5 celebrities who have invested in football clubs

0

Michael B Jordan recently became a co-owner of Bournemouth, which was acquired by Will Foley. And he joins the increasing list of celebrity owners of football clubs, who aren’t directly related with the sport.

Keeping that in mind, here is the list of five celebrities who have invested in football clubs.

5 celebrities who have invested in football clubs

LeBron James (Liverpool)

The basketball icon starts off the list of  celebrities who have invested in football clubs. He has been a long-time supporter of Liverpool, and is also an investor in the team. He has a two percent stake in the team, after it was acquired by the FSG.

Will Ferrell (Los Angeles FC)

LAFC won the MLS title this year, and they celebrated with Will Ferrell drinking out of the club. In 2016, he was named the owner of the club, which began competing in 2018. Now, El Trafico sees one of the most successful MLS clubs, Los Angeles Galaxy, compete against their new local rivals in the Derby.

Elton John (Watford)

Elton John is a household name from the music industry, and was once the owner of Watford. Under his ownership, the club moved from the fourth tier to the top division. He sold the club in 1987, but repurchased it later. Once he calls time on his music career next summer, he is expected to be more involved in the matters of the club.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney (Wrexham)

Ryan Reynolds is arguably the most famous among celebrities who have invested in football clubs. He owns Wrexham FC along with Rob McElhenney, and are now trying to lead the club into the Football League.

Matthew McConaughey (Austin FC)

Manchester City sign Kylan Midwood from Sheffield United academy

0

Manchester City have completed the signing of England U15 talent Kylan Midwood. The youngster has made the move from Sheffield United, with the defending Premier League champions beating off four different clubs for his signature.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Leeds United were the other clubs looking to sign him from Sheffield. But, he has followed a number of important talents to have joined the City academy in recent months, such as Emilio Lawrence.

Manchester City sign Kylan Midwood for their academy

Midwood isn’t the first talented youngster to leave the Sheffield United academy this year. Will Lankshear joined Tottenham Hotspur for a fee worth £2 million, and is in their academy now.

The plan for Kylan Midwood is to now develop him to the top level, through their prized academy set-up. While the details of the transfer are yet to come out – there is a good chance that the Blades have included a sell-on clause in the deal. In other words, they will be entitled to a percentage of any future fee that City receive for him.

While the Championship club would have been keen to promote the youngster to their first team, money does play an important part in the sport now. And the financial strength of the Sky Blues has allowed them to snap up yet another impressive young talent.

2022 World Cup Final preview: Argentina vs France promises to be one for the ages

0

The most highly anticipated fixture of 2022 is now upon us – the World Cup final featuring defending champions France taking on Argentina. Two of the best teams in the world will be battling for the most coveted prize in international football.

Argentina vs France – 2022 World Cup final preview

Perhaps the final could be perceived as France vs the entire world – with the overwhelming support for Lionel Messi, who has broken so many more records at the 2022 edition of the World Cup.

The Argentina skipper is arguably the greatest of all-time, and winning the only trophy that has eluded him for so long – the World Cup, will surely cement his position in the history books once and for all.

To their advantage, France could miss Olivier Giroud due to a knock he sustained on the knee. Raphael Varane, Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano are all under the weather, but will be available for the final.

The absence of Giroud could be a huge blow for Didier Deschamps’ side. The country’s all-time top goalscorer has not only scored four goals at the tournament, but has also been great at build-up by bringing in the rest of the team. Marcus Thuram is expected to start ahead of the AC Milan striker, and he will have a huge responsibility on his shoulders.

The Albiceleste, on the other hand, will have support from all corners of the world. They have the majority of their squad available, and their fluid attacking output could trouble France’s defence. But the same can be said the other way round, with Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann expected to start.

For Messi, this could be the end of the ‘GOAT debate’ if he can win the World Cup trophy. Or, it could be a second straight title for France, establishing themselves as the best in the world yet again.

East Bengal is struggling badly in ISL: How can they make a comeback?

0

East Bengal FC only managed 14 of the palm chance in the Hero Indian Super League with 7 triumphs in an aggregate of 50 matches. A platoon that managed just one palm last season has formerly doubled that census in just one-third of the new season and there are signs that the Red and Gold squad may only get better. The Kolkata titans have had to make the team from scrape formerly again ahead of the new season but this time, they had the experience of head trainer Stephen Constantine to fall back on.

East Bengal is struggling badly in ISL, How can they make a comeback?

Struggles of East Bengal

The English head trainer has led the Indian public platoon in two separate stints and knows Indian football in and out. So despite losing four of their six games this season, East Bengal FC has looked a lot more competitive than in former seasons. Constantine’s knowledge of the Indian players and his know- style of grinding out results in the Indian football terrain has been on the show.

East Bengal FC is sluggishly beginning to display signs of a typical Constantine platoon which is generally veritably delicate to beat and builds its foundation on a solid defense. The Red and Golds may have conceded nine pretensions so far this season but the beginning figures show the defense has bettered with every end game.

