the 5.4-inch iPhone with a larger 6.7-inch model. The 6.7-inch regular iPhone under development was widely believed to be dubbed the iPhone 14 Max, following the Pro Max naming pattern, but recent speculations suggest that it may really be called the iPhone 14 Plus.

The regular iPhone 14 models will essentially appear the same as the iPhone 13 models, with the most of the changes reserved for the more expensive Pro models, aside from the difference in size. There won’t be any visual modifications, the Face ID notch will remain, and ProMotion technology isn’t anticipated to be included in the iPhone 14 models.

According Apple rumours, the iPhone 14 and 14 Max won’t even get a new A-series processor; instead, they’ll stick with the A15 seen in the iPhone 13 models. Although there are a few new features coming, the iPhone 14 models are more of an iPhone 13S upgrade.

The iPhone 14 models will sport an enhanced front-facing camera with a larger f/1.9 aperture and autofocus capabilities, as well as the upgraded Ultra Wide camera that was added to the iPhone 13 models last year.

The Pro line is receiving a considerably more significant update than the basic iPhone 14 models, which will only see minor tweaks. The 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes won’t change, but Apple may do away with the notch. Apple will utilise a pill-shaped cutout and a hole-punch cutout in place of the notch, and both will house the front-facing camera and the TrueDepth technology required for Face ID.

Apple

Apple intends to use software to integrate these two separate cutouts into a single extended pill-shaped notch.

The long-awaited Always-On Display feature, which is anticipated to behave similarly to the Apple Watch always-on display, will be made possible by the speculated inclusion of a 1Hz to 120Hz ProMotion display in the iPhone 14 Pro versions.

Similar to the standard iPhone 14, the front-facing camera will have a larger f/1.9 aperture and focusing capabilities. One of the greatest camera enhancements we’ve seen on the iPhone line in years will be made possible by a new 48-megapixel Wide lens with a 21 percent bigger sensor that permits higher-resolution photos and 8K video recording.

The iPhone 14 Pro models might start at a higher price because of all the enhancements; Apple may decide to raise pricing by about $100. The iPhone 14 Pro would start at $1,099 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at $1,199 if that were to occur, but no exact pricing information is known at this time.

It is anticipated that there won’t be any significant visual changes between the Apple Watch Series 8 and Series 7. Apple will continue to provide devices in the 41mm and 45mm sizes, and the S8 chip inside is anticipated to perform similarly to the S7.

Apple
credit: macrumors

The Apple Watch Series 8 is not likely to provide a particular temperature reading, only track variations over time because taking a core body temperature reading is more accurate than taking a reading from the skin.

The Apple Watch Series 8 may include fall detection and car crash detection as features. An increase in gravitational force would be picked up by the accelerometer, which would subsequently, if necessary, alert the emergency services.

Apple intends to release a more expensive “Apple Watch Pro” with the Apple Watch Series 8 models, albeit it may go by a different moniker. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new design of the Apple Watch “pro” is “an development of the current rectangular shape.”

Apple
credit: macrumors

It will be bigger than the existing 45mm Apple Watch Series 7 and have a screen that measures two inches diagonally instead of the 45mm Apple Watch’s 1.9-inch diagonal screen size. The display will have a resolution of 410 x 502, and the increased screen real estate might be used to show more health metrics.

The Apple Watch Pro isn’t simply a more expensive model of the Apple Watch; it’s also more durable and designed for people who require additional protection for extreme sports and other strenuous activities. It will have a shatter-resistant display and be composed of a titanium alloy that is better equipped to withstand misuse.

Chelsea break summer spending record with £254 million on new players

0

The summer transfer window is now in the history books, and Chelsea have broken the record for the most money spent of any team in Premier League history. The West London side spent a total of £254 million on their signings, and recuperated £44.37 million in permanent sales.

In the first transfer window under the new ownership, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have gone all-out to acquire Thomas Tuchel’s transfer targets. They were behind in terms of their plans for the summer due to the takeover, and had to spend more to make up for the delay.

Chelsea break transfer spend record in 2022

“We can discuss endlessly if we overspent or if it’s too much money for the players but the players that we got are very, very good players and very good personalities. Everything was needed to rebuild the group and inspire the group and I think we did excellent, excellent signings,” Thomas Tuchel said about the massive spending.

“It does not help if we talk about the prices too much because we’ll always find people and it’s maybe hard to argue when they say it’s way too much money – okay. This is how the market was for us. Maybe we were not in the perfect position to find always the right timing and the right price. But this was nobody’s fault, this was because of the situation, but the players we got fit perfectly and I’m very happy to work with this group now.”

Raheem Sterling became the first signing for the club under the new ownership, joining for £45 million. Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been linked with Chelsea for years, was next. He joined for a fee worth £35 million.

Wesley Fofana is the most expensive arrival for the club with a price tag of £75 million. Marc Cucurella became the most expensive left-back in the Premier League, with a £63 million move.

Chelsea also spent a considerable amount on young players, with Gabriel Slolina, Carney Chukuemeka, Cesare Casadei and Omari Hutchinson joining the club as part of their future project.

On deadline day, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria joined the club to complete the line-up. And now that Tuchel has the players he wants, he needs to focus on getting the results in the pitch with a competitive season ahead.

Electric Vehicles: France will soon be allow its Citizen to lease electric vehicles at $100 per month

0

A programme to lease subsidised electric vehicles is being developed in France, and locals may be able to do so for as little as $100 a month. Budget Minister Gabriel Attal recently stated on television that the 100 euro aim is less than what many individuals spend on gas each month.

President Emmanuel Macron vowed to lower the cost of electric automobiles for low-income families as part of his reelection campaign. Although the French government already provides subsidies for EV purchases (up to 6,000 euros for an EV priced under 47,000 euros), critics claim that many potential purchasers still cannot afford them.

According to Bloomberg, the government is figuring out how quickly to implement the scheme and how many EVs will be offered for lease. Since the full details were not provided, it is unknown if the programme would be set up similarly to a conventional vehicle lease, complete with a down payment, mileage limitations, and other restrictions.

According to Bloomberg, it’s estimated that through the first seven months of 2022, 12% of new automobile sales in France were electric vehicles.

American interest has also been very high. In just 12 minutes in January, Chevrolet sold out of its brand-new Silverado EV. Ford recently debuted an all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck for police use, while GM and Honda announced intentions to co-develop EVs in April. Dodge only recently gave a sneak peek at its Charger Daytona SRT Concept.

Tesla shipped 254,695 vehicles in the most recent quarter, up 26% from the same period last year. Production was however impeded by parts shortages and China-related shutdowns connected to COVID.

A plan to prohibit the sale of new internal combustion engine automobiles by 2035 was just authorised by California regulators in related news. By 2026, the regulation requires that 35% of new passenger automobiles and light trucks sold in California be electric or emissions-free. By 2030, the goal will increase to 68 percent, and by 2035, it will be attained.
