25% of all iPhones produced could be Made in India by 2025

0

Apple Inc may make one out of four iPhones in India by 2025, J.P.Morgan analysts said on Wednesday, as the tech giant moves some production away from China, amid mounting geopolitical tensions and strict COVID-19 lockdowns in the country.

On top of that one in four claims, on Wednesday, JP Morgan analysts also said they believe Apple will move approximately 5% of iPhone 14 production to India in late 2022. If the claim is accurate, it would be a radical shift for Apple, as most of Apple’s products are currently produced in China. At present, about 5% of Apple’s products are manufactured in India, Vietnam, and other locations.

Taiwanese vendors like Hon Hai and Pegatron “play a crucial role in the move to India,” according to J.P. Morgan analysts led by Gokul Hariharan. We also anticipate Apple to certify local Indian manufacturers in the medium- to long-term. By the end of 2022, the Cupertino, California-based corporation is anticipated to shift about 5% of iPhone 14 production to India, according to J.P. Morgan. India is the second-largest smartphone market in the world, which is essential to note.

A report came out on September 9, 2022, revealing that Indian conglomerate Tata Group was in talks with Wistron to form a partnership for iPhone production. Further details of the plans haven’t been confirmed, but Tata Group could buy equity in Wistron’s India plants. It’s also possible that the two companies will build a new assembly plant.

“India’s iPhone supply chain has historically supplied only legacy models. Interestingly, Apple has requested that EMS vendors manufacture iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India in 4Q22, within two to three months of the start of production in Mainland China,” according to the JP Morgan report.

The pandemic hampered supply chain relocation plans for businesses, but with restrictions easing, more companies, including Apple, are reaccelerating these efforts this year. The brokerage expects Apple to move about 5% of iPhone 14 production from late 2022 to India, which is the world’s second-biggest smartphone market after China.

Apple started assembling the iPhone in India back in 2017. The company currently manufactures iPhones in India via its suppliers Wistron and Foxconn. With the government’s push for local manufacturing with schemes like Production Linked Incentive (PLI), and the ongoing geopolitical tensions in China, Apple is reportedly planning to move a major chunk of the iPhone production to India.

The electric car industry in India is gaining popularity among buyers, and as a result, Hyundai is planning to launch its Ioniq 5 EV in India later this year. The Ioniq 5 will be Hyundai’s second EV offering, following the Kona Electric.

The Ioniq 5 was recently spotted testing on Chennai roads, providing us a peek of its side profile and hinting at its impending release. The Ioniq 5 in India will look identical to the model sold overseas. It has a sleek silhouette and sharp lines featuring a neo-retro design.

As part of the partnership between Tata Power and Hyundai Motor India, an additional 60kWh fast DC chargers will be installed along with the current 7.2kWh AC chargers at 34 Hyundai EV dealerships across 29 cities in India. Moreover, Tata Power will provide and install the chargers at the preferred location of Hyundai’s EV customers.

However, there’s still no confirmed timeline for the Ioniq 5’s India launch, as some reports suggest a late 2022 launch, while others claim an early 2023 debut. The car was recently spotted being tested under heavy camouflage in Delhi, which seems to suggest that it could arrive soon, probably by the end of this year.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV Spotted Testing On Indian Roads

In its most powerful AWD variant, the Ioniq 5’s 77.4kWh battery pack sends power to a 325PS/605Nm electric motor, which can be driven for a claimed range of 417km. In the lower trims, the EV has a maximum claimed range of 458km. Irrespective of the variant, the Ioniq 5 will support fast charging, which allows for a 10 to 80 percent charge in 18 minutes. Details on the powertrain options for India are still under wraps.

Hyundai will bring Ioniq 5 to India as a CBU or Completely Build Unit. Because of this, the price would be quite high. Moreover, to keep the cost in check, the Ioniq 5 could arrive only with the smaller battery pack option (58kWh) and a single motor layout. In comparison, the EV6 comes with a larger 77.4kWh battery pack and also offers an all-wheel-drive (dual-motor) configuration. So, while the EV6 range starts from ₹ 59.95 lakh, the Ioniq 5 could have sub-₹ 50 lakh starting pricing (ex-showroom), which would be a significant difference.

Manchester United report losses worth £115.5 million for 2021/22 season

0

Manchester United have reported a loss worth £115.5 million for the 2021/22 season in their annual financial records. The club’s debt has increased by £95.4million to £514.9million. Since the records are only until 30 June 2022, they don’t include the massive transfer fees paid for the likes of Antony and Casemiro late in the transfer window.

And despite reporting a net loss for the season, United’s owners, the Glazers family, have taken out £33.5 million in the form of dividends. This makes them the only owners in the Premier League to take money out of their club.

Manchester United 21/22 financial records report £111.5 million loss

Amidst the discouraging financial records, the club right now has the highest wage bill in history, at £384.2 million. As a result of their contracts, they have broken the record for the highest wage bill in history in the Premier League.

Revenue for the season increased by 18 percent to £583 million, which was due to the full return of fans to football games and resumption of normal life. The fall of the UK pound has also played a part in the increase of money spent in running the club.

Manchester United’s financial records will add more fuel to the fire that has been raging against the Glazers. United fans have been continuously protesting against their owners to leave the club, but that hasn’t resulted in any action as of yet. Protests, as a result, are only going to intensify over the coming months.

Watford have extended the contract of one of their top talents, Joao Pedro, until 2028. The Brazilian was close to joining Newcastle United this summer, but the deal ultimately fell through and he ended up staying with the Hornets.

Over the course of two and a half years with the club, he has become one of their top players. Watford already sold Emmanuel Dennis this summer, and the departure of Pedro would have been another huge blow to their hopes of returning to the Premier League this season.

The player has scored 15 goals from 58 starts, and has made 83 appearances across all competitions during his time at the club. The new contract will see him earn a higher salary, and potentially puts all transfer speculation to rest for the time being.

The Brazilian turns 21 on Monday, September 26, and has continued to show his impressive form. He has scored two goals and two assists to show from nine appearances this season.

His impressive displays earned him the club’s player of the month award for August, with 51% of the fans voting in favour of Joao Pedro over the rest of the squad. It now remains to be seen how long the youngster will stay at the club before possibly moving to a new, and more competitive side.