East Bengal is struggling badly in ISL, How can they make a comeback?

Still, the clear and big difference-maker for East Bengal FC has been Cleiton Silva who has scored three pretensions for the platoon this season and is just one thing down getting the club’s joint each-time leading goalscorer in Hero ISL. The Brazilian has scored 50 of the platoon’s pretensions formerly this season and is the reason behind East Bengal FC’s best-ever start to an idol ISL season at the end of six matches.

East Bengal FC may still be eighth in the points table but is showing signs of getting a cohesive unit. The devoted addict support could just intoxicate the group and make them perform out of their skin. However, also East Bengal FC could have a real crack at the top six this season If Constantine is suitable to harness that. Write off the Kolkata titans at your own pitfall.

Disney Plus with Ads scheme: All details about the price and many more

Disney Plus with Ads scheme is an upcoming new scheme for this OTT platform. Disney Plus is investing a lot of money in high-quality original programming. The OTT platform has gone through its biggest service hit while having over 164 million subscribers and is continuing to grow. Along with this movie, Disney is coming up with a new scheme, where it is offering a new tier of the service which is ad-supported.

This new scheme of Disney Plus is not at all a money-saving option, Meanwhile, it has raised the price for non-ad-supported tiers and has replaced the original low-cost option with a new, ad-supported one.

Disney Plus with Ads scheme: Price

Disney Plus with Ads scheme costs $8 a month. If anyone does not want any ads in their subscriptions, then there will be a price hike. The ad-free experience will cost $11 a month. Before the launch of Disney Plus with Ads, the service costs $8 a month for the ad-free Disney+ subscribers also. But from now onwards, everyone is going to pay extra in order to avoid the newly-added advertisements.

Ad Length

The ad length is going to depend on what one is watching, one has to watch a series of ad breaks. This ad length is going to b uniform throughout its service. Movies will not have more than 4 ad breaks, even if the movie is Avengers: Endgame. TV shows typically have three ad breaks throughout each episode. For the most part, it’s all separated relatively evenly throughout the piece of content one is watching.

Each ad break is either 45 seconds or 60 seconds long. Typically, it is expected to mostly have 45-second ad breaks which consisted of three 15-second ads. If one is watching a TV show episode, one has to watch 2 minutes and 15 seconds of ads to 3 minutes of ads for 30-45 minutes per episode. For a movie, one has to experience 3-4 minutes of ads. It’s straightforward, and there’s about half the amount of ads on Disney+ with ads as there is with Netflix with ads.

Shows without ads

Children’s programming especially does not have any ads. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Bluey, Spidey, and his Amazing Friends, and other programs aimed strictly at children contained zero ad blocks, not even to open the episodes. However, when you step into the realm of family movies or movies aimed strictly at children then the ads returned.

Death Stranding: The Action Video Game Will Come for a Filming Adaptation and Kojima as the Producer

The popular gaming sequel Death Stranding will appear for a filming adaptation according to The Game Awards 2022. The adaptation will depict Kojima, producing the film in parallel with Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Productions, which later it has financed the project. Lebovici’s rememberable credits contain this year’s horror movie Barbarian and also casting Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, and Justin Long.

One of the most interesting facts is  Lebovici has been credited as the executive producer of 2018’s unofficial Uncharted and live-action short featuring Nathan Fillion like Nathan Drake.

Death

The new reports have confirmed about the plot going to introduce some new elements and characters for the Death Stranding universe. Now, things are really not clear while the existing characters going to play by the same actors just seen in the game. It includes Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, Mads Mikkelsen, Lindsay Wagner, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Margaret Qualley.

Things might be strange, but all discussions put an end as they are all very much familiar with shooting live-action movies.

In an official statement, Hideo Kojima said, “ I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios. This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I’m looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen.”

Alex Lebovici included,” We are thrilled and honoured to have the opportunity to partner with brilliant and iconic Hideo Kojima on his first film adaptation. Unlike other big-budget tentpole video game adaptations, this will be something far more intimate and grounded. Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation could be when you have creative and artistic freedom. This film will be an authentic “Hideo Kojima” production.”

Kojima has also appeared in a long video message to celebrate the seventh anniversary of Kojima Productions. He showed the new office and confirmed another game is in production along with ‘visual products.’

Streaming wars were great but now its time to face the reality

We’ve been living in a golden age of entertainment for the last half-decade. With the growth of streaming services, we now have more TV and cinema in our homes than ever before. Keeping up with every new product from Netflix, HBO Max, Disney Plus, and others has been a joy — and sometimes a pain. But, in recent months, we’ve witnessed a shift in how many of these sites operate, and it’s evident that the excess of the content we’ve enjoyed for the low cost of a monthly subscription is going to come to an end. Some of us may experience the anguish of it more acutely than others.

It was a different environment before streaming changed the landscape of Hollywood. It may take years for writers to become showrunners, and the number of plum roles for a new star was limited. There was a lot of reality TV, especially on cable, but scripted television was limited to a few networks. The proprietors of those channels were in a fierce fight for your attention, creating prestige show after prestige show to capture it. There was a Golden Age of television from 1999, with the launch of The Sopranos, through the mid-2010s.

