WIPL franchise owners are set to get an 80% revenue share in the first five years by BCCI

The WIPL franchise owners will get to keep 80% of the revenue in the first five years after the league starts. The BCCI recently floated a tender for the ownership of the five teams in the tournament. The first edition of WIPL will commence in March and the BCCI has invited parties for franchise ownership. January 21 is the deadline for the purchase of the tender and by 2025, all the teams will have an owner.

The ITT states that the formula of 60-40 will be implemented from 2028 for the next five years. From 20233, a 50-50 margin will be there between the teams and BCCI. For the first five years, the margin is 80-20 between the franchise and BCCI.

The IPL which has completed 15 years, has a 50-50 model. Their main revenue comes from sponsors and media rights. The WIPL media rights auction will be held on January 16 and the major parties are Star, Stony, and Zee.

With the growing popularity of women’s cricket in India, the potential for tournament success is very high. Besides the three contenders mentioned above, the other three competitors for the media rights will be Amazon Prime, FanCode, Times Internet, Google, and Discovery.

There’s also tough competition for franchise ownership. IPL franchises like CSK, PBKS, KKR, DC, and RR have already shown interest. Other private entities will be competing against them. However, the interested parties with a net worth of Rs.1000 crores will be eligible to be in the competition.

The ITT has given the interested parties the due date of January 13 to clarify all their clarifications. The tender will be available until January 21. For the verification process, January 23 is the deadline and the franchises will be allotted a closed bidding process on January 25. The highest bidder will be getting ownership of the team.

“We’ve applied to buy the bid document. Now we’ll have to find out about the economics of it. We are interested. If CSK doesn’t have a women’s team, it may not look good. We’d like to promote women’s cricket,” CSK CEO Kashi Viswanathan told TOI.

For WIPL, the players will be categorized into base prices ranging from 10 lakhs to Rs 50 lakhs. Smriti Madhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Deepti Sharma will be going under the hammer. Capped players will have a base price set from Rs.10 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakh and uncapped players to have a base price in the range of 10-20 lakhs. The last day doe registration closes on January 26 by 5 PM. The registry will be online. The BCCI will be dealing directly with the state associations and not the player agents for the auction.

Lamine Yamal considered the next gem to come out of the Barcelona academy

0

Barcelona’s La Masia academy is reputed for producing some of the greatest footballers the world has ever seen. And Lamine Yamal could be next on that list, with the youngster extremely highly rated by the higher ups at the club.

He is currently with their youth system, and is only 15 years old, meaning he hasn’t signed his first professional contract yet. His birthday is in July, which is when Barcelona are expected to hand him a long-term contract so that he can work his way to the top.

Lamine Yamal the next gem to come out of Barcelona?

As of right now, nothing has been finalised. And there are other clubs keeping an eye on his situation as well, which means a move away could also be on the cards. However, the two parties have opened talks regarding the situation.

Lamine Yamal has told the club that he intends to continue, and that there will be no surprise switch before their offer is heard. His agent, Ivan de la Pena, also represents Eric Garcia and Gavi from the first team.

So, there is a very good chance that we will see Yamal play for Barcelona’s first team soon. His salary, of course, will be negotiated based on figures that are suited for a player of his potential.

DoNotPay’s AI Bot to defend human!

The first time an AI bot will counsel the defendant during a court proceeding is rumoured to occur in February. According to a rumor, the first robot lawyer in the world will operate on the defendant’s smartphone using an app named “DoNotPay” and listen to courtroom proceedings in real-time while directing the defendant’s speech through an earpiece.

The robot lawyer’s creators are keeping the location of the court and the identity of the defendant a secret, but the hearing is scheduled to happen sometime next month.

The idea for a robot lawyer originated from the California-based startup DoNotPay, which Joshua Browder, a computer scientist at Stanford University, founded in 2015 to challenge parking tickets. In order to help people who are dealing with late fees, fines, and parking citations, Joshua Browder created the DoNotPay chatbot in 2015. However, in 2020, the company made the switch to artificial intelligence.

Since its release, the software has spread throughout the UK and the US, assisting users with a variety of letter-writing tasks, including those related to insurance claims, letters of complaint to local governments or businesses, applications for visas, and more. According to Joshua Browder, the epidemic caused a huge increase in DoNotPay usage. DoNotPay now states that it has about 150,000 paying subscribers.

DoNotPay: A path to justice?

