A plant to produce OLED display panels, which will probably be used in upcoming iPhones, is being discussed by Apple supplier BOE as it looks to lease dozens of hectares of land in north Vietnam.

According to the Vietnamese publication VNExpress, the Chinese corporation is looking to spend up to $400 million on 100 hectares of land, half of which may be used to erect a $250 million facility specializing in the production of OLED screens. By 2025, BOE hopes to have finished all construction.

Lenovo Legion Play Prototype Gaming Device is currently being sold in China

Lenovo Legion Play prototypes that were cancelled are now being sold in China. The Legion Play has a 7-inch display and is powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset. Other Legion Play specifications have also emerged.

The Lenovo Legion Play appears to have been nearing completion before the company pulled the plug. The ostensibly impressive gaming handheld was set to be released during MWC 2021. However, it was not released for unknown reasons.

Gaming handhelds have been on an upward trend in recent years. Several of these devices are powered by AMD APUs, and the majority of them run Windows. According to Taki Udon, prototype Legion Play units were selling for as little as $160 in China. The prototypes also include Android 11 OS out of the box with a custom launcher and HDR10 support. It also has front-facing stereo speakers and a 7,000mAh battery.

Pricing is one of the critical factors that could have influenced the release of the Legion Play. It is possible that the Lenovo Legion Play was more expensive than the Logitech G Cloud. The G Cloud is currently $300, but it has a less powerful Snapdragon 720G processor; the Steam Deck, which has a more powerful AMD APU, could be one of the reasons for the Legion Play’s cancellation.

The Lenovo Legion Play weighs 436g and has a screen resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. There is no indication of how many Legion Play units were or are still being sold. It is also unknown whether the device will require software to function.

Apple again delays its Next-Gen MacBook Pro Models with M2 and M2 Max Chips

Apple’s next-generation 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips were supposed to arrive in “early 2023,” but the laptops are now expected to be “delayed once again,” according to Taiwanese publication DigiTimes.

The report does not provide an updated launch date for the new MacBook Pros. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in his newsletter last weekend that Apple planned to release the laptops in the first half of this year, with the same designs and features as the current models, but with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. According to Gurman, those chips will only offer marginal performance improvements over the current M1 Pro and M1 Max.

Gurman said in late October that Apple planned to release the new MacBook Pros in the first quarter of 2023, and that the launches would coincide with the release of macOS 13.3, but it’s unclear if those plans have changed since then. According to Gurman’s most recent timeframe of the first half of 2023, the new MacBook Pros should be available by Apple’s annual developer conference WWDC in June at the very least, but hopefully sooner.

Apple’s chipmaking partner TSMC began mass production of 3nm chips in late December, but reports differ on whether the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips will be 3nm or 5nm like the M1 Pro and M1 Max.

The rest of the report focuses on how, according to unnamed supply chain sources, MacBook shipments will likely decline 40% to 50% sequentially in the first quarter of 2023. According to the report, the primary reason for the significant drop is Apple “adjusting its shipment ratios” by adding Wingtech as a MacBook assembler.

According to a new prediction from noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the next generation of Apple’s popular AirPods headphones could launch in the second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025. The lineup will reportedly include a $99 pair of AirPods, as well as a new model of Apple’s over-ear AirPods Max headphones (released in 2020).

The rumored $99 AirPods would be $30 cheaper than Apple’s current most affordable AirPods (the second-generation model).

Meanwhile, the third-generation AirPods are currently available for $169 with a wired Lightning cable only or $179 with a case that can charge wirelessly via MagSafe. Reducing the price of the entry-level AirPods model is similar to what Apple did with its Apple TV lineup last year when it released a new set-top box that was $50 less expensive than its previous most affordable model.

Kuo previously predicted that Apple would release a new USB-C charging case for “all” AirPods models in 2023, roughly a year before the arrival of the next-generation headphones. However, the two reports do not necessarily contradict one another. After all, Apple could update the AirPods charging cases in 2023 while leaving the earbuds unchanged until 2024 or 2025.

Brentford and Liverpool were trying to get their hands on the talented youngster – but could not offer guaranteed first team minutes. The medical assessment for Andreas Schjelderup’s move has been completed, and the 2004-born attacker has signed a contract until 2028 with the Portuguese club.