Then came the streaming battles, and it was a blast. It was yet another wonderful era. Netflix began pouring money into Hollywood in an attempt to amass a cache of enormous hits to compete with the likes of Disney, Warner Brothers, and MGM, which owned the majority of the biggest properties. While Netflix has struggled to develop large franchises outside of Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and The Witcher (all of which are based on very successful book series), it has been churning out a lot of content, effectively throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks.

Employees’ condition has shifted from ‘Great Resignation’ to ‘Great Uncertainty’ in just over a year. Less appealing features of corporate culture are emerging as layoffs grow more regular, recruiting slows, and power transfers back to employers. According to Prabir Jha, a seasoned HR specialist, Indian corporations taking an overly calculative approach to layoffs leads to rash decisions and insensitive execution, especially when social security is sparse and labour rules are not very favourable to white-collar employees.

And it seemed like everyone else did as well. The opposing streamers all had their content strategy centred on things like Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and whatever cowboy shenanigans Taylor Sheridan gets up to, but they were also prepared to innovate in ways that were unusual before the streaming wars.

That experimentation was especially beneficial to marginalised groups. Because when TV and film distribution channels were confined to a few timeslots on cable and in cinemas, Hollywood was conservative — only investing in films and TV that would appeal to the broadest audience, which meant film and TV was highly male-oriented, very white, and very, very straight.

The streaming battles freed up more distribution channels, which meant more action series with female leads, comedies that didn’t require a white dude or a big-name comedian to anchor them, and dramas with a happy ending and a gay title character. We often like to gauge diversity in entertainment by “firsts,” and we’ve had more firsts in the last few years than in the previous dozen.

However, the extraordinary period in which there was so much scripted content available that Hollywood suffered a showrunner deficit is coming to an end. While the streaming wars aren’t over, there is a lull in the action, and streamers are all altering their strategies. They spent a lot of money on content in the hopes of gaining subscribers, but now that competition has increased, it’s no longer possible to merely push interesting shows into our throats with little programming plan beyond “sounds neat.”

Before streaming, it was rather usual for TV shows to be abruptly cancelled, with entire seasons shelved.

There were only so many slots on TV, and TV stations would rather air an old rerun than the final episode of a little-watched show if it meant they could sell more expensive commercials against that rerun.

There is infinite shelf space in the streaming world, which theoretically means that it doesn’t matter how many people view something that has already been commissioned and created as long as someone watches it. This is why a pre-Zaslav HBO Max had no qualms about showing suddenly ending shows like Swamp Thing and that ’90s Flash series.

The Writers Guild of America, Directors Guild of America, and Screen Actors Guild will all sign new contracts with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers in 2023, and streaming residuals will be a prominent topic of debate.

To keep up with the escalating costs of developing and maintaining content on these platforms (and, to be clear, I am all for compensating creators fairly for their work), streamers will want to sell their viewership against advertising, which is now available on every major streaming site.

That means that the next round of this streaming conflict will not be about securing your long-term subscription with extremely amazing programming aimed at smaller audiences. It will be about reaching as large an audience as possible to secure ad eyeballs. This means that the renaissance that has appealed to smaller sectors of the population will come to an end, and what remains will only become more expensive.

Hugo Lloris on the verge of creating multiple records in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final

France will be playing their second consecutive World Cup final on Sunday, having won the tournament in 2018 beating Croatia, who finished third this time. Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris will be wearing the captain armband when Les Bleus takes on the field against Argentina in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final.

If France manages to beat Messi’s Argentina, Hugo Lloris would equal Brazilian goalkeeper Gilmar dos Santos (1958 and 1962), who is the only goalkeeper to win two World Cups by starting in the final. He will also become the first goalkeeper to win the World Cup twice as the captain.

Christopher Nkunku to join Chelsea: 100% deal done

0

Christopher Nkunku will be joining Chelsea at the end of the season in June 2023. An agreement was close prior to the 2022 World Cup, but has now been finalised. The deal has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, which means that it is done.

The contracts for the move have been signed and exchanged, which means that all formalities have been done. And now, it is only a matter of time before the striker’s arrival is announced by the Premier League club.

Christopher Nkunku to join Chelsea: done deal

The contract has been agreed with the player as well, while a price tag worth over €60 million has been agreed with RB Leipzig.

Prior to the start of the World Cup in Qatar, the Frenchman sustained an injury in training which ruled him out for the entirety of the tournament. He is currently recovering, and is expected to be fit in time for his move to London next summer.

Chelsea are currently in a very difficult position upfront, having lost Armando Broja for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. They have agreed the signing of Datro Fofana during the January transfer window, but will only be getting Christopher Nkunku at the end of the campaign.

Which means a change in their attacking fortunes will need to wait for at least six more months. And it now remains to be seen when the move is announced, and whether they will sign another striker during the January window.