Customers can join DoNotPay on a yearly membership for $36 if they want to appeal a ticket, obtain a refund, or battle spam calls. After registering, a user can use DoNotPay’s AI-powered chatbot to dispute their claim.

Here’s how to accomplish that:

  • Enter some basic data, such as the particular problem you want to raise.
  • DoNotPay turns such data into a legal document by processing it with artificial intelligence.
  • DoNotPay may present information as either an official notarized legal petition or a written email depending on the situation.
  • DoNotPay employs AI to respond to criticisms or arguments.

Sally Hobson, a barrister at a law business with offices in London, is one such attorney who recently used an AI in a difficult murder trial. A case analysis of over 10,000 documents was conducted. The task was completed four weeks quicker by the program than by humans, saving about £50,000. The software was developed by Eleanor Weaver, the CEO of Luminance. Since Luminance is provided in 80 different languages, it is used by over 300 law firms across 55 different nations.

AI robots raise ethical issues

The risk of an error or unexpected behavior in the near future remains, even though there are currently no reports of lawful AI bots acting in an unexpected way. Additionally, since AI bots cannot be sued, defining responsibility and payment will be more difficult.

President Murmu: India needs to become a Hub of Sofware Products

After demonstrating its software prowess, India should aim to become a software product centre, said President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday. Murmu stated during the 7th edition of the Digital India Awards that there should be an emphasis on democratising government data to assist technology enthusiasts in the country in developing localised digital solutions.

“We should leverage the prevailing policies and avail the ecosystem to position the country as a global powerhouse of software and hardware products by building made in India technology,” Murmu said.

She stated that India has emerged as an important country in terms of using technology for people-centric governance, particularly during the epidemic, which has benefited the rest of the world.

“Digital India is also playing an important role in enhancing the country’s profile on the world stage. This becomes all the more relevant as India takes over the presidency of G20 which is a milestone event,” Murmu said.

Manchester United considering new wage rule in a post-Ronaldo era

0

Manchester United are planning to enforce a new rule with regards to their wage structure. The primary reason behind this is the difficulty they had to face with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker was one of the highest paid players in the Premier League, and the club is keen to avoid a repeat of such a situation.

He mutually agreed an exit from the club after the relationship between them broke down completely. And now, United want to limit the salary of most of the squad players to around €9-10 million per season.

Manchester United plan to implement new wage structure

David De Gea is now the highest earner in the team, following Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr. While the Spaniard is still the number one option for Erik Ten Hag, his performances haven’t been as consistent as expected. And with his deal set to run out soon, United will probably be strict with the kind of money they offer him in case they plan to offer him a new contract.

Marcus Rashford is also one of the top players in the team that is a priority renewal. And Manchester United will need to be cautious not to overspend on contracts, if indeed they want to maintain a sustainable structure.

It now remains to be seen whether the Ten Hag era can mean a new chapter for the club behind the scenes as well.

Redfall is more like Far Cry 2 and STALKER then Left 4 Dead

0

The producers of Redfall have addressed the comparisons between the co-op vampire shooting game and the co-op zombie shooter game Left 4 Dead. Redfall, like Left 4 Dead, is a co-op first-person shooter in which players assume the roles of characters with individual personalities. Redfall, like Left 4 Dead, has players destroying swarms of undead creatures, though vampires replace zombies.

It’s unsurprising that some fans have drawn parallels between Redfall and Left 4 Dead, albeit the gameplay so far hasn’t given off much of a L4D vibe. Redfall does not look to be as hectic as Left 4 Dead, and it has an open environment rather than discrete levels. Redfall gameplay footage plainly shows that the game is aiming for something different than what Valve’s franchise has to offer, but it hasn’t stopped comparisons from being made.

Arkane’s Ricardo Bare addressed the Left 4 Dead parallelsand noted that he understands why Redfall has been likened to Left 4 Dead, but that the game is more similar to Far Cry. “Redfall occasionally feels like what you’d get if you merged the Arkane creative values with Far Cry 2 or S.T.A.L.K.E.R,” studio director Harvey Smith remarked. Fans of those games should, of course, keep an eye on Redfall if it isn’t already on their radar.

One potential issue with drawing influence from Far Cry is inheriting the shortcomings of that franchise. Far Cry games can have wide worlds that are potentially too huge at times, according to GamesRadar, but Redfall should not have that problem.

Redfall’s open environment is smaller, and the pace is “slowed down” in comparison to Far Cry.

