Alienware launches its new M16 and M18 Gaming Laptops at the CES 2023

Alienware and Dell are going big on gaming ahead of CES 2023 with new laptops that are all about power, performance, and a revamped look. Six new laptops, including new X-series and M-series models, have been introduced. The Alienware m18, an 18-inch gaming laptop, is the most notable. The Alienware x14 and x16 are also new, with the x16 being Alienware’s first 16-inch gaming laptop since 2004.

The new Alienware M16 and M18 are Alienware’s most powerful laptops yet, with the latest next-generation Intel HX CPUs and Nvidia RTX graphics. Aside from that, these new gaming laptops include the new Legend 3.0 design language, which focuses on form, function, and quality with features such as a smoother finish, better hinges, and 1080p FHD cameras.

The 18-inch 16:10 aspect ratio panel of the Alienware m18, on the other hand, is now 14.5% larger than the M17.

The laptop is the same thickness and height as the m17, but it features a larger screen and a full-sized keyboard with a number pad and optional Cherry MX Mechanical keys. There are user-replaceable DDR5 SODIMM slots, up to 9TB of storage, and a 165Hz QHD or 480Hz FHD display option.

Under the hood, there are improvements such as Alienware’s Element 31 thermal interface material for both the CPU and GPU, as well as larger vapour chambers for greater CPU and GPU cooling. According to Alienware, this, in conjunction with the seven heat pipes, increases thermal capacity by 35%, while the quad fans and ultra-thin fan blades increase airflow by 25%.

The Alienware M16 is designed for folks who desire many of the same capabilities but in a smaller package. It is a less expensive device. The Alienware M18 will be available in the first quarter of this year, with higher-end models starting at $2,899. More options will be available later, with an entry-level model starting at $2,099. The Alienware M16 will be available in Q1 of this year with high-end configurations starting at $2,599, while an entry-level variant will be available later this year starting at $1,899.

Alienware X16 and X14R2 Gaming Laptops unveiled at CES 2023

Dell shook the gaming world in 2021 when it introduced its Alienware X-series product line to meet the thin and powerful gaming laptop market. Alienware will be at CES 2023 with two new additions to the x range, the Alienware x16 and the Alienware x14 R2, the x14’s replacement.

Both devices include the most powerful CPU and GPU available on the market, including the brand-new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40-series Laptops GPU, which debuted at CES. Both feature a similar architecture, however the Alienware x16 weighs 6 pounds and has more powerful configuration possibilities than its lighter (4.6 pounds) x14 sister.

Dell bills the Alienware x16 as the “world’s most premium gaming laptop,” and it can be bought with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 13620H, a Core i7 13700H, or a Core i9 13900HK.

Dell calls the x14 R2 the “world’s thinnest 14″ gaming laptop,” and it comes with only two processor options: Intel Core i5 13420H or Core i7 13620H.

On the graphics front, the x16 provides five GeForce RTX 40-series options: RTX 4050 6GB GDDR6, RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6, RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6, all with a maximum GFX power of 140W, or RTX 4080 12GB GDDR6, RTX 4090 16GB GDDR6, all with a maximum GFX power of 175W.

The Alienware has only three options: 3050 6GB GDDR6, 4050 6GB GDDR6, and RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6.

Both RTX 40 solutions for the X14 R2 are designed for lower power envelopes (50W or 80W max GFX power) to accommodate the thinner, lighter chassis (14.5mm vs.18.5mm) and cooling performance.

The Alienware x16 has a 16:10 240Hz QHD+ display with a 3ms response time and a colour gamut that is 100% DCI-P3. Gamers that require a faster refresh rate can get the x16 with the 16.0′′ FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 480Hz display.

The Alienware X14 R2 has a 14.0′′ QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 165Hz display with a comparable 3ms response time and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut as the Alienware X14 R1. NVIDIA G-SYNC + Advanced Optimus are supported by all display combinations.

For the first time, the Alienware team built a system with 6 speakers embedded in every configuration with the x16. The audio system features two upfiring tweeters for clarity and a dual woofer arrangement for powerful bass. Such a robust audio arrangement serves as an excellent foundation for the spatial sound offered by Dolby Atmos.

