Apple faces logistical and infrastructure issues in shifting manufacturing to India

0

The Financial Times reported on Tuesday that Apple Inc is facing challenges as it attempts to increase production in India. The Cupertino, California-based firm has been shifting production away from China as the country’s strict COVID-related restrictions harmed supply chains across industries and trade and geopolitical tensions between Beijing and Washington grew.

According to reports, only about half of the components from a casings factory run by conglomerate Tata Group in southern India are in good enough shape to be sent to Apple’s supplier Foxconn.

According to the Financial Times, Apple’s 50% ‘yield’ does not meet the company’s goal of zero defects, and the company’s expansion in India has been slowed in part due to logistical, tariff, and infrastructure challenges.

Since beginning iPhone assembly in India in 2017 through Wistron Corp and later Foxconn, Apple has placed a large bet on the country, in line with the Indian government’s push for local manufacturing. Apple wants India to account for up to 25% of its production, up from 5 – 7% currently.

Outlast: Netflix’s New Survival Thriller is here

0

Netflix has dropped the first trailer of the survival series Outlast, which will premiere next month. In this new format of the competition, we are going to have a terrible experience that will show sixteen lone wolves fighting with each other. There are some elements that have the chance to conquer $1,000,000. The catch here is no one can work alone and there is no voting out someone.

outlast

In this new trailer, we will see the contestants weathering a chilly fall in Alaska and putting their survival skills to the test.  We are going to see you have to survive as a team, or you go home with nothing. The clip unveils many various moments from the upcoming series with bonds and friendships forming, as well as people going up against each other and verbally battling it out. Many are going to give up as we see them shooting flares, which seems like a sign of backing out.

This is very interesting to see the group of adventurers surviving the harshest elements of nature, as well as human nature. The players will be dropped in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness during the fall, right when the threat of rain, freezing temperatures, and bears becomes more real as winter draws closer. As they arrive, the players will be broken into four different teams, and each team has to set up camp in a different location.

Though these contestants have strong survival skills, they’re required to work together as a team to win the million-dollar prize.  In this they are able to change their teams at any time, leading to unexpected alliances, selfish maneuvers, and decisions that could make or break each team’s ability to survive, glimpses of which we see in the trailer. It’s like Lord of the Flies come to life, as one person quipped.

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 launched – Worth the hype?

0

MediaTek is back and it has the answer to Qualcomm’s recent uprising, launching its own Dimensity 7200 SoC for upcoming mid-range smartphones. This is its inaugural chipset in the new Dimensity 7000 series and comes with cutting-edge AI imaging features, powerful gaming optimizations, and impressive 5G speeds.

“The MediaTek Dimensity 7000 series will be vital for mobile gamers and photography enthusiasts who are looking for an affordable way to squeeze the most battery life out of their phones without skimping on performance,” said CH Chen, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit.

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 launched - Worth the hype?

New Dimensity 7200 – What’s New?

Thanks to TSMC’s 2nd gen 4nm process new Dimensity 7200 helps in power savings for extended battery life. This new chipset primarily focuses on a good performance for mid-range smartphones, promises a better gaming experience, and improvement in photography.

In terms of architecture, you have again an octa-core CPU that integrates two Arm Cortex-A715 cores, featuring operating speeds of up to 2.8GHz, with six Cortex-A510 cores to handle all easier tasks. When it comes to GPU, you have the upgraded Arm Mali G610 GPU that supports fast response times and sustains high frame rates.

To further optimize power and performance, MediaTek’s built-in AI Processing Unit (APU) maximizes the efficiency of AI tasks and AI fusion processing.

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 launched - Worth the hype?

Faster RAM support up to 6400Mbps (LPDDR5) memory frequency and UFS 3.1 for maximum storage along with HDR10+, CUVA HDR and Dolby HDR support making viewing content even better. In terms of display, you get up to Full HD+ and 144Hz support which is enough for most.

Now, looking towards the camera/ISP, this Dimensity 7200 features MediaTek’s Imagiq 765 and a 14-bit HDR-ISP, which supports up to 200MP main cameras. One can also capture 4K HDR video, and the chipset also has built-in motion-compensated noise reduction. The Dimensity 7200’s APU supports powerful AI-Camera enhancements such as real-time portrait beautification.

Lastly, talking about the connectivity, this 5G chipset supports 3GPP Release-16 standard Sub-6GHz 5G modem with up to 4.7Gbps downlink and supports triband Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and next-gen Bluetooth 5.3. Also, you have Bluetooth LE Audio technology and Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio for wireless earbud support.

Is it worth the hype?

It is said that the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 will power 5G devices launching in the global market in Q1 2023 and considering the rise of mid-range devices, the new chipset from MediaTek will challenge the upcoming Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 or 7+ Gen 1 whatever Qualcomm might call it.

Though this is the launch article, as more details regarding benchmark shots are up then we can have a better idea for the same. However, in the next few months expect new mid-range smartphones powered by this new Dimensity 7200 and Qualcomm answering MediaTek obviously!

Julian Araujo to sign for Barcelona imminently until June 2026

0

Barcelona are all set to sign Julian Araujo after their appeal to the CAS. The transfer was disallowed for a delay of only 18 seconds on deadline day, and the plea has now been accepted. The move is expected to go through on Thursday, with a full agreement already in place.

Had the plea been rejected, there were plans for Araujo to sign for the club in the summer. But as things stand, he will be joining them immediately since the delay has been allowed by the governing bodies.

Julian Araujo to sign for Barcelona despite registering delay

A deal has been agreed with LA Galaxy for a fee worth around €4 million. Moreover, the 21-year-old will be signing a three-year contract until June 2026 upon his arrival in Catalonia.

Julian Araujo has gathered a wealth of experience during his time with LA Galaxy, and has made over a century of appearances already. The Mexican will be expected to provide cover for Jules Kounde, who is the preferred option for Xavi Hernandez. Moreover, he will also be an alternative to Sergi Roberto, who has fallen down the pecking order this season.

It is now only a matter of time before the player completes the formalities and is officially presented as a new player for Barcelona.

Champions League Round of 16 22/23: Night 1 results

0

Bayern Munich and AC Milan got off to a positive start in the Champions League Round of 16, winning their first leg games against PSG and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. Both teams won by a 1-0 margin, leaving the second leg very much open for a turnaround.

PSG 0-1 Bayern Munich: Champions League 2020 final rematch

The replay of the 2020 Champions League final saw an eerily similar outcome, with Kingsley Coman scoring against his former side to give Bayern the win. The German side were dominant for the majority of the game.

And even though Lionel Messi and Neymar were on the pitch, it wasn’t until Kylian Mbappe was subbed on that things really clicked for them. The Frenchman scored two goals, but both were disallowed by VAR for offside.

Benjamin Pavard was sent off in the final few minutes of the game for a clumsy challenge on Messi, picking up a second yellow card. He will miss the next leg, and it could prove to be a big absence for Julian Nagelsmann if he wants to continue having a back three.

PSG’s quest for a maiden Champions League title will take them to Bavaria next, and they must find a way to turn things around if they are to keep the dream alive.

AC Milan 1-0 Spurs: A first win for Milan

The Rossoneri picked up their first Champions League knockout win since 2013 with a goal from Brahim Diaz being enough to seal the win. The Spaniard has also become the youngest player for the club to score in the knockout stages since 21-year-old Kaka.

AC Milan achieved the breakthrough early, and were able to defend their one goal lead till the end to gain the advantage.

Spurs will feel like their injury record has gotten the better of them as things stand. But, they will have the chance to turn things around when they host the 7-time Champions League winners in the return leg.