Redfall appears to be a difficult game to get off, but Arkane has a track record that cannot be overlooked. Since releasing Dishonored in 2012, the company has on on a roll, following up with Dishonored 2, Prey, and, most recently, Deathloop. Most of Arkane’s work has been hailed by fans and critics alike, so Redfall should live up to expectations.

According to rumours, the Redfall release date has been pushed back internally, and the game will now be released sometime in May. This information comes from trustworthy sources, but fans should take it with a grain of salt. Redfall currently lacks an official release date, but with the game still slated to arrive in the first half of 2023, more detailed details should emerge sooner rather than later.

Redfall is in development for PC and Xbox Series X.

Nintendo Switch 2 forecasted for a 2024 launch

0

Those who are enthusiastic about the idea of a Nintendo Switch 2 or next-generation Switch device appearing in 2023 should temper their expectations, as a perceptive expert predicts that the original Nintendo Switch still has some life in it.

It was recently reported that Nintendo abandoned its Switch Pro project in favour of an OLED model refresh, with a global chip scarcity putting a halt to plans for a significant console overhaul. It appears safe to assume that the next system shown by Nintendo will be the genuine successor to the Switch.

Analyst Piers Harding-Rolls disclosed in a list of estimates for GamesIndustry.biz that he was “not expecting a next-gen Nintendo console in 2023: we have 2024 in our forecasts” (“we” being entertainment industry experts Ampere Analysis).

Nintendo
credit: notebookcheck

It’s worth noting what Harding-Rolls said, as he previously claimed that the PS5 would outsell the Xbox Series X|S, that the Metaverse would not be completely realised, and that the Switch will be the best-selling console in 2022. Importantly for this theme, he predicted last year that there will be no Nintendo Switch Pro device available in 2022.

With Sony declaring that stock shortages of the PS5 are now over, it’s probable that the system will sell even faster in 2023. With so much competition, it would be difficult for Nintendo to introduce a next-generation console this year, especially because there is no guarantee it won’t end up being another Wii U-style sales disaster (roughly 14 million units vs. over 100 million units sold for the Wii predecessor).

Nintendo must ensure that a Switch 2, Super Switch, or next-generation system continues the success story that the Japanese business has had since the release of the NES device in the early 1980s (1983: as the Famicom in Japan; 1985: as the NES in North America).

Tesla: Just Another Automobile Company?

Tesla has long been the largest disruptor in the automobile sector, but it is now acting more and more like the traditional automakers it once shook.

Elon Musk‘s automaker has spent a significant portion of the past year using some of the same strategies car companies have long employed to mask their issues, indicating that the business that once struggled to keep up with demand is now struggling with the supply and demand chain that its more seasoned rivals are familiar with.

Tesla: Just Another Automobile Company?

Tesla decreases costs

Hertz, a major rental car company, said at the end of 2021 that it has bought 10,000 Tesla Model 3s for its inventory. EV supporters were thrilled to hear the news, while executives and specialists in the automobile business questioned whether it was a precursor to Tesla’s overbuilding.

By the end of 2022, the electric car manufacturer offered a record-breaking $7,500 discount on its Model Y and 3 cars, analysts claimed. This was a clear indication that Tesla had to move things before the year’s end. It is still offering discounts on its cars in China, the world’s largest auto market, even though the US reductions ended at the end of December.

2 16 Tesla: Just Another Automobile Company?

Despite the majority of the automobile industry is in a lean period, it seems to be having trouble with its overstocked warehouse. At the end of 2022, holiday sales were scarce across all industries for the third year in a straight, prompting industry analysts to wonder if year-end blowouts were finally history.

Previous versions of Tesla cars were rarely discounted. In the past, Musk has even denounced the practice. The fact that price increases followed by cuts at the end of the year just made the deals all the more unsettling.

Experts predict these discounts will persist

Tesla’s stock price is also falling as a result of Musk’s Twitter issues and analyst concerns that the automaker is virtually going without a CEO at the moment.

According to Drury, the first quarter will be the real test. Experts and experts will be keeping an eye on the electric car manufacturer to see if it adopts a no-discount policy once again or if it sticks to the tried-and-true strategies of the past.

3 15 Tesla: Just Another Automobile Company?

Following Tesla’s Q4 delivery numbers earlier this week, analyst Emmanuel Rosner of Deutsche Bank stated that he anticipates price reductions to continue.

Tesla may still encourage purchases by using other levers even if it isn’t offering cash offers. Free maintenance, like Tesla’s offer of free Supercharging for 10,000 miles, is a typical enticement during this time of year, according to Drury