The chassis of both machines is designed using Alienware’s Legend 3 design language. Both have a full metal chassis constructed of anodized aluminium and magnesium alloy.

The big touchpad with dynamic light on the x16 is 15% larger than the touchpad on the x17 R2. The keyboard and the laptop’s back edge both have animated LED lights, and Dell claims that an array of 100 micro-LEDs allows for distinctive AlienFX behaviours like scanning, loop, and rainbow wave.

Cooling is an important part of any gaming laptop, and Alienware begins with a solid foundation in the form of a high-performance thermal material dubbed Element 31 (think of it as the “thermal paste”). When OEMs get this step wrong, everything else falls apart.

As a result, heat is transmitted from the chip’s package to a heatsink with a vapour chamber via the thermal material, an established method. Alienware then has software that controls the fans (based on internal sensors) to maintain the optimal balance of temperature and noise.

The Alienware x16 will be available in Q1 with high-end configurations with Intel and NVIDIA options starting at $3,099 (US) and $4,199, respectively (CA).

Additional configurations will be available later, with the base model priced at $2,149.99 (US), $2,899.99 (US) (CA). AMD Options will be available in Q2. The Alienware x14 will be released in Q1 of this year.

Dell has introduced its new G15 and G16 machines, both of which will be available in early 2023. In contrast to the latest Alienware models unveiled at CES 2023, these Dell gaming laptops emphasis price over all else. The Dell G15, in particular, starts at $849, while the G16 starts at $1,499.

These new editions of Dell’s gaming laptop line-up are also inspired by Alienware’s thermal cooling, with four heat pipes, improved fans, and a wider heat exchange.

The Dell G15 and G16 share the majority of its configurations, including the Intel Core i5-13450HX, i7-13650HX, i7-13700HX, and i9-13900HX processors. Both are available with 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB of RAM, as well as 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB of SSD storage.

The displays of the two laptops differ in configuration. The Dell G15’s 15-inch 1920×1080 display may be set to either 250 nits at 120Hz or 300 nits at 165Hz refresh rate. The Dell G16’s QHD+ 16-inch 2560×1600 300 nit display has a refresh rate of 165Hz or 240Hz.

The Dell G15 is available in three colours, each of which has been overly embellished.

Dark Shadow Gray, Quantum White (with Deep Space Blue thermal shelf), and Pop Purple are examples (with Neo Mint thermal shelf). The Dell G16 is available in two colours: Metallic Nightshade (with Black thermal shelf) and Quantum White (with Metallic Nightshade thermal shelf).

The Dell G15 has an HDMI 2.1 port, three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a USB-C Gen 2 port, an audio jack port, and an RJ45 port. While the port selection isn’t very fascinating, the abundance of USB 3.2 Type-A ports is appreciated. The Dell G16 has a similar port choices, except that the USB-C port on the RTX 4070 configuration supports Thunderbolt 4.

After planting millions of trees in India’s urban heat zones, wildlife habitats, biodiverse regions, hilly terrains, forests and arid areas since its inception in 2010, social organisation Grow-Trees.com has committed itself to planting 3 Million trees in the country in 2023. Explaining the reason behind this commitment,  Bikrant Tiwary, the CEO of Grow-Trees.com says, “India has committed to a 2070 net-zero target and we want to help the nation to implement and maximise green interventions as much as possible. Riding high on the festive spirit, ‘Deltin’ hosted a series of events across all its gaming and entertainment destinations in Goa, Gangtok and Kathmandu to amaze and entertain their guests while ushering in 2023. Guests got to experience non-stop, round-the-clock, celebratory activities from December 23, 2022, till January 01, 2023.

The lucky winners of the Deltin Zuri Double Dhamaka had the opportunity to win OTPCs worth 2 lakhs each week in the weekly lucky draw that lasted for two months from Oct to Dec 2022. Mega prizes up for grabs ranged from a BMW bike, luxury watch, iPhone 14, and assorted cell phones.
